It didn't happen like this in the book or in Warcraft 3. Uther was fighting to his best, not hesitating at all. In the game the strategy is swarm Uther with ghouls since Arthas is level 2 or 3 while Uther is a fucking level 10, while on the book Arthas beat Uther with his speed since Uther was like a fortress.
It also mentioned that he nearly killed arthas.
yes, during the battle, Uther knocks Arthas and sent the frostmourne away from his hand, he was just about to delivered a killing blow to Arthas, suddenly the frostmourne flies back into arthas hands with lich king's help that wounds uther which led him to fall from his kness, then killed him afterwards. If it is a fair fight and no lich king's intervention, Arthas will be defeated by Uther.
I half expected to hear “Our hero has fallen” when the paladin deathcry sounded lol

The campaign does an excellent job at portraying how hard it would be to kill Uther
I had to use 30 ghouls while holding position since Uther would bubble 5 times in the fight and nearly instakill my ghouls with his lvl 3 Holy Light and shit man his aura gave him like 10 armor total. HEROIC armor.

Nicely done. Animation needs a bit more work but this will happen soon enough as you practice, no doubt about it. The more you make, the better you will get. I love the models you used . More importantly I liked the conflict you added in the video. We dont see the doubt and regret reflected within the minds of both Uther and Arthas in Warcraft III. Uther, has lost his king, but also his pupil. Someone that, not only did he have high hopes for, but also considered a brother. Arthas in his madness has forsaken everything, but a part of him still lingers and remembers Uther's lessons and there is obvious regret. The hesitation in Uther, and then the young Arthas cameo was beautifully done. Keep it up!
It's better than what reforged gave us
I like the way Uther touches Arthas' face in his last moment. Kinda goes against the whole "I dearly hope there's a special place for you in hell" line a moment before, but it's a nice touch. It's pretty clear in some ways Uther was more of a father to Arthas than Teranas, and this moment remains one of the best in all of Warcraft history.
For all his hatred there's still part of him that does love Arthas, I just feel I maybe transitionned it too fast
@@SirThompshire He likely thought that the Arthas he cared about who'd been a paladin was still somewhere inside Death Knight Arthas.
I mean Arthas might have used this illusion trick to strike Uther faster, paladins are great in defence if I was as cold hearted as him there is no shame using that technique against his mentor/god father.

If you want something more close to "canon", go read Arthas: Rise of the Lich King. Uther's death is a little bit more blodyer, but I won't spoil it for you.

So cool seeing how much effort you put into it during live streams. It turned out really good, models, setting, lighting, over all atmosphere... everything.

We.'ll meet him in the shadowlands next xpac. He's the main "soul" in one of the zonea
Does it count as a revival if all you're meeting is his soul? I doubt he'd be staying in our world at the end.
@@RedJackz well that's the thing in such arcs...especially in fantasy ...in magic the gathering ...ugin the spirit dragon was dead and gone ...insert his spirit...time travel then timelines changed and he came back....they did the same with grom hellscream for a bit...so quite possible...may not be time travel but spirit well ...etc etc....his character has potential and is under utilized

I really liked the creative license you took with their "duel" at the very end. Him actually winning and not being able to kill him. Fits with the story both due to Arthas famously not being able to be a good swordsman and also Uther's power as a Paladin.
He wasn't famously a poor swordsman. He was worse than varian who had been training longer. Which probably says more about varians skill than arthas. Technically arthas was forced to rely mostly on skill and experience to defeat illidan who at the time was stronger.

@@Yaco_the_Warrior never claimed he could, I said that he wasn't a famously poor swordsman and that illidan was more powerful at the time they fought forcing him to rely on skill rather raw power. Furthermore you could then get into the argument of, uther couldn't beat arthas without the light. which is an external force that grants power like frostmournr and directly counters deathknights. Or that illidan couldn't beat arthas without being hopped up on demon juice, its a moot point is my point. I was simply commenting on how tired I was on the "Arthas sucked at fighting and was a spoiled brat because once Varian was better than him" neverminding the other decade of his life . Besides arthas might not have been better than illidan in a fight but he was an infinitely better character.
First of all, Arthas was not a poor swordsman and there's no indication about that. He just wasn't the best, which is completely different.
Second, Uther was stronger than Arthas at that point but keep in mind there's a big age difference between them and that translates in a lot of combat experience. Arthas wasn't even close to his full potential and Uther counters him with ligh. I suppose at that point Arthas was still learning to use Frostmourne and it's powers and overall was still adapting to his DK form/powers but this is just a speculation.
Third, In Arthas vs Illidan duel they were almost equal with Illidan having the edge but he got careless and Arthas took advantage of his mistake, thus winning. While Arthas got his powers restored and maybe even increased at the start of the duel by the LK channeling all he had in Frostmourne, Illidan was stronger because of the skull of Gul'dan power. Going into an argument like X doesn't beat Y without this or that is stupid, each character got his power in his own way.
As a side note: Arthas holding his ground against such a powerful demon like Illidan and managing to use to oportunity to beat him proves that Arthas is a very good swordsman

On one hand, this is awesome, absolutely amazing animation. On the other hand, Uther seeing goofy looking low polygon child model of Arthas made me laugh. And when Uther says "I DEARLY HOPE THERE'S A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL WAITING FOR YOU ARTHAS!" to which Arthas replies in edgy manner "We may never know, I intend to live forever" after which Uther awkwardly strokes his cheek. These seemed more silly than sad to me, however I might be the minority. Still, it's rare to see such good animations.
Well yeah looking back at this since its an older video I can definately see some glaring flaws, but hey, gotta do better next time!

Was this done in UE5? The characters look awesome. As if they were made for motion capture except there was no motion capture. The expressions look a bit limited. With motion capture this might be (ofc way more expensive) the best capture of this scene ever, including all of Blizzards work. You already put their cheap butts to shame with this work.

And it's UE4, and well honestly this is a style I've grown not to be fond of for wow models, they end up looking too "gritty" which in my opinion does not fit their aesthetic (plus it's a pain in the ass to do lmao)

This is amazing I love it :) . Some of the sounds are weird but it's hard to make or find some of the right sound effects. Some of the moment is weird. But this does definitely holds the spirit of Warcraft 3 !! Lighting and the models look really really good !

The wow novel 'King Arthas' put a lot more weight to this scene. Arthas almost lost the fight initially, and was deeply affected by how anguished Uther looked when he was killed.

My biggest complaint is Arthas isn’t riding Invincible. It was one of the first things he did when he returned to Lordaeron.
It is my vision of invincible, the one you see in wow and the one you see in wc3 are completly different, this mount I used was meant to replicate the wc3 version

Tbh, your creative liberty with Uther's character feels severely out of place and really substracts from the immersion. Nice animation work, though.
The "Hell" line woudn't be spoken by someone who'd hesitate to finish off an opponnent because they shared some warm feelings back in the day, so it should have been dropped.
That line is coming from the heart of the 'book' Uther, who honors his oath on Terenas' grave that he'll stop Arthas as his duty and last act of loyalty. That man has already found his conviction to do the "right thing" and Arthas only won through the power of the Lich King, not because Uther wavered in any way.
Yeah thats all fair, with probably do a bunch of things differently if I did it today
