Status Quo live. No frills. No makeup . No crazy mosh pit. Nothing fancy. Just music , for the people to be as happy as they were when they played it for us. Glad to have been alive to have enjoyed their shows 🙏
@johnpublicprofile6261 Not true. Their first hit, Pictures of Matchstick Men was a hit in the 60s and was psychedelic. They turned to no nonsense boogie in 1969 with the Ma Kellys Greasy Spoon album. Quo were never glam.
Yes my friend it's an absolute banger. Loved the Quo in the 80s growing up in the UK. So many hits by the Quo. Still touring fter 60 years. Great tune. Love Status Quo. I defy anyone not to start tapping their feet when this pearler comes on. Great reaction !!
saw 2 documentaries about the band, pretty good ones! I love Francis response on why not just play the biggest arena some nights sold out for sure! He just said, "then we wouldnt be on the road!"
I absolutely love this band! 130 million records sold worldwide, but never made it big in the states. Why…? I don’t know. They certainly should have done. It’s 12 bar boogie and just great Rock n roll. Listen to their song “Paper Plane”, it will blow your mind. Great video by the way 😀👍🏻
Poor management & a serious lack of airplay cost Quo in the States back in the 70’s when they made their name. Even so over the years they’ve been big in Europe, Asia & have a good following in South America. One of Britains biggest & best Live bands. 🎸👍
Quo are a wonderful live band, up there with the best.I have seen them over 40 times, the best being in the 1970s. A Quo concert is a wonderful experience, loyal fans in their thousands, noisy, sweaty, ears ringing for days. So blessed to have their music in my life.
Just came back from France with the worse WiFi ever 😂, so I’m just catching up. Loved Status Quo, seen them perform live once, with my mother. Imagine a woman who was every inch a lady, headbanging with hard core rock fans with long hair and tattoos. One of my fondest memories. Music really brings people together, the minute they saw her headbanging, she was everyone’s mom ❤
You have to react to their live stuff, that's when you will see how awesome they really are. America's loss, the rest of the world benefitted. Awesome band
Who are they? Ha! Now that questions blows MY mind, haha. Short history: end of1960s first album in the British charts. nearly everything album of the 70s went high up into the top ten charts, a lot of 80s albums went in, as well. and they went on, had alos albums in the charts in the 1990s, the 2000s, and the 2010s (2018 or 2019 was the last ones so far). 6 (six!) following decade they had studio albums with FRESH material in the charts. In principal there music didnt change (fitting band name, even if created by chance). Several hits over the years. If LiveAid85 rings a bell, they were called to open that show with three songs and it didnt take long to get hte crowd rearing and returning the energy that came from the stage. Get Status Quo - Live at Montreux with the song "Caroline" which usually opens their 2 hour concerts. Pure energy! Oh, and yes, they are still on tour, the singer stillis going for it at about 75ish :) Number of studo albums? 33. In the top ten British charts? 25 of those!!! Now again....WHO are these guys, lol. Enjoy to explore!
Status Quo was formed in 1967 with the line-up Francis Rossi (vocals, guitar), Rick Parfitt (vocals, guitar), Alan Lancaster (bass, vocals), John Coghlan (drums) and Roy Lynes (keyboards). Their glory days of success was in the 70’s and early 80’s. They were huge in the UK, Europe and Australia and tried it several times to break the USA but gave up in 1976. Status Quo released 33 Studio albums and is the band with most Top 40 hits in the UK. Quo opened Live-Aid in 1985 and is still touring with an different Line-Up. Only Francis Rossi survived from the original line-Up. Rick Parfitt (2016) and Alan Lancaster (2021) sadly died. Their biggest hits in the UK and Europe are Rockin’all over The World, Whatever You Want, In the Army Now and What You’re Proposing. But try this Songs from their glory 70’s period Mystery Song (full version), Roll over lay Down, Caroline (Live version) or Whatever You Want.
JUST ABOUT THE BIGGEST BAND EVER IN THE UK At times more well known and more played than even Queen in their time. Unlike Queen, they never managed to break into the USA market.
Hey man, old Quo fan from London. Pleased you enjoyed it - the album version has more bass line at the end which I'm sure you'll like. Next up, try 'Mystery Song' , 'Caroline' and 'Backwater'
It’s still a mystery to me why they are nearly unknown in the USA. In the 70’s it was pure unluck and bad timing. They toured with bands like ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Kiss, Bad Finger, Rory Gallagher but couldn’t reached the US Radio DJ and the business managers at the time. They were too British and didn’t want to loose their main market in the UK and Europe.
The only way to get airplay and promotion in the states at the time was to grease some palms. Quo weren't prepared to do that as they felt they were being ripped off.
I heard a rumour that when Quo supported Aerosmith on their US tour in 1975-76 Aerosmith's management was quick to sack Quo after a couple of shows, because they blew the headliner off stage every single show. Not surprising if true, as Quo were and have all the time been a great live band. The band actually recorded an American version of their album Whatever You Want, titled as Now Hear This, but it wasn't properly promoted and sank without a trace. There's been a few US releases more, but to break the US market you'd need to tour there for months, and perhaps this wasn't what Quo were willing to do, doing well in UK & Europe.
Just don't....if you get pulled over by the coppers for a traffic offence (speeding is common), just don't tell the officer I was listening to Quo. The coppers have heard that one too many times before...you won't get away with it mate. Try Mystery Song, once the beat dropped you are nailed.
I don't understand why the British band Status Quo never made it in the USA , I guess there was no promotion of them. Rocking all over the rest of the world.
Mocked by music critics loved by music fans. 12 bar google at it best. The original "frantic four" was the best line up 2 of them now sadly decesed. The band is coming to a stop but live in the 70's and 80's these were the No1 Rock n Roll band in the Land. Try anything from the live album. You won't regret it.
North America was totally threatened by STATUS QUO's superiority, so the radio Stations and Record Companies refused to promote them. Ordinary looking people don't like very good-looking people standing next to them. Other Rock Bands sound very ordinary next to STATUS QUO.
Love Quo always have but I find the old videos don't have the best sound. They are a much better Live Band today and obviously as technology has grown much better sounding.
Status Quo live. No frills. No makeup . No crazy mosh pit. Nothing fancy. Just music , for the people to be as happy as they were when they played it for us. Glad to have been alive to have enjoyed their shows 🙏
"No make-up"... Actually they start off as a glam rock band when they would have had plenty of make-up. But they soon found their own identity.

