Eisenhower Inerstate System

The Interstate Highway And Defense Act pushed by Pres. Eisenhower, brought much needed upgrades to the nations transportation infrastructure. This new system of roadways connected every major city and port in the country, making it the nations largest public works project in history. It stimulated the economy through constructions and supporting business and industry by making transportation of raw material, resources, people, and finished products much faster and more efficient, the interstate highway system provided many needed benefits to our country. It also allowed a faster way to evacuate people from large cities in case of an atomic blast, invasion, or natural disaster. The interstates allowed for the creation of the suburbs and changed the way we live our lives.
