    I appreciate those comments from Cheryl. Seemed like the right balance of just telling it like it is, not giving caveats but also not feeling like she needs to gush unnecessarily about cc cuz we all get it. But Cheryl still rubs me the wrong way. And that’s fine, I don’t expect or need her to change. I’m just offput by her personally 🤷‍♀️

    Hahahaha most of the season I have called out "old heifer " every time she was on the screen!! My husband would even yell "heifer alert!" if I missed it! But you gotta respect the woman, and I love the Lynx! Phee should've been MVP in my opinion! So Cheryl, you did a hell of a job with your team, much respect for the truth-telling!! Love and basketball from a longtime Caitlin granny!❤

    Reeve is right. The WNBA did ride the CC wave... while simultaniously trying to install as many wave breakers as humanly possible to break the wave. And Reeve installed a lot of those breakers early in the season herself. I havent forgotten that she didnt give 2 shyts about CC and the new fans she brought (her words, not mine) and she was one of the main reasons CC wasnt on the Olympic roster!

    As a new WNBA fan from Canada after following CC from college, I truly appreciate your coverage. I’ve found TH-cam coverage to be a toilet bowl of misinformation in an effort to capitalize on her popularity. I’ve been a sports fan my whole life, worked in it, and understand the media landscape has changed. So being an “older guy” who was around before the internet, it’s been a little hard to navigate and find balanced coverage. After watching a full season of WNBA, yes including the finals, I’m excited about the league which is why I always turn to your channel for real, call it like it is, coverage. I believe in the long run, it will pay long-term dividends for your brand. Professionalism matters and you have carried your past experience into this relatively new stage of your career and I congratulate you for that. Keep up the good work! And… I will suggest, even though down the road, the impact of Toronto’s addiction to the league will bring even more growth. Toronto is a massive needle mover in the Canadian media market. Hopefully Vancouver soon.

    Coach Reeve, recall when your team committed fouls against CC with body slams and the referees overlooked it in favor of your team? There was no complaint heard from you or your players about the referees' fairness. Similarly, there was no mention from the Indiana Fever at their press conference about the game being unfairly taken from them. Your right it was a bad call by the referees that cost you guys a championship, just like it cost an Indiana Fever a game. Rather than lamenting that the championship was stolen, use your influence to enact change and ensure this doesn't happen to any team in the WNBA again.

    • @katharineschott9125
      @katharineschott9125 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Body slams? Which game(s) did this/these occur in? I am a HUGE CC & Fever fan, and I do not recall any excess physicality in the Fever vs. Lynx games. If you can tell me which game(s), I'd like to review them.

    • @MYOB100
      @MYOB100 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +5

      @Hawk I agree about Game 5 being stolen. BUT - Game 4 was stolen from the LIBERTY by the referees. And whatever Reeve says now can’t make up for her jealous, dismissive nastiness aimed at Clark. The U.S. ALMOST LOST the Olympics because Reeve allowed people like 2-point-average Taurasi on the team - and then she rode the bench for the last 2 games. Nope, low-class foul-mouth Reeve doesn’t get forgiven because she did this one thing right.

      To be fair, when a game is physical and the refs are not calling it it's up to the player to adjust. Try to give it back what were they dealt with. If the refs call it against your team then that's on the ref. The Lynx and liberty series was a physical one. IMO in terms of letting them play despite of lots of contact is pretty fair. The only problem was when they call that very thin to none foul at the end. They had no business calling that specially when they are consistently letting the game be physically played all series long. I love the Fever but biases aside? That call is a bad reflection of the league and a deservice to these women's hardworks.

    • @MYOB100
      @MYOB100 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@may2972 There’sa reason that there are rules about fouls. When a player grabs another player around the waist and throws her to the ground, as Jonquel Jones did in Game 5, that should have been called a flagrant foul and JJ should have been ejected. Instead they called the foul on the victim, who was injured. That’s not “physical play,” it’s a gross violation and this is why lots of people have become disgusted with this being accepted in the WNBA. If I had a kid who wanted to play basketball, I don’t think I’d let them watch this carnage and think it’s okay. It’s not.

    Its a shame that Reeve's has been crapping on CC all year and has turned her head to all the violence that CC has dealt with by WNBA players and now when she realizes the bonuses that her team and players will recieve because of the fan influx and CC contributions, she is singing a different tune. Pathetic. Nothing attractive about what she is saying now. I am really not suprised and I dont agree with Lundberg's hypothesis at all. So many manipulators and takers in the WNBA to include the media.

    WNBA numbers are going in a good direction but they have a long, long, long way to go. In 2022 the NCAA women finals had 5 million without Clark. 2023 Clark is in finals and it's 9.9 million. 2024 Clark in finals it's 18 million. 2024 WNBA finals 2.1 million. The only reason Clark could not do the same for the WNBA, is the WNBA itself. There is immense interest for women's basketball, but not a toxic circus.