It’s truly superb !
Can't beat the Quo live, RIP Rick 🌟

It is strange. I guess it might have been a little too direct for America? The closest I can think of in style is some early Aerosmith.
@@neighbourhoodmusician I'm certain that Aerosmith sound nothing like STATUS QUO.
@@alanstrom2221 Some early Aerosmith has a very boogie based sound. Obviously they turned into a different animal but I can hear shades of it.

If you sitting still while Quo are playing, you already dead!! 🤣

Love Status Quo they opened Live Aid
Bob Geldof threatened to bash Rossi if he didn't open LIVE AID.
Never heard of them but they are Amazing 😮
Broke every country in the world except America with over 130 million record sales
If you like Down Down then check out Mystery Song.
you've got a whole lot to investigate then! Lucky you! 😀
Break the Rules, Roll Over Lay Down, Caroline, Paper Plane, Whatever You Want ... and just so many more. You got some good listening ahead of you man.

I know for a fact, that is the extended album version.

Slow train, hidden classic
You have to have been at a Quo gig to really get the atmosphere they created, fantastic band
Shame Quo never made it in the States, great boogie band and are massive in Europe
Quo have been touring and producing rock since 1967 so you have a lot of catching up on the number one rock and roll band on the land :)

Hi there....best live Band ever....listen to Caroline or the opening from Live Aid....Quofully from Germany
Original and best bass player in Status Quo - and in this video - was Alan Lancaster
Check their song:
Live/CAROLINE or
