I just came from a Brushbeater scout class and one guy there had desert DPM dyed green, it did really good. NC Scout himself also uses Desert DPM in a woodland environment, it's easier to darken a light pattern than it is to lighten a dark pattern.
My thought would be to buy some tan camo cloth, and test dye it, but small brush the dye on one color at a time. Set it, then rinse off. That way you could try loam, and greens and black in areas on the tan material. Another thought that is common on rifles now is to dribble Dawn on the rifle in fine patterns, and spray paint. You might try the soap dribble technique to prevent dye from attaching!!! PLEASE... remember when you are done with the cloth, satisfy yourself that it is camo in visible light at near and far, then IR/NVIS at near and far, and finally check its thermal image while worn, near and far and mitigate. Expect to be hunted in all three electromagnetic spectrums!!! Some dyes light up like glow in the dark under NODs or IR illumination! Party on! I bought three of these vests! Great content!!! 🫡
I just bought this very set from another company. I got 9 pouches, but I plan on ordering a few more. It was too good of a deal to pass up. The goal for now is to get back into shape, so this will be my hiking vest. I'll load it with enough gear, water, and food to get me out and back, plus some extra weight for conditioning. There is also a dpm Camelback that clips right into the four clip point in the back.
I'm interested in the experimental coloring results. I am thinking about it with my desert surplus things that stick out just a tad bit much in my area. But I'm just afraid that I'll just mess it up.
Curious how's heat management in these? Will the desert camo fabric covering the mesh ventilation trap more heat? I have a Mil-Tec modular vest system which is a very similar mesh molle system except no fabric covering the mesh allowing for full air pass through for maximum cooling. German made vest too. It's a similar vest to the British or Dutch Molle Ops surplus vests. Difference is they use modern straps in the back for adjustment instead of shock cord.
Attaching the pouches is a nightmare and my clips on the pouches cant be opened with one hand. No matter how hard I yank them it just stays closed and I have to use both hands to open them. Its so stiff that I could tear the vest off me when trying to open a pouch. No idea why its so stiff bot clips and the molle straps.
I've watched it twice and I still can't understand what you are saying when it comes to the company that you bought it from. Do you have a link to their website?

So far in my use I have not encountered any issue with heat dissipation.
