Turning up the volume ~ getting lost in this song ~ remembering a 'time' when there was no computers or cell phones ~ no social media ~ we did what really mattered and that was actually hanging out with friends and 'being there' for each other ~

Where did the time go,Steve??? I didn't graduate, but if I had it would have been class of 82. St.Louis was such a great place to grow up in the 70's/80's. It made me who I am,and I ain't bad!!! Midwest values,Midwest mind.....and I love some great music that people out here on the west coast SHOULD have grown up listening to,but never even heard of!!!! It's beautiful out here, but so so many people are screwed up in mind and spirit out here. I wish it weren't that way.....anyhoo,nice chatting at you home boy! xoxo!!!

If I would have finished high school,I would have been class of 78_ Webster Groves high school.....but,alas,I was a wild child and thought I could learn more from"real" life than I could in school...lol!! BUT...I did get my GED :):):):) I sure do miss the world as it was when I was growing up. Back then it was LIVE,AND LET LIVE,not all this STUPID political correctness. SCREW POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. Every day I walk in shadows
I know not what it is
    Heading for
And as the evening lies dying
A gentle heart dies near me sighing
    It's still the same
    You'll never change
    You can never understand
We can now be like water
Don't need more to find our way
Just get on where we came
    It's a game
    What a game
    No time to lose
    No time to lose
    No time to lose
    No time to lose
    Go with the flow
    Never let go
    No time to lose
There ain't no way to see forever
    It's only day to day
    I'm living for
Like a wheel you keep me turning
Put your love inside me burning
    Questions plain
    When you're lovin' me
    You can never understand
We can now be like water
Don't need more to find our way
Just get on where we came

I've been listening to Terry Britten's compositions recently, admiring his song writing ability. He and Tarney have written songs for Cliff Richard, and Tarney is responsible for Cliff's success in the 70's producing records for him. Tarney is also responsible for a-ha's success with Take On Me. He produced their record, improving the sound of that song immensely. I remember hearing this song played on KNX fm in Los Angeles.

I think it's saying the past is gone, don't cling to yesterday. Nothing lasts forever so when the time comes for something that was good to end, let go as quickly as possible and try to live in the now as much as you can. All we have is today. Try to be like water and just go with flow. This is much easier said than done, that's why when someone writes a great song about it, it sticks in your head.

True. But i don't think it's only about romantic relationships either. It could be the end of a close friendship, and not necessarily in a bad way. Like maybe one of you gets married, or has to move far away to pursue an educational or career opportunity. Or it could be a special group of friends. What 1st came to my mind was a nightclub I worked in about 20 years ago & what a tight group we were. Then one day it closed. We went our separate ways. But I did think of a couple former lovers too.

I don't know what it is, but when I hear this song, it reminds me of my child hood back in the 80's. I'm not sure if this was when it was released to the radio??

@R Diaz Thanks, so it initially released in '79 then they did a re-release in early 80's?

Well, there is no time like the present. Good music is timeless.
