- Filmed in Pauline’s home of Edinburgh, Scotland, this video explores the making of the Celebrity Robots.
Farrar is one of hundreds of disabled artists in the UK and started her installations as a way to combat the feelings of isolation she experienced from being housebound.
Her work has evolved from doorstep displays that encouraged neighbourhood interactions to larger projects, where members of the public now regularly donate their unused items for her exhibits.
Celebrity Robots features 22 robotic representations of celebrities located around MAC, including Harry Styles, David Attenborough, Ozzy Osbourne, Freddie Mercury, Taylor Swift and more.
Farrar researched each celebrity in order to carefully select which objects fit with their characteristics - Benjamin Zephaniah’s ‘body’ is made from the same model of typewriter he began his prolific poetry career with.
Pick up a Celebrity Robot Trail from MAC’s Welcome Desk and join the hunt to find them all!
With thanks to Pauline Farrar, James Farrar and Rocky (canine assistant).
