Alan Jackson is a classic himself. He's timeless and both his talent and values will continue to hold up throughout generations. He's truly one of the country music greats.

Country music now, is NOT country music! Alan Jackson is right! Legends like him, George Strait, Chris Ledux, Gary Allan, Don Williams, George Jones, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Brooks, Loretta lynn, Willie Nelson etc. etc. etc. so many more are what real Country music is!
I agree with you to an extent. Here's why. The artist you named has molded country music. Then you add in the artists to looked up to those artists bringing their sound and their story sounding similar ( not the same) as their idols. Making country music sound a little different. So when you add someone like George Strait there is someone similar like Aaron Watson or Cody Johnson. If you get my point. There will be country artists today that have to use elements of their favorite time. A good example is Brooks and Dunn. One of their big hits was with Luke Combs. Who brings a 90s sound/style with modern sounds as well. Shoot look at Mason Ramsey. That boy can yodel not many artists do that. We are being given older sounds in a modern fashion. Which is fine. It's where country music artists come in and bring in the Pop element to it. So to an extent part is there will be acts like Florida Georgia Line that everyone hates. But look at them then think about Big and Rich! They are somewhat similar. Both of them have rocking songs to sad songs. They even ✌️quote in quote ✌️ split up but not completely to do there own things. It's the Kane Brown's and Walker Hayes Chase Rice and others that make people think the way they do.

@Mr.Burrow well if you want to be technical, African Americans directly influenced every genre by creating the blues. You can hear it's influence in every song( decent ones anyway)
I saw Alan Jackson live in Paso Robles, Ca when Chattahoochee first came out and he was just becoming well known. I will never forget, he sung his heart out and 1/2 way threw he said there would be a short intermission. He then said he was going to take that time to give thanks where thanks belongs, and proceeded to sing, from the bottom of his heart, Christian Hymns. I sat there the entire time with tears flowing down my face with more love and respect than imaginable. AJ's the best!!!!!
It means so much to me and I’m sure others that he is not ashamed of his deep faith and that’s what so love about him. How fortunate you were to see him sing songs thanking that One who made it all possible. God bless Mr. Jackson and his family. ✝️☮️
Don't forget George Strait. H also is a believer in the real C/W music. When they both sing together, their harmony is awesome. In that CWA show, they cut down George Jones. I mean Nashville did. That's another reason why Alan Jackson walked out. Nashville wanted him to sing a cut down version of his own song. Nashville forgot how much money George Jones made them. To me that was totally disgraceful to one of our biggest legend.
@@ericsniper9843It’s not hate. There are Award Shows for all kind of genres. But Beyonce has NO place at the CMA, no disrespect. She is not a country star. It's a bit like the Rock N' Roll Hall of fame. I do not think rap is something that should be awarded there. Just my opinion.
I'm with Alan on this! I'm 58 years old and grew up on traditional Country music! I miss the Hag and George Jones! Long live Traditional Country music!
Good for you AJ. Charlie Rich walked out of one and never went back. The industry has totally ruined the music. There is very little individualism in the songs nowadays. They all sound the same. They all have the same words and message. Take away words like girl beer tailgate truck and the rest of the cliches and they couldn't write a song. Someone needs to go to Walmart and get themselves an original thought. Rap has no place in county music and the pop queens should be played on a pop station. Real country singers are out there but tone deaf arrogant executives are ruling the world of radio and listeners be damned. DJ are not allowed to play what they want. They are puppets. Watch Coal Miners Daughter. You will see how country use to be.
Every generation of country fans have some negative views of the up-and-comers. They should be welcoming them because they're the ones who'll keep country music alive.
Just watching this a couple of days after hearing that Dolly Parton declined a nomination to the Rock and Roll hall of fame. She said she never earned such a spot. It's good when people know who, what, and where they are in the scheme of things and stick with their genuine authentic genre rather than being all over the map.
When I first heard that Dolly was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I was SO confused!! I thought it was a joke really. Then i found out it was real and thought..."Dolly Parton, in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?, it just dosent seem right" and then Dolly turned it down and I smiled, because Dolly is still 'real', and never sold out just to advance her career or gain something just for the sake of fame. Thank you Dolly!!!
Dolly just produced a one hour tv special that was a love letter to all her fans. She simply sat in a chair talking and singing some of her finest classic songs. Dolly talked just like an aunt who had seen everything and was just saying ,"It's ok,we are going to be just fine." through her great music. The entire hour was a very unhollywood hour of reflection, class and love from a legendary singer. I watched the whole hour and was glad Dolly produced it so she could say what she wanted to say the way she wanted to say it.
All i got out of this is that Alan Jackson is uptight, and lack of respect for new generations that may not share his extreme values, at the end of the day its just the CMAs, not everyone should have to have the same values as him. Still love his music but what a party pooper lol
@@mikeymike8705 What I meant by EXTREME is that it means SO much to him, that he forgets It's not just about him and his traditional views, it's about what other generations love as well. All I'm saying is ALL main music genres change. And It's normal for us to have a special place for OUR music we grew up with, but that's us, what about the younger generation who doesn't have that special tie to that music, the ones that added their twist to it that they love along with the new generation. Might be trash to you and me, but not to them. It's not right or wrong. Alan Jackson just reminded me of my dad, who thought my 80s rock was trash because it wasn't like Led Zeppelin or the doors. Etc. At the end of the day it is not a big deal though, it's just music, we have our classics.
It's even worse now in 2022. Radio 'Country' is just pop with an Alabama accent. That's why I still have Highwaymen and Glen Campbell cds in my car 24/7. And award shows have to be in Vegas? What happened to Nashville?
It would be nice to have more young groups like Rascal Flats and a few other bands that aren't afraid of showing their roots and including some gospel and bluegrass on their recordings.

