      My personal favorite constellation is an Orion for me.... 'cause you can't to see it in night sky in my country for all od year and I like a face of this constellation. It's likes a arrow and a few stars.... (Execuse me for my English, it is not my mother language)

      Mine is also Orion but also Taurus and Auriga , especially Elnath. In my first days of looking at the sky i saw a huge map of stars similar to the constellation crux. I didn't know what they were but i later found out that was constellation Orion in a confusing way to look.

    I see these constellations most every night. Kicking back and looking at the night sky is my favorite way of unwinding and preparing for a good night's sleep.

      I agree, laying under the stars is the best way to get to sleep. When my kids have trouble falling asleep, we will go outside and view the stars. Thank you for your comment.

    From where I live I have to go 10 miles West out of t0wn to see the Little Dipper's stars except Polaris.
    I enjoy watching your videos along with the Stellarium night sky software. It really helps me to plan my stargazing for the evening.

    I understand why Polaris never appears to move on a given night, but does it move (at least just a little) as Earth travels around the sun? There is a significant distance between Earth's positions between, say, the summer and winter solstices.

    Polaris is Ursa Minor brightest star but in Ursa Major, Dubhe (Alpha), Merak (Beta) and Mizar (Zeta) while they are some of the brighter star of Ursa Major and form the asterism of the Big Dipper along with the other four stars, the brightest star in Ursa Major is Alioth (Epsilon).

    That's the exact story except it's originally Greek and Arcas is the namesake of the planet Arcturus. But if you replace Jupiter with Zeus and Juno with Hera you get the full true story and it ended at the end of this lycaon the grandfather killed arcus and tried to feed him to Zeus to see if Zeus was omniscience in his knowing which he was he couldn't be tricked and he turned lycaon into the wolf and then brought Arcus back to life and made the constellations for them there's a minor in Ursa Major Arcus became the great red bear the chief of Blackfoot of Northern California and he brought the wolf and the bear to Merrick and being descended from Cain we're also gifted the dog first companion and the mannoch eat

    • @learnthesky

      These two constellations can be seen all year round in the northern hemisphere because they sit so close to the northern celestial pole, so they never sink below the horizon.

    The Dipper the handle of the Dipper which at the end of it is the North Starwhat's the Dipper circles around and can be located in the four directionals through the four that is where the true origin of the swastika symbol image comes that the Nazis ended up taking and corrupting.

      I have read about this before as well. It’s a shame that a symbol that dates back far in civilization was corrupted in such a way.

    Hi

  • @ILikePepsiiToo
    @ILikePepsiiToo หลายเดือนก่อน

    Ursa Minor (ER-suh MY-ner), Arabic for “Little Bear,” is the northernmost constellation in the sky. It hosts the Little Dipper asterism and the celebrated North Star. Unlike the Big Dipper, the Little Dipper has only two stars of 2nd magnitude: Polaris (the North Star), at the end of the Little Dipper’s handle, and Kochab, marking the lip of the bowl. All stars appear to circle Polaris, as it lies near the point in the celestial sphere that is pierced by the Earth’s northern spin axis.
The altitude of the North Star is essentially the same as your latitude on Earth. A line drawn from Merak to Dubhe in the Bowl of the Big Dipper, and continued onward, will lead you right to it. Kochab lies almost midway along an arc between Polaris and Mizar in the Big Dipper’s handle. Dark skies best reveal the rest of the Little Dipper, which is highest in the sky at 9:00 p.m. in July, when it can be viewed fully from anywhere in the Northern H

    Hera never-married Zeus do you know who was Hera never-married Jupiter who was Zeus even though Hera is supposedly the goddess of marriage, she refused to marry Zeus. The daughter of Zeus but not Hera , the Huntress Artemis and her Brother Apollo were children of Zeus Leto. Artemis had a group of huntresses loyal to her. Zeus ended up falling in love with one of them calisto who also fell in love with Zeus. Artemis said nothing because the child that Calisto ended up carrying was a sibling of hers. King Lycaon of Arcadia , Calisto's Father Threw a feast and tried to deceive Zeus by killing Arcas Calistos Son, Whom he did not know who the father was, so he didn't have any care for a bastard heir. To test Zeus's omnipotence, he tried feeding Arcas to Zeus. Zeus knew right away that it was his son Arcas, and in retaliation he killed all 49 of King Lycaon's sons, and then in the legend he turned Lycaon into a Wolf. Afterwards Zeus restore Arcas back to life, and in doing so gave away the secret that the boy was his. That was what infuriated and she retaliated but she couldn't punish the boy or Zeus, so she turned Callisto into a bear as so she would have to watch her son grow up with him never knowing who she was. As Arcas grew up and became king of Arcadia, he also became known as a great Hunter, and was known as Arturis the Bear King.when he was out hunting one day he came across a bear who raised up on its back legs like it was coming at him to attack him not knowing that it was Callisto coming towards him to hug him. And before he was able to fire an arrow and shoot her Zeus interrupted andthat is where Legends of Ursa Major Ursa Minor come from it is said that he turned them into the constellations to protect them from the wrath of. Arcas became known as The the King of the Star System Arcturus. The Arcturians eventually became the colonizers of Orion starthe legend of Orion grew from The legend of Arcas and Calisto and Artemis. There is much more to the legend but I won't go into it right now.

    These two constellation are refractions of the reflections of our own sun into its own space time folding at norhtern pole of the heliosphere. None of these stars exist other then being echoes of our own sun. Plausible according to singularity theory that analize everything like astronomical body according to the black hole singularity model of todays science. With equator and poles ... Oo!