    Reeves did the pricking. Sour grapes, sure? Local support is different from the support Caitlin got. Other teams are fortunate they could ride the wave. Show maturity Reeves! A 22 year old showed some. Could you flourish among such negativity? The whole of America zeroed in on this 22 year old. The last entertainer that had to live through such varied opinions that I can recall was Elvis. Everyone had an opinion regardless of age or race. Once they saw the good in him , most came around. That it was about CC doesn't mean anything to me. Reeves is a very good coach, and if that is all that matters then ok, but I'd still take a quality person like Sides even if her coaching skills are not on the same level. I wrestled for six years, 6th through HS, making it to state quarter finals. I had a total of seven head and assistant coaches during that time. The one coach I think about today as someone who made a difference in my life would likely have been ranked lowest on a performance scale. But he was number one on a human scale, and was the coach who turned me into a winning wrestler.

    I sincerely hope that, before next season starts, MOST OF US CC FANS WILL BE ABLE TO LET GO OF ALL OF OUR RESENTMENTS OVER WHO SAID WHAT ABOUT CAITLIN AND WHO DID WHAT TO CAITLIN, BECAUSE AS LONG AS WE HOLD ON TO ALL OF THIS ANGER AND RESENTMENT, SOME OF US WILL KEEP MAKING NASTY REMARKS ABOUT PLAYERS AND COACHES IN THIS LEAGUE AND THAT WILL FURTHER INCITE THEM TO HATE OR FEAR US. THIS WILL PERPETUATE A VISCIOUS CYCLE, AND THERE WILL NEVER BE PEACE!!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... JUST LET IT GO! FORGIVE, AND MOVE FORWARD. Let's take the high road so that next season we can actually ENJOY the games.
    All of this started with the dismissive remarks made by Sheryl Swoopes (in Feb. 2024) because of her jealousy over the fact that Caitlin had broken her 1993 record for the most points recorded in a ncaa tournament. Sheryl tried to delegitimize Caitlin's record because, in 1993, the highest ranked teams in the ncaa tournament had a first round bye, so Sheryl scored her record in only five games, whereas Caitlin had six games in which to beat Sheryl's record. At that time, NONE OF US CC FANS KNEW WHY Swoopes was disrespecting CC and we were pretty upset about it (especially those of us who had also been fans of Swoopes - I was at the Final Four in 1993 and I saw Swoopes score 47 points in the championship game). A few weeks after Swoopes' comments began, Taurasi made her now famous remarks at the 2024 Final Four. We were getting pretty upset at this point. Suddenly, these TH-cam channels appear, claiming to LOVE OUR CC, and they also were "shocked and angry" over the disrespect being shown to CC. THESE CONTENT CREATORS WERE VERY CLEVER because they knew that 1) CC has millions of fans, 2) most of CC's fans didn't know very much about the WNBA, 3) CC fans generally tended to lean towards conservative or Christian values, and 4) if they played their cards right, they could make a fortune off of CC fans. So, every time anyone that had any association with the league said anything the least bit negative about Caitlin, they blew it all out of proportion and reported it on their channels with appropriate feigned indignation. They also magnified and exaggerated anything and everything they could possibly think of that could be perceived by CC's fans as negative conerning anyone associated with the WNBA. They intentionally and methodically introduced content day after day to cause us to develop negative thoughts and feelings towards the league and the "activist" players in the league. Day after day, after week, they worked to sow dissension, distrust, disgust, anger, and even hatred between CC fans and players and other elements of the league through exaggeration, half-truths, and outright lies. THEY KNEW THAT ONCE THEY GOT US TO BELIEVE THE LIES, CONFIRMATION BIAS WOULD PREVENT US FROM LISTENING TO THE TRUTH, SO THEY WOULD KEEP MAKING MONEY FROM OUR "CLICKS" AND SUBSCRIPTIONS FOR THE FORSEABLE FUTURE.
    At first, I was even taken in by them, even though I've been watching the W since 1997. First, they just talked about the folks who said disrespectful things about CC, and I listened because I was really upset. It had never occurred to me that CC wouldn't be welcomed into the W with open arms. However, after about two weeks of watching these videos, I realized that they weren't telling the truth because I knew the players in the W, and most of what was being said about them was FALSE!!!!
    I truly hope that those of you who have been systematically deceived by these channels will pull away from them and make a genuine effort to open your minds to the truth. YES, there was a grain of truth in their propaganda, but they made everything and everyone associated with the league seem so much worse than they really are. There are problems in the league that need to be fixed - first and foremost is the officiating. It must be greatly improved for player safety and fairness of the games. However, the league, and the vast majority of the players are not as they have been described by these channels. Try to break free of these channels and make an effort to find channels with a more positive outlook. May God bless you all.