You should know how to spell his name - first of all Alan Jackson is an "ok" singer - he doesn't have phenomenal range - there's lots of singers - they are everywhere + but not many are 6' tall with long flowing hair and blue eyes + I saw Alan Jackson the day after he signed a record deal - what sets this dude apart is his ability to do write - I'm from the country - not a suburb of a suburb but 2 hrs from the nearest city - same county as Bill Monroe - Bill Monroe truth be told would tell you Alan is more Hollywood than country - because his perspective was different - to people like him if you had a drummer in the band it ain't so country - When Hank Williams was new - he was considered " prog" No body had heard anything like it - You can use labels all you want - Alan Jackson has never ridden a tough horse in his life - it's what I do for a living - who's more country ? My life is horses, dogs, cats , and loud screaming guitars - the girls love it by the way - anyhow I'm out here in the woods as I write this - I had my hands on over a dozen horses before 6 am - your man Alan is either in his multimillion$ bus or his multimillion $ home - who's more country?

@@davidrice3337 I totally understand what you are saying, and no Alan cannot hit every range, like his singing at George's funeral and rendition of HSLHT is not how George did it. Like Bill Monroe is Bluegrass, which I appreciate. I think of my mother's generation. She grew up just like Loretta Lynn only on a mountain in Tennessee. I grew up listening to Loretta and others on country radio in the sixties and 70's. My cousins in Tnn had to come off the mountain and work in town if they did not want to be miners. When Alan came along in the early 90's, he appealed to people like me and my cousins because no, we were not as country as our parents were, or people like you, but he was way more country than the pop country radio era of the 80's and he reminded us of growing up listening to what mom and dad did. Seriously---he got all upset and walked out just because Beyonce came out and sang for one song with the Dixie Chicks? That's so ridiculous and petty. Just shows how tired and stuck in the mud country can be.
I haven’t watched any awards shows in years because of this kind of things. Country music is in its own class. The only time I listen to it now, is in my car, that’s it. Last time I was in my car according to life 360* was 12 days ago.
There are different genres of music, each one having its own individual style. Each one being separate, and having its own personal identity. This is what makes people appreciate the VARIETY. When the music industry began mixing different genres together, they blurred the lines, and things have not been the same. 🎼🎵🎶🎹
When you say blurred the lines what exactly do you mean? Artists branching out and collaborating with artists from other genres? I hope not since they are artists and that’s what they do. If you mean real country turning into Rascal Flats type garbage then I agree, but most top country these days are in my opinion more pop music than country. Country to me is Cash, Waylon, Jackson, Colter Wall, Sturgill Simpson etc.. not what you hear on country radio for the most part or topping Nashville charts

