Congratulations, Joanna, you did a great work. Could you please elaborate on your choice of composition? You didn't include the whole tree, but a big section of it. To me, this gives strength to the image, but I'd like to hear from you also, if possible. Thank you. Cheers!

@@cmeluzziI like photos that give me the impresion of some mistery and leave the space for my imagination. Mabye that's why I didn't include whole tree, to leave you with the question :) . But most of the time I just take photo when I tell my self "oh this is it! " I really don't analize to much. But my romantic side of me sees in this picture the birch tree as a Bride wrapped in white tulle :). Best wishes to you Claudio.

Absolutely fantastic. Note the darkest tones of the images are towards the center and the lightest or brightest tones are towards the edge of the picture and it work so well. The transitions are very subtle and the tones soft and relaxing. Beautiful image.
With Adam's suggestion I went first with NO NO NO, please don't crop it, such a beautiful image and then suddenly the relationship with the tree behind became obvious. A new perspective, a new interpretation. A bit of separation from the background that I didn't get initially. Equally beautiful in my opinion. Great critic and absolutely stunning picture.

I think the 'static' appearance of the tree in the centre highlights the stillness of winter, when the forest feels very balanced.

This is a great image. I really love the subtle tones and how they just stand out from the snowy background

It's refreshing to hear praise for this fantastic image by two accomplished photographers. We learn as much by hearing what's right with a photo as by hearing what's wrong. Less secure critics would find something to criticize just to prove their expertise. We now know that you don't do that, and that we can trust you to tell us what you really think. Thanks for that!

Beautiful image! Excellent critiques Adam and Alister! Adam, I really found your recommendation on the cropping to really add another perspective to this image. I would never have noticed how that crop would effect the viewing of that image in such an interesting way. Loved it! Thanks for sharing.

Excellent review from both of you. I agree the various crop options add a new perspective, while it is also terrific as is.

A wonderful image from Joanna. It's incredibly interesting to listen to two accomplished photographers critiquing some very good images - in fact, this is what makes these videos so interesting.
I was initially concerned about Adam's proposed cropping that I instinctively thought might harm the image. However, I feel he was absolutely correct in bringing some attention to the initially rather faint tree in the rear right, and the end result for me was certainly an improvement in an otherwise lovely image.

A beautiful image, and yes, nigh perfect. Maybe a very supple hit of the blacks slider, just on the tree. What do you think, chaps?

Great series. The only downside is the point that the images are too brilliant to be criticized.

Alister masterfully states sentences that mean nothing.
