- Get creative in your sketchbook. I'll show you five ways to create interesting backgrounds in your sketchbook. A blank white page can seem very daunting, so I encourage all my students to 'trash' their pages! Making washes, marks and patterns can free up your artistic mind and help you be more creative.

Hello from BC, Canada. Your page was in my feed this morning 😊 I love your techniques and will definitely give these a try. I am new to art journaling and loving it. It’s never too late to learn something new!
Hello… thank you 🙏 I’m so pleased that you’re going to try them out.. it’s such fun to just play sometimes. And yes, we’re never too old ❤
I really enjoyed this video and can’t wait to get some time to try out your ideas, especially the cling wrap one.
Thank you :) I'm so pleased. Have fun with the cling wrap.. it really does create fabulous patterns. I hope you can join me this Friday for the next tutorial.
Best wishes, Cate
I really enjoyed this video! Definitely going to try these techniques in my sketchbook! 💚💚💚
Thank you! So happy that you enjoyed it. I'd love to see your take on them.. I'm over on Instagram @CateFieldArtist :)
Such a fantastic lesson. Have prepared 3 pages already. Love your lessons. Thanks.
Glad you like them! Thank you x
I love these techniques! Thank you!!!
You are so welcome! I’ll be uploading another lesson on Friday 🙏
Mam, Based on this video I subscribed because I enjoyed your teaching approach and how thorough you were. Then I looked at your video list and found basically a bunch of shorts which I totally find unhelpful. Sorry but my subscription may be short lived.
Hello, thank you for your comments. As you can see, I've only recently started posting my art lessons. My plan is to post every Friday, a new lesson based on my many years of teaching in the classroom. :) I've been experimenting with 'Shorts' too, but I hope over time to produce a more comprehensive playlist of useful lessons. Thank you so much for taking time to give me feedback, it is very useful. Best wishes, Cate
@@CateField I appreciate your response and now understand your plan. Thank you! I look forward to Fridays!