I stopped listening about 8 years ago myself. Prior to that, you could actually tell the difference in style and voice between the artists. Now a days, all the male singers sound exactly alike with their oversaturated auto-tune dubbed vocals, and all they sing about is wanting to score, sometimes with other dudes. No thanks! As for Alan walking out, it's funny how for years I only heard that he "walked out during the Dixie Chicks performance", which I could understand, but it did make him sound a bit diva. Until I watched this video, I had no clue that satanic Beyonce was part of the act. Now, I'm outraged that the Dixie Chicks didn't walk out as well!🤬
These weirdos have been allowed to infiltrate their way into every aspect of our lives. I’m so grateful Antonio got to live in a good country while we had one.
AS HE SHOULD!!Way to go Alan Jackson. First of all it's country music, second there's more than enough country music legends who could have preformed and/or received recognition! He clearly isn't ashamed of his core values or beliefs. We need more artist like him!
@Devan Shepard why didn't they have a traditional country artist up there? She is not country. You're missing the point. The whole show was to celebrate 50 years of country. If Alan Jackson was singing in a pop music celebration, I'd say wrong too. It's sad how race has to be brought into it.
@@donnaschatte9515 um maybe cause it's there show and they can invite whoever they want. Beyonce was singing a country song. Race was brought up cause it came off racist. The CMAs are the ones that invited her to sing her COUNTRY song. What part of that doesn't click for you? This dude and everyone supporting him are pussies lmao, grow up. Beyonce was the only one who could save the dogshit ratings for the show I guess :)
And yet when black athletes kneel "for something" folks like you get all hot and bothered. And what I mean by "folks like you" is conservative, white, and likely 'Christian' folks.
I remember in the 80's when country music lost it's way and country pop was being forced down the throats of country fans on country radio. There's always a backlash and it takes new artist's to bring it back to it's roots. For me, those artist's in the 80's who helped bring it back were Randy Travis and Keith Whitley. Today it's artist's like Cody Johnson. I guess the pendulum will always swing when it comes to country music.
This is why Alan Jackson is my all time favorite male country artist. I have his t-shirt "Im Bringing Country Back". After listening to country radio stations for over 40 years, I have changed the dial. When I want to listen to true country music, I listen to my Alan Jackson cds. His latest cd "Where Have You Gone" has 20 dynamite songs of true country music. Thank you to Alan Jackson for keeping it traditional country music!!!!
I'm not really a country music guy, (I'm more of an 80's rocker) but I do applaud Alan Jackson's stance on this matter. I do not say this with any disrespect to country artists or their fans, but I've always felt that country music has lost it's identity in the 2000's... perhaps even earlier than that. Trying to evolve country music by crossing over with, say, hip hop, or rap is not evolution... it is mutation. Country and rock is a much better melding, but I know there are traditionalists who would balk even at that notion. Again, no disrespect. Personal opinions only. Good video, Country Cast. Thanks for sharing.

Much respect to Alan for doing this. He did the same thing back in 99, when they wouldn’t give George Jones a longer time slot to sing his complete song, so George forfeited going. Alan sang his song, and proceeded to sing Jone’s song “Choices”. There’s a reason why the Dippy Twits aren’t relevant in country music anymore. Their feud with Toby Keith didn’t help them much either!!! God Bless traditional country music, and traditional artist.
Alan Jackson is a legend in country music. God bless him for walking out on the act, enough ramming PC performances down our throat, get back to real country music like Alan Jackson and others.
He’s completely in the right!! Standing up for country music and this country! Always has, always will!! This is the type of person who needs to run this country!!
Yeah, that's all we need is another celebrity president. The intelligent founders of America would be shocked at how America chooses it's leaders today. On the other hand some of them were slave owners so maybe we shouldn't follow their moral guidance either.
We need people like Alan Jackson in country music now . It’s gone pop . It’s lost it’s traditional values. Some of the people in country music now are very good . They just aren’t country.
Country music needs to be reinvented in order for a traditional renaissance to occur. And when I say reinvented I mean fiddles, banjos, steel guitars, and ten gallon stetsons with a nice suit. Country music today is on life support.