I would rather have your thoughts stand alone. You are a great "W" fan, a thinker to help level our thoughts out. Good to have such a positive in fluence among us. I go back to 1997 as a fan. When Grizz cam e to Memphis in 2000, as a season ticket holder I got totally into the team. It wasn't until this year I got back into the "W". I' m all in now. My favorite league now, who would have thunk it? Big Fever fan, love Caitlin to death. Love the whole WNBA and can't wait for next season. What a ride this season was! "Cait - lin- Clark" -- it's only three syllables, ladies. It's not that hard to say.

    I am sorry... after I really tryed, the game 5 cured me completely. The refs were one thing. But whatever the players tryed to do out there, it wasnt Basketball. I cant watch this anymore... I will watch CC and Fever games, thats it. The rest of the WNBA can do their thing... I will just ignore it. Call me every -ist , or -phobe you can come up with. But I also do not watch low level football for example (I am german), even if I played it myself for nearly 20 years. Cause the games are just awfull to watch. But I did watch a 2nd division YOUTH basketball game this year here in germany. Just for fun, cause I was invited. The quality was better then game 5 of the finals. Talent on the court, coaching, officiating... everything was better... and that game was extremely bad in the 1st place if you are used to Euroleague, or NBA.

    Good comments, I almost don't dislike Reeve as much as I have in the past 6 months. Believe it or not, Caitlin Clark brought the fans EVERYWHERE. People actually decided that women's basketball wasn't such a bad sport and after seeing her play, the game has seen new fans, especially when the Fever comes to town. Angel Reese could have done any number of things to help her cause and keep her membership if she would have stopped the "me me me" commentary and stopped trying to bury Caitlin. I guess the Bayou Barbie is going to end up back in the Bayou with the gators and other snakes. I doubt that Chicago is giving her any love.

    Ok, Coach Reeve has had a "come to Caitlin" moment. Have to give her props for what seems to me to be the 1st time she has mentioned CC in a truly positive way. By no means do I mean to downplay that, even though Coach Reeve is a little too old skool for me... (On another unrelated to this topic, issue, she has not thrown her team under the bus at all. IMHO, there Were a couple of Lynx players who choked pretty badly, although not nearly so bad as Breanna & Sabrina...) What IS missing from both her summation of the season, and yours, Robin, is the insanely toxic way many of the wnba players view Clark. I personally have lost a lot of respect for some of the biggest starts in the W" because of this. They can't begin to see just how much Their lot in life has improved with Caitlin playing this year. Not going to analyze it here, That has been beaten to death by some pretty bright folks. However, until that changes I am not confident that the kind of growth of interest in the "W" that we have seen this year, can possibly been sustained for any real growth to take place. Not sure how to change this dilemma, but somehow, some way, this issue needs to be dealt with. Is it gonna take Caitlin suffering some viscous career ending injury? I sure as hell hope not....

    In my humble opinion - I know. I have much to be humble about - The Lynx won the game ie. Championship. If it was a regular season game I would still be writing the same thing. I’m all about fair play above all else . The refs calls showed blatant bias against the Lynx. If one reviewed the entire game from all camera angles you would see how the stats were different from the reality. Phee Collier was the MVP hands down ! Breanna, and Sabrina were terrible ,Jones got away with low level assault . Breanna looked like she was teaching a dance class with a ball in her hands. Sabrina would have needed a ladder to make a bucket. On the others side Williams was not only a ball hog she couldn’t make a shot in the last quarter yet Reeve kept her in the game. That I don’t understand. Phee got called for fouls that didn’t exist . Look at how many free throws Minnesota took as opposed to New York. As has been said ad nauseum Cheryl Reeve was not liked by many people, Indiana fans in particular * . With that said. Kudos to Reeve for calling out the officiating which was the worst, and appeared to corrupt or totally inept. Reeve is a contrarian opposed to Christie Sides whom let CC get called for technicals when she could have stepped in, which she did twice early in the season; however, when it really counted after the Olympic break she was crickets .
    And so it goes on this day October 22,2024
    * Why do people not see the platinum lining in that kerfuffle ? That break gave CC, KM,AB,LH - Smith ? - time to rest,and practice. CC had not had a break since Iowa . What a difference a day makes …

Cameron Brink, and I don't know if she ever built much of a fanbase prior to her knee injury which was unfortunate. Kate Martin, who was a college teammate of Clark was drafted 18th by the Aces, and is 4th in jersey sales, so Iowa had 2 rookies as well as a veteran in Megan Gustafson who was drafted a few years earlier, 2019 I believe. Ego is good until you go overboard which she did. The things you say will stay in people's minds. She has a lot of work ahead of her if she even wishes to change all of that.
