I have a 1998 or 99. I had the loose bullet. Wouldn’t tighten to straighten the neck. Took it to a factory repair shop. They said it needed a new truss rod. Ended up getting a new neck from G&L. Used that for a few years but didn’t like it as much. Ended up putting my “broken” neck back on, they lost the bullet so I ordered a new one. I snugged it just a nut and put .95 extra light daddarios. It works great. If you’re necks bowing, maybe try some lighter strings or tune down to test it out

I bought a bunch of USA Fender Banana necks a few years ago dirt cheap. Did same procedure, but I didn't have a heat press so I just wrapped a regular electric heating pad around the neck. All of the necks straightened out perfectly. I used the necks for some really sweet partscasters that I built. It's been around 7 or 8 years now and and Not a single one of the necks has had any problems since and the truss rods work perfectly.. I just keep everything tweaked and perform normal maintenance. The most difficult part of the whole procedure was having to remove the hollow wooden dowels that cap the truss rod adjusting nuts because the previous person tried to fix the bent necks by over-tightening the truss rod and stripping the nuts, which had to be replaced..

The suspense is killing me. Will the neck be straight? Will it retain its horrendous bend? I have to stay tuned, for part 2. Same bat time, same bat station. Wow!!!!

Oh, that's actually a US-made one! I'd first thought it was one of the more affordable 'Tribute' ones made in Korea, because of the very pale headstock wood! I'd love to own an early one from the beginning of the 80's one day 🙂

@@mightyV444 I went there in the Navy, & worked at Clarke as a civilian. In Olongapo (Navy base town) I ran into some of the greatest musicians I've ever met. My old Navy buddy, pulled a fast one on me. I was dancing & 1 of the guitarist handed me his guitar! My buddy pushed me up on the stage. The only tune I could think of was Mott the Hoople version of Sweet Jane. I started of crunching chords, they had me dead by the 2nd rotation (Not sure what bar). Another Filipino walked in, with a beat to crap Mustang, a bassist & drummer. He whipped out every Jimi tune recorded (at that time 1976) note for note, then added his own twist. I mean those guys back then were absolutely great. Angeles City, not so much, as they were a juke box town. 1 thing I visited Olongapo as a long haired civilian. Hit my old haunts, saw the Squids acting totally apeshit. Realised I used to be like that!!! Lmao.
My old bass player is 76 now. He is 12 yrs older than me. But on a different note, his Moms 1st cousin was Sister Rosetta Tharpe!!! Honest to God. I was listening to a CD of her, in 1996, he came by & said "Home, that's my Mama's cousin!" His Mom later confirmed that. I was stunned.

Mines got a twisted neck only after a year of owning it which makes me very sad as it was one of my fav bass and that was despite looking after it really well and using the correct string gauge and the truss rod was fine when I got it and only needed a little adjustment since I owned it then it was unusable such a shame I never got a warranty card to fill out so I stupidly forgot and never looked into it as the bass was fine when got it ☹️