And moments like that when Alan Jackson makes a stand for traditional country music like out on the 50th year Play country music awards or when Alan Jackson in mid way of playing his song of pop a top make sure to switch to George Jones song of choices make sure that he got the proper respect that he was so richly deserved so like that to make sure that traditional country music still gets the proper respect is why fans that love that traditional country music totally love Alan Jackson
Not the first time he's sent a message to "the powers that be". He did it in '94 with the "Gone Country" (lip-synch protest) , and he did it for his long time friend and mentor , Mr. George Jones at the '99 CMAs (with Pop A Top, and Choices ), when they told George he couldn't have time to sing his entire song.
Let's not forget when Strait & Jackson did, "Someone committed Murder, down on music row"! Made the pop singers masquerading as country singers squirm. Loved it.
@Michael Garrett It didn't have anything to do with him respecting the "genre". It had to do with the fact that this was the *50TH* anniversary of the CMAs. How would Beyonce like it if George Jones (God rest him) got up and sang a song for the 25th anniversary of the VMAs!?
@Michael Garrett He told an interviewer later at some point that there were *SO* many other performers they could have chosen, to celebrate such a milestone. Think of all the greats in *just* those 50 years they could have used to fill that slot, is all I'm saying. And the CMAs have slowly melded into the VMAs , as bad as it is, considering most of the stuff labelled "country" isn't , really anyway. If I'd been Alan, I'd not even bothered to go.
@Michael Garrett Soooooo, they should have just flat out ignored people who helped *MAKE* country what it was for 50 years? And Young Country changing the face of it.....................not for the good I might add. I.E. Lyrics to a "Maddie and Tae" song Well, I wish I had some shoes on my two bare feet And it's gettin' kinda cold in these painted-on cut-off jeans I hate the way this bikini top chafes Do I really have to wear it all day? (Yeah, baby) ----------------------------- Versus lyrics from David Allan Coe Would you lay with me in a field of stone If my needs were strong would you lay with me Should my lips grow dry would you wet them dear In the midnight hour if my lips were dry Would you go away to another land Walk a thousand miles through the burning sand Wipe the blood away from my dieing hand If i gave my self to you
@@jadefire2817 they should have showcased the many families that have come up through the ranks in country music like Roseanne Cash, Rascal Flats and so many others that have stuck with this tradition in Country/Western and how about putting a true Western band on it like Sons of the Pioneers. The Western seems to be disappearing from Country/Western.
Love Alan Jackson for standing up for Traditional Country and those who made it so great. Sadly, it is Music Executives and Producers who now want those cross over pop artists while they delete key "Traditional" names from their playlist and their record labels. I remember Dwight Yokem going to bat for Johnn Cash in his record label dropping him, same with Dolly Parton in her label and having to fund her own recording. Has Beens vs. RESPECT is not cool. Sadly, it doesn't have to be just a 50th Anniversary of Country celebration to create controversy as an Award show, shows in general are becoming very uncool per their virtue signaling.
What Country is doing is they are doing is either the pop or 95% of the songs a group does are what should be modern Southern Rock. There is even a Two man Group Left Lane Cruzer from Alive The one Black Keys main label they bought out, that is more Blues Country and more Country then most being promoted now but since they are from Northern Indiana in the Fort Wayne area and on the Black keys Lable they get ignored. It is a sucky time and even a band from Canada Corb Lund has been for years ignored by the masses since they are Canadian Country even in Canada they get the same treatment by the big Country industry. It is sad the way Producers are going and I fear all music will have some crappy Pop stuffed into them because the labels and Industrial record companies force it, this same pop style we have been hearing for over 10 years since 2010.

I salute Alan Jackson. I,too, am a torch carrier for traditional country music. A night as monumental as that should have been to honor those who have carried the torch for traditional country music since it's inception. Pop and R&B music are wonderful genres, but CMA stands for Country Music Association and that's what needs to be showcased at such an event.
What do you call "traditional"?.. 50 years ago?.. 60? 100?..150? music changes constantly. Dwight Yoakam wasn't Tex Williams.. Tammy Wynette wasn't Patsy Montana.. Johnny and June weren't Lulubelle and Scotty.. I wouldn't want Beyonce attending either.. as a performer.. but things shift and I wonder how many of the "traditionalists" are old enough to have ever heard Hank Thompson's "Humpty Dumpty Heart' or Al Dexter and his Troopers' "Triflin' Gal" or Don Gibson's "Oh, Lonesome Me" I'm not bitching at you.. just pointing out the fact that as new people come along, the old traditions are easily swept aside and forgotten. I also understand his motivation for walking out. Leaving the show and not making a big noise about it says more than the words could.
@@philipanderson4673 there's a lot you missed. Marty Robbins, Charley Pride, Bobby Bare, Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Statler Brothers, and Kitty Wells. It's a very long list.

