How the RIA is shaping a sustainable SUGARCANE industry in Uganda? | Sugarcane Sub-sector in Uganda

The acronym name RIA stands for Regulatory Impact Assessment. In November 2022, the government, in collaboration with stakeholders like the Ministry responsible for Agriculture, Trade, Finance and the National Agricultural Research Organization, recognized the need for a thorough review. That’s when the RIA process began. EPRC with support from the Cabinet Secretariat was tasked with leading this effort to understand how policies and regulations impact every part of the sugarcane value chain-from farming to processing and value addition.
