I had total knee replacement surgery on 9/12/24 and was very painful and my whole leg bruised. Started PT the following Monday and just worked through the pain and did the exercises the PT showed me. Today 9/26/24, my bruise is about 90 percent gone and now I'm using a cane to walk now. Pain is about 2 on a scalel of 10. I can now do 10-12 min on the stationary bike with slight pain. My bend degree is already at 120. PT is Going great!! My age is 46, so I'm sure being middle aged definitely helps with the healing factor. Honestly, I could go without the cane now but I'm just being cautious, definitely take care of your knees people, this by far was horrible pain!!
Had both replaced over this summer 7/31 and my pain level was strange because the left was a lot worse than the right but only lasted a week to 10 days ...do the therapy, what a difference ...
Had mine 8/2/24 the bone pain I had before surgery was gone immediately. Hardest part was learning to walk without a limp. I put it off for 7 years. If I ever have to do it again I am not waiting.
I had total knee replacement on both knees last year six months apart. I went to the hospital physio gym weekly and worked hard as I wanted a good result. I was 64 years old on my second surgery. I was back at work 3 months after my second surgery albeit on light duties for 3 months as I have quite a hands on physical job as a plant maintenance fitter. I have now reached 65 years old and my recovery is so good I am not going to retire for atleast another year. Thanks to modern surgery and a positive attitude. I must admit first week after surgery wasn't a nice experience but the old saying no pain no gain.
I had a TKR on November 4,2024. No pain whatsoever! The worst was my sore throat. Took Tylenol a few times for that but nothing for pain per se. A million times better than what I anticipated.😊
Here's my story. I am 70. Had my hip done 08 22, right knee 06 23, left knee 06 24. In 3 and a half months after 06 24 I 'm playing hockey, pickleball and hiking. It goes without saying that you have to do the physio, before and after. Quite amazing.

Hello. Which technique is best and/or safeest and has the best outcome? Zimmer, Mako, Bepuy? There are so many options, and it's quite overwhelming to pick the best protocol for my 82yr old grandmother. Any advice/insight you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
There are a lot of options and it can be confusing. Write down all of your questions and visit several doctors to make sure you find the one that is best for you. Good luck!

@williamrodriguez5070 I had the same feeling that you had - no way in hell and I put it off. a year, later the pain and mobility problems were just to much so I decided to try the surgery on the worst knee and three weeks later I had wished I did it sooner . since then I got the second knee replaced and it's been a total change in my lifestyle... so this is only my experience and hopefully you can find relief from your pain
