    I have one of these, use it often. Pulled leaning trees away from houses, pulled hung trees down, dragged trees, etc. I will never be without one of these. If you cut lots of trees and never used one of these, you are truly missing out.

      I never see one in real just in videos and never find one for sale in Europe, if I buy online from USA the sorry customers here charge 3 times more in import taxes that what it costs.

    If you flip the flat spring in the handle it puts it into reverse and by pulling the handle all the way towards your anchor until it clicks, it reverses one click at a time.

      A tip: watch series on Flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies these days.

      You are correct! I was confused at first by it being called a spring. The directions call it a flat spring. I had never seen one and was still looking for a more traditional spring. Eventually I pushed on and it became clear. If you follow the handle down to where it Y’s out it’s there. Push one way for forward and other for reverse.
      One other thing to remember is that the rope needs tension on it to bite correctly. If you encounter slipping make sure to have tension. Without going back on video I think it was mentioned but I have seen people bitchin that it slips on them.

    I'm buying one of these. In 1976 I bought a Masdam come-a-long for off roading in my Bronco. It's pretty worn out, but I'm still using it. And the red handles have not fallen off, even after many years of abuse.

    NO NEED TO PUT YOUR FINGERS IN THERE. The flat metal spring is there to hold the engagement or release it. In the released position rotate the handle as far as it goes as if you were tightening the load but instead it will release it one click at a time. Repeat until the tension is off the load.

      Yes. That small flat metal band allows you to reverse the winch one click at a time. But it is easily damaged if not used carefully. Buy a couple (cheap) and keep one on hand.

    There's a very simple fix to keep the grip from sliding off the handle. Drill a rivet sized hole through the grip and handle about 1/2" from the end of the steel handle. Insert a proper size aluminum pop-rivet and backer washer. Fasten with a rivet gun. If the rivet's back is sticking out or is sharp, flatten it with a ball peen hammer.

    I replaced my snap hook it came with with a steel rigging carabiner, works a lot better.

    You could wrap friction tape around that handle.

    Hi … can I ask about the support rope around the tree you hook the puller to? Example thickness… was it something you bought specifically for the puller ? I’ve seen some use a chain. Have you used straps ?

    What is the maximum rope diameter that can be used with the 3/4 ton rope puller?

    • @RBnPA
      @RBnPA 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I recommend to only use 1/2” 3 strand rope in it. That’s what it comes with and is built for! I’ve heard but never tried that other diameters or types will not grip. Directions say (in bold print) Use Only 1/2” Rope.

    Thanks for the video. I have a piece of land by a river a need to pull a few trees out and large branches would this be a good device? What size ropes are you using?

    • @user-ku2qb1pq7e
      @user-ku2qb1pq7e  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, absolutely. It uses 1/2" hard lay 3-strand rope.

    put a threaded chain link rated at 3000lb+ on your puller to hook into your ropes ...the anchor rope around your tree...then you dont have to mess with the safety hook on the puller every time you set up just a thought

    That's not the easiest way to let the line out ,once you click the spring into reverse take the handle to where it is in the most adv phase of cranking hold the release on the wheel and rapidly and the handle more(bump)and as you bump you will get 2 clicks of slack,p.s.be careful when clickin off the load once it gets loose it will slide unless you keep tention on the tail of you're rope

    .....And of course you don't pull the tree over toward you. Use an offset block for a re-direct and anchor the Maasdam at a safe distance.
