This is similar to my friend's story. Her mother sold her as a child to support her habit. Eventually, she took her own life, in front of my friend. My friend's life goes as follows: In and out of jail. Dropped out of school early (probably middle school), prostitution since childhood, drugs, alcohol, abusive men, mental health issues, medical issues (stomach cancer), sui**** attempts, assault, lost custody of 2 children that were born with alcohol issues. This is the "legacy" left behind by a narcissistic sociopath that some people want to excuse because of addiction.🙄😡 She had all the potential in the world. I see glimpses of intelligence and she has the biggest heart. The fear is the ending to her story that is sure to come before her time. From a strictly utilitarian standpoint - it's too expensive to do it in prison. A lot cheaper to do it outside. You can probably lock up several perverts for the cost of keeping her inside. She's going to die. Sounds like it's metastasized. (Yea! Spelled it right for once.) Chemo, surgery, perhaps buys a couple of more years. At the cost of suffering.
As for pain meds, as a chronic pain patient for decades the limits of opiates are severe and the side effects can also be severe. It ain't a panacea. And the more pain you're in, the less high you get. AFter a certain point, the opiates make the pain _worse._ Sounds weird but it absolutely is a thing.

    • @blazeron12

There is not if’s and’s or but’s about it her is going to DIE a very very painful death. If her own children including the Victim is in favor or her getting out and being placed into the nursing facility, Than who are WE as the public/Strangers to say that we feel she should have been kept locked up, Let her die in prison. Always Remember Luke 6:37(esv) “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven” We as a society have to respect that her daughter as her victim has forgiven her and asked for her release to the health facility. And as unfathomable as it may seem to you, is simply because you have never been addicted to drugs. Specifically crack. Never say never, because as horrible as this was I've seen even worse offenses committed by dope fiends from that era. Unimaginable acts of debauchery. When you're addicted to drugs, you don't even love yourself, so how could you effectively love or be responsible for someone else. Even if you birthed them into the world. She should have served what was left of her prison sentence. I used to have a problem with prescription painkillers, and i never would have dreamed of doing anything remotely like what she did. I remember having money and needing something and waiting hours because my childrens father was picking them up and i was waiting until they were gone to go out and get what i felt i needed at that time. My girls were 5 and 7 then and there was no way i was going to bring them to the house where i had to go to buy something and i sure as heck wasn’t going to leave them home alone. So i waited, mildly uncomfortable, put on a kids show, made popcorn and snuggled with them on the couch til their dad showed up. It was about 6 months later that i finally got clean. Addiction is no excuse, it just isn’t. I did some things i wasn’t proud of, mostly shoplifting and other scams that ripped off stores, but that was my line in the sand mentally if that makes sense. I felt low enough doing that.
And to do that to a child, my god, your own child, not that doing that to someone else’s child would be any better. I really don’t understand it, and in the last 6 months before i finally got clean my addiction got pretty bad. I finally realized one day that it had literally been months since i had gone a day without taking some type of narcotics. That was 12 years ago and it was scary. But i never in a million years would have ever considered using a child to get drugs. It boggles the human mind and sears the conscience. That poor little girl. She is grown now and she might be saying that she would like her mother released but she might be caving to some pressure from other family members. Or saying what she thinks she should say. No one was there to protect her when she was 8, i think the parole board should protected her now by refusing her mothers request.

Exactly. Any addict I've ever known would rather face full blown withdrawal than do what this lady did. It's no excuse.
Your morals don't die when you become physically addicted to a substance, contrary to popular belief. You still have to make an active choice to put your needs ahead of others by committing a crime with the goal of getting money for the drug. It's true that being addicted makes committing certain crimes like theft slightly more tempting. But the follow-through is a choice. She chose to do this to her baby.

I don’t think she deserves it tbh. It’s very selfless of her, but I bet there’s a reason that the daughter that had that happen to her isn’t there. If it was true that everyone in the family is supportive, I feel it would’ve been more impactful to have the victim saying those things.

I am confused about one part. This daughter on screen says she is the oldest and that recently in March was her first time visiting her mom in person, since SHE was 6 years old, and she said the victim in this case is her middle sister, so then that means the middle sister had to be younger than her if she was 6 at the time of her first visit. That's all. But this is a sad case.
