    How good was Rivaldo actually? #GOAT
    New episode of a documentary series where I plan to present all the greatest players of all time and then give them a score so a ranking of the best players can be created. In this episode we take on Rivaldo who played for Barcelona and AC Milan for most of his career, not only one of the greatest forwards of all time but one of the greatest players of all time. See how Rivaldo ranks and just how good was he.

    Never overlooked this guy .. he assisted on about 60% of Ronaldo’s World Cup goals . I don’t think Brazil would win 2002 without him .. not even with Ronaldo being how great he is . Rivaldo and Ronaldo is one of the greatest forward pairs in history !!

      Totally agree, he was more decisive in the final 2-0 with German than Ronaldo, both goals he was involved, few people realize that. Ronaldo was an amazing striker, but without Rivaldo he wouldn't have striked as much.

    we had him at Deportivo just one season. This guy was INCREDIBLE. I love his story, how down to earth he is, humble, yet driven to the max. For the people that does not know, Rivaldo made a promise to his father in his deathbed, that he would become a professional football player. And not only did that, but won just about every throphy. Rivaldo is every inch as good as Zidane.

      @@scp3799 If we are based on statistics Rivaldo was better yes. But if you look into the overall influence, Zidane was more of a playmaker, Rivaldo was capable to score more. Both were decisive players and won more or less the same Internationally. Zidane, in his prime, was unbelievable, he cannot be overlooked.
      The only thing that, in my opinion, Rivaldo was way better than Zidane is that he TRULY loved to play. To play in your late 30's, early 40's...that's really hard. Because you have to stay fit, you loose most of the speed...Rivaldo went through all that in good leagues and played Champions league in his late 30's....and was still decisive, still scoring goals.
      Zidane retired with 34 years old...and he retired in a manner that was extremely irresponsible.

He is put on a pedestal because he had some memorable performances in important international tournaments like the world cup and the euro. I can’t rate him like Rivaldo who also was great for his national team and much better for his clubs. Zidane was inconsistent and forgettable for his clubs. He didn’t have a single full season of great play. I can give you multiple Rivaldo seasons that destroy Zidane’s best club season. Zidane was totally overrated.

  • @michaelmetcalfe4882
    @michaelmetcalfe4882 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    Congrats on the recent success. Well deserved. One thing though: I was under the impression that the issue with van Gaal was that he wanted Rivaldo to play wide but stay wide - he was big on structure and didn't like wingers drifting inside and possibly hurting the team's attacking width. Rivaldo himself wanted a more central attacking role - either as a drifting inside winger or as a number 10.
    I wasn't watching La Liga regularly at the time so, as with my comment on your other video, I'm willing to admit I might be wrong. But that was the impression I had.

      Yes rivaldo asked to talk to the team and demanded that he play as a number 10 so van gaal said sure, but in the second team. Players like guardiola asked van gaal to let rivaldo play at number 10 as Barcelona stopped winning and scoring goals. This shows how important rivaldo was to Barcelona

He had temper and will never fake injuries and roll 20 times on the ground. His game against Valencia summarizes his career, which was great (world champ). He made a name for himself during a time where the best 9 in history was on the pitch with him (Ronaldo). He's indeed, one of the best in the history of this sport.
