Its up to judges discretion but the general rule of thumb with damaged cards. As long as u can still "read" the effect and can at least make out the card name u can play it. Foreign cards u have to have the english translation on hand
Saw a dude on tiktok who set his entire deck as not English so his opponent is less likely to search what everything does 💀

And Here I am spending $18 on the Alt Art Winged Dragon of Ra and thinking that was a lot, Ruxin has me getting on TCG everyday looking for the cards in my childhood deck, and getting the ones I couldnt get back in the day, I have a new addiction, thanks Ruxin, lol.

Sometimes I get a card from TCGplayer at “near mint” with an obvious corner ding and not sure if I can complain and return.
Always complain because you didn't get what you paid for; if they give crap, give them a 1 star review and contact support

What I'd do:
Sell everything. Build Cyberdark/Cyber Dragon and use the rest to build a MTG deck
Solid decklist, seems familiar. ;)
I've been playtesting different things since that event and I'm actually feeling more confident about my current build, but this one is still an excellent starting point. Hope you have a lot of fun with it.

Pretty dope video but just proves how most sellers in tcg aren’t that great sadly. I’ve had a good amount of experiences were the card was listed near mint and for a verified seller also most good reviews. And their idea of near mint is a moderately played card.

Favorite card is easily Dark Magician, just since I'm such a Yugiboomer. The SDY art is my personal favorite, just cause it looks like the anime.

Very excited that you're finally getting into competitive Yugioh. It's so much fun if you can keep up monetarily with the meta or just have fun in the mid tier. I'm also glad you're doing this because that'll mean you actually know what you're talking about when you say a card is good or not XD.

Spending 4k on a deck shows why reprints are so needed in card games. There's no reason someone has to break the bank for a card they want in their deck

Cards are considered playable if 2 out of 3 of the "important" parts are visible and not altered. These parts are: Name, Picture, Cardtext.
Also for that Terraforming, I see those all the time like that.

Watching his review of the cards I think he's confused with the definition of mint/near mint vs PSA 10 mint. As long as a card has no major damage, bends, edge whitening, or obvious surface scratches, yes it is still considered to be mint/near mint. Just because a card is "mint/near mint" or "pack fresh" even, doesn't guarantee it will be 100% PSA 10 with no small lite scratches on the back of the card, bad print lines (manufacturer defect), and/or small miniscule dot indents (manufacturer defect) on the back. Blame Konami NA QA/QC for not caring and also cheaper card stock used compared to OCG cards. Also, of course you spent $4k+ when you're buying max rarity for certain things like Cosmic Cyclone (which in truth isn't even a "Dark Magician" meta deck card,....it's just a meta card so I don't think it really counts lol). Overall though, paying $40 a piece for stuff like super rare Red-eyes fusion was a mistake. Yikes!
I ended up over paying for el dorado and it hasn’t even shipped yet. Everyone else has it and I’m sitting here clueless because I trusted tcg player store for a pre order 😂should’ve went with the eBay guy

This decklist is Ryan Atlus's as shown in a deck profile video on Joshua Oosters' channel and got a joint 2nd place in a 3v3 team event at a local. Ruxin is building that list to be as expensive as possible based on superficial elements like rarity and the difference between LP and NM conditions that have no impact on gameplay, an undertaking he himself acknowledges as stupid. It's still very much a rogue deck, but to say "maybe it can beat a deck once out of ten tries, it is NOT good." isn't fair to Ryan Atlus or any more accurate than calling this deck meta (which it also isn't). What gets me is that much of the video is Ruxin scrutinizing the BACKS of cards which you never even see when playing the game because we sleeve cards and laying into sellers whose cards or how they package them aren't up to his unnecessarily demanding standards to make an unnecessarily expensive deck.
the whole arguement of LP vs NM is weird cuz I, as a magic player, bought 2 $40 cards in Japanese, one being LP and the other being MP, by my standards the LP was NM and the MP was LP only minor dings to the card that could happen during transport. everyone's standards are different but as long as there aren't tears I'm happy, basically I don't expect everyone to sleeve their cards to play since some of the cards I get are so old that they might well be from someone's original deck when they were learning to play, hell I used a Japanese Magical Hats that I found soaked in rain on the side of the road for years when I was playing YGO

Good investment! I wouldn’t sit here and say it’s not a good deck without any knowledge on its locals play. It’s the only deck I use, I go 4-0, 3-1 every week 4 days a week. Every meta VW, Swordsoul, Phantom knights player dreads going against my DMs
My son wanted a DM deck because of the anime. I keep having to buy support cards for it just so it can semi keep up with my other decks. Even Blue eyes just runs over it. I haven't bought anything of the $100 cards though. But I'm not going to put any more money into it just so it can beat a $30 deck for casual play.

Nice vid Ruxin! I'm a Blue-Eyes player myself, so for favourite card I would say skill drain since I run that myself. Absolutely unfair to get out 3000 Blue-Eye beaters while oppenent can't activate effects haha. $4000 is a lot though...not surpising considering YGO prices, but if you are able to spend it have fun haha. From personal experience, TrollandToad has better record for quality control, cards are usually NM when listed as such.

I've found tcg player is like playing Russian roulette with quality, wish you could see pictures before purchasing... however once in a while I've had cards in better condition then advertised, but the latter is usually the norm

I have Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon as well as Magician’s Left Hand and Magician’s Right Hand in mine with three Dark Magicians and three Magician of Dark Illusion.

First mistake was thinking a dark magician deck was meta. Terraforming is legal with the missing o.
I'd definitely send back the terraforming since the part of the name is missing would bug me too much. It could be due to a printing error or was unsleeved in a binder and the binder stuck to it and pulled it off (it's happened to me but I'd never leave an ulti unsleeved)

Usually people say pay to win... In this case I think it's pay to lose xD but honestly the deck is so nostalgic and I love dark magician
I wouldn't have spent that much on terraforming in the first place, the secret rare version happens to look better and is a lot cheaper but it'll be fine, its still legal.
I love dark magician. I'm no professional, but I rock a dark magician and exodia incarnate/obliterate deck and have a lot of fun with it!
I think the blue eyes deck was a better decision than this one 😂. This deck just has so many different engines- sky strikers, dogmatika apart from DM himself.

The sky strike engine is literally 2 cars in the main and 2 in the extra deck. I’ve ran both Dogmatika and no Dogmaitka several times and they do just as well as each other. 4-0 or 3-1 with DM every week
Looking back a year probably plus later and it's funny that this deck lost a bit of value because of souls I just got mine for 35 each
I've got cards that's been sleeved or in a binder since 96, that's all the print dates. How would a non collector go by getting them graded and priced.

I think is so cool ,worth it hehe, i would like yo see it in action. If you feel that a card doesn't work only take out the deck, use a another card and ,maybe, the card(s) that are out the deck could be part of side deck
As long as you can tell what the card does, its fine, the worst is you face a rule shark, and if that happens, just call a judge, the shark will get a penalty or get the game loss if hes a repeat offender.
