This was a number 1 single in the UK. Solos don't really belong to hit singles, but Quo were solo masters on their album tracks, especially those they put out in the 70s.
Status Quo are an English psychedelic rock band that formed in 1962. They have had over 60 chart hits in the UK. My favorite song by them is "Pictures Of Matchstick Men". But they have had a lot of great hits such as "Down Down", "Rockin' All Over The World", "Whatever You Want", "In The Army Now", "Paper Plane", "Caroline", "Break The Rules", "Roll Over Lay Down", "Rain", "Mystery Song", "Wild Side Of Life" etc.
Not very psychedelic after the two first albums though... From 1970; boogie, blues and rock with flavors of pop and country and even hardrock at times. Good choice of songs though, some of their most knowns :)
Don't forget that "In the army now" is not their original song. It's was written bij the Dutch musicians Bolland & Bolland. They have a hit in The Netherlands at the 15th place. Status Quo higher (I thought).
"Caroline" "Roll over, lay down" "Rockin All over the world" "In the army now" "Margarita Time" Also when I saw QUEEN, Status Quo were their main support band, Freddie loved them. They opened Live Aid by playing "Rockin all over the world". They were never taken too seriously, sadly, but they were HUGE, seriously HUGE. Guaranteed to get guys dancing too. Please do more?
@@leo1314ok I said "too" seriously! The musical press particularly but me and my BFF both had every album and I saw them 3 times and they rocked every time. It would be c.77? first time (Reading) and can't recall 2nd but 3rd was Queen's support band at their last ever UK gig , Knebworth 86.
It was towards the latter albums and part of their career they were not taken seriously by some of the music press and hip/trendy newer younger generation who saw them as a stereotype, same chords, pop band. But the Quo could really rock, as good as anyone, and they remained a super band live, throughout their career.
In the uk yea sure. The Beatles have sold more records worldwide than anyone by a long way. Not that record sales are the defining factor alone. Status quo were a great band in their heyday no doubt about it. Putting things into perspective though the Beatles first single to their last was 8 years apart. The impact that band made and the legacy they left behind cannot and will never be matched. Like the articles currently going around trying to make a claim Taylor swift can in anyway be compared to them 😂 I spat my coffee out and nearly pissed my pants I laughed so hard.
