From that part of the world, I like the Yellow Turban Rebellion. But I used that as a basis for one of my actually stories, so it felt weird to adapt it for a video here.
Absolutely. Of course, it didn't end well for Joan herself. The Powers That Be hold a lot of cards. I played her once in George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan in high school. Still remember the monologue: If, if, if. If ifs and ands were pots and pans, there'd be no need for tinkers. I tell you, Bastard, your art of war is no use, because your knights are no good for real fighting. And then it goes on for quite a while haha.
Of course, you're in the world builder. You can implement anything, including magic DNA mixing, or anything else. In my urban fantasy, my fairies procreate by entering a grove filled with fairy dust and giving up parts of themselves that are then mixed into a new being. They then grow back slightly different after each time they procreate. So, yeah, go wild :D
@@JustInTimeWorlds in my mind, dragons are composite creatures that have genetic material from synapsids, sauropsids, basal reptiliomorphs, amphibians and actinopterygians.
My dwarves are all male. They'll greco roman wrestle, and the loser gets shorn by the winner, that beard is then put in a pot next to the hearth, mixed with shavings of metal and stone chips, and alcohol, and tended to daily by the loser. This pile will eventually grow into a new dwarfling.
This is a really good video, it reminds me of the good old TH-cam days. I'd expect this level of insight to be paywalled behind Skillshare. Thank you so much for this in-depth critical thinking exercise. I admit I wasn't expecting much, just a bunch of historical events in a tier list that can be reskinned into plots. But this was So SO good for actually creating real integral plots!
In my book, one of the main plot lines takes heavy inspiration from Caesar vs Pompey and the battle to control the Roman republic, both generals have a POV as they try to secure alliances and outwit the other on the battlefield.
The tradition for the Merevigian royals to wear their hair long, combined with their strong ties to the Christian church, and upon defeat having their hair cut to symbolise their loss of power echoes the Biblical story of Samson.
Yeah, it does have an echo, but they had long hair thing even as pagans (before the conversion to Christianity), so it might be a case of convergent cultures. That being said, if I was writing the story, it would DEFFO have impact and be built into the world as a central religious myth and ALL THE THINGS haha. History can be wishy washy about these links, but in a story, those links are parts that make the story feel solid and the world real.
Question: @12:15 - who's the fourth son? Also, what if Clovis knew way in advance that his death would cause a chaotic power struggle? How about the "Clovis' curse" or the "whatever-name-that creature was" curse? there you go, you wanted consequences for power? every pack made with these creature will cause the curse to be activated upon the death of the signatory. Ofc those gems also extend life by a few decades.
Clovis had a whole whack of children. I think I trimmed it down to 3 for the sake of the story. The full list is: Chlodomer Childebert I Chlothar I Clotilde Theuderic I His naming strategy seems to have been: ALL THE Cs! (oh and Theuderic. We don't talk about him)
When it comes to the church what do you think all the factions uniting two defendants of the guess the church and they'll become some fictional equivalent of protestantism
So I'm in Europe and if the currency isn't in $ it should be in € (Euros), which is basically 1 to 1 with the dollar. I think it's currently 1.1 USD to 1 Euro, so €3 is $3.3
What historical event would you chose as a base?
I’ve got a few historical events I would like to use
Maybe The Boxer Rebellion.
The chinese civil War

I'm doing one with the 30 years war
Foul woman, how dare you get my creative juices flowing while I'm stuck at work! 😂😂😂Great video, really enjoyed it!
Sorry... not sorry :D
You know.... A Joan de Arc character, a commoner who rises to power through a religious belief, could add a twist

This video feels like 2013 youtube, so refreshing!
I’ll take it as a compliment 🫣🤷♀️😄
0:27 That's basically the plot of Elden Ring. I can tell this is gonna be good. :3
Came across your channel yesterday, I've started binge watching/listening to you whilst I paint my Dark Elf army.

That is a great choice :D That war and the politics around it is a fascinating one.
Hey, I caught your videos on my personal channel and you earned a follower from the RPG community. Thank you for the thought provoking world building.
Welcome! I love TTRPG, been a GM for twenty odd years :D
@@JustInTimeWorlds I never doubted it! 😆
Part of this is similar to my world and plot. This really gave me more ideas. I really want to write something worth reading.

That’s why Battletech is awesome.. 😊

What do you think of the managerial class becoming their own faction an organizing the common people
Absolutely. That would likely lead to some kind of revolution.
This is an amazing video
Thank you 😊
The setting of the story I’m working on right now might or might not be loosely based on the splintering of the Carolingian Empire after Louis I. 👀
It's a VERY interesting time in history as well :D
When it comes to the church what do you think all the factions uniting two defendants of the guess the church and they'll become some fictional equivalent of protestantism
It could certainly work, especially if you have some external enemy threatening them as well
They don't have to do it together but sure. You can have a king Henry VIII of England and a scholar like Luther or something.
Meet the new boss.
Same as the old boss...
How's that for a realistic & grimdark ending?
I looked into downloading your free template and possibly buying something but don’t recognize the currency. Help. I am America based with $

Are you South-African? Your accent sounds familiar
I am :)
@@JustInTimeWorlds called it! Nice to be seeing more content creators from home these days
This gives me few ideas already...