I grew up on traditional country aka country music, every morning Dad had it on the radio it filled the house or he had a tape or cd playing, but back then telling anyone in school I liked it or Kmart got me teased, until I got to highschool then it was perfectly fine to like it, I love country and 80's rock I feel that's real music most pop stuff these days all sound the same and it doesn't sound like music. people will get mad at me for this but I don't consider rap to be music give me George Strait anyway long live the king.
Was this performance in the video at the Station Inn in Nashville? The sign behind Alan Jackson indicates that’s where he was. 🤔 I love the Station Inn!!
I applaud Alan Jackson for doing so. Alan Jackson even made a statement in an interview awhile back, stating that true Country music is dying and is never coming back. Today's Country music is not the same and many of the Country music legends are gone now, like George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, etc., Most of today's Country music seems to be about fornication, adultery and partying, etc., things that have no true value or messages of hope to offer the world.

Couldn't agree with you more
There's heaps of good country music atm, just none are played on "country radio".
Don’t know if I’d put Garth brooks in the same category as George and Alan but hey. To each your own I guess.

I will never forget, he sung his heart out and 1/2 way threw he said there would be a short intermission. Just watching this a couple of days after hearing that Dolly Parton declined a nomination to the Rock and Roll hall of fame. She said she never earned such a spot. It's good when people know who, what, and where they are in the scheme of things and stick with their genuine authentic genre rather than being all over the map.
Yes..Dolly, Glows with Humble Joyfulness.. Still popular..

To me ts just disrespectful to just up and leave because it isn't the same as 20 years ago, not like this came out of nowhere, It's been like this, he shouldn't have gone at all. No body had heard anything like it -

I loved my parents, but they both were raised in that ignorance and I did not learn better until I went to an integrated school.Thank God I did. Alan seems too loving to treat people that way, I sure hope not. The jargon and other parts may be there in a way he does not realize, but it does need to go. I cannot understand how people could have been so ignorant and arrogant towards their fellowman, but when you are raised hearing and seeing it, you have to then learn it is wrong. Very appalling, horrific and sad. Maybe like the old caste system in India, the holocaust in Germany, and other times in history when humans wrongly lorded over other humans. I worked with a friend whose family come from Alabama. She was black and her daddy was a preacher and farmer who worked for a white man in construction. She said they worked together on crops and building according to the season and her community of black and white saw no color, only that they needed each other. That's how it needs to be and I wish all the south had been like her area.

Right on. You can’t top 90s country. Especially nowadays with most of the trash they push.
And also 80s country. By mid 2000s, country became mostly quite unrecognizable.

Stopped listening to the country music on the radio a few years ago , I listen on the internet where you can find traditional country, Thanks for standing for real country Alan !

There's always a backlash and it takes new artist's to bring it back to it's roots. For me, those artist's in the 80's who helped bring it back were Randy Travis and Keith Whitley. Today it's artist's like Cody Johnson. I guess the pendulum will always swing when it comes to country music.

I probably would have been a few steps ahead of him! Thank you, AJ for your Country & Western perseverance! It is truly appreicated...
Had I heard Beyonce was going to be there, I wouldn't have gone in the first place!
@@daryldorsheimer5725 Great point!
I agree with him. Keep country in the country.
Hello there Carol nice meeting you here
💯
Alan Jackson is a legend of country music
Alan Jackson spoke for all of us that love traditional country music. Today's so called country music is pure garbage! I salute Alan Jackson!
Garbage is correct!! 👍❤
Was this performance in the video at the Station Inn in Nashville? The sign behind Alan Jackson indicates that’s where he was. 🤔 I love the Station Inn!!
Alan Jackson's a Hero, this destruction of country music is sickening- this Country has Wrecked Country music and this Country.
I completely agree with Alan Jackson.
YOU, never listened to lyrics of 'past' country then... good grief...
Bill. Exactly. Divorce. Lying. Cheating. Adultery.
I noticed a few mention country/gospel. Yeah. That goes good together 😆. I love old country as much as anyone but there are some things that can’t be denied.
GREAT JOB Alan!!!! I’m SURE that if you showed up at the BET awards to perform you would have been mocked, and BOOED out of the place! Standing up for your beliefs….AWESOME! 👏
You're not going to find any hate at the BET awards. Why wouldn't the people welcome a performer of Jackson's caliber?

Good on him...standing or walking out...for legendary REAL Country singer's of old...
many, many, like Jones, Gosdin and Whitley also...
Classics of any genre are not like this day's song's or Movie's...the 70s and 80s had the best man...at least to me...
Props for Alan Jackson. More artists should have done the same. May he continue to stand up for country music.
A RARE person these days who stands up for his beliefs. RESPECT. GOOD FOR HIM!!! Great artist. Have always loved his music.
100% of my respect for Alan Jackson! ❤
So proud of Alan Jackson! I have nothing but respect for this man!
