@@BrothaBeige88 oh I’m speaking generally. Shang-Chi is a great movie, and it’s partially because it wasn’t made to pander to any group of people. It was just made to be a good movie rather than a vehicle for social politics

As much as im glad theres an asian superhero, im more happy he isnt just all about kungfu fighting. Him using the ten rings brings in more coolness than just being a good fighting hero.
I hope this isn't the last we've seen Shang-Chi. Also there is a Marvel character who is Filipina named Pearl Pangan a.k.a. Wave. Hoping to see her in the MCU.
I can't wait to take my boy to see this. This is going to be his first superhero movie. I hope it goes well for a 5 year old. I think I'm more excited than he will be. P.S. That little boy in the video made me tear up.

I am Filipino part Chinese and Spanish and I hope in the future, other than Raya and the Last Dragon, there will be a Southeast Asian Marvel superhero.

@@smosmo4617 he wanted to come back for season 6. He even tried to step up to the plate and write the stories but the original producers said no and the only script writers in the room were non asians who couldn't properly write the stories. Season 3 to 5 weren't even as good as season 1 and 2. He even wanted to flesh out the story line for his character. But it didn't happen. There are rumors there will be a spinoff with Shannon.
After watching this I was thinking to myself are there any Persian superheroes out there or not, so I did a little search and there was a few, and out of those few characters none of them really looked Persian. None of them were presented in a none offensive and truthful way. That's what media has done to us. I really hope companies like Marvel and DC start giving attention to left out cultures and countries like Iran which have a fulfilled history of great epic stories and characters but yet there is no trace of them in the mainstream media. As simu liu said all cultures need to be shown and seen in the big screen. I believe cause each and every one of them brings a new feeling to the world of the movies and a new story.
"Black" and "Asian" are categories created by the United States, where they do not even exist in the outside world. What about a Latino superhero in a leading role? A Lebanese superhero? And Indian superhero? A Uyghur superhero? And Inuit superhero? Where the hell does it end? Not until we have superheroes for every single ethnic group on the planet? What about a mixed superhero, who looks just like me? Do I get my representation too?
The fight for everyone to get representation is not going to happen overnight but I think we should be happy that marvel is willing to put out an Asian superhero film in times where Asian hate is a serious problem. I agree with what you are getting at but I believe the US moving on from their "black and white" diversity is a very good start.
It ends when the US stop putting people in boxes. Face it, they are the major cultural force on Earth. So this movie and Black Panther can be seen as reaction to that. Before, it was just white faces in super hero movies. That's all anybody saw. Suck it up cupcake.

Yeah... Black Panther movie was a breakthrough... NOT! Give me a break - it's a movie about African tribe - it didn't help black youngsters to deal with everyday struggle more than hip-hop artists did!
You thought a movie was gonna save the Black community 😒? Did you not see how important the representation was to the little Black kids who were fighting Cancer when they got visits from Chadwick Boseman himself? Did you see all the little boys dressed as Black Panther and the little girls dressed as the Dora Milaje?
The fact that Simu mentioned Wong as the first Asian superhero in the MCU just made my crush on him triple in size!
This is why diversity is the way forward. Every culture has wonderful stories to share.
Thank you, I agree, as long as everyone is represented then what's the problem...

He's right, technically Benedict Wong did play the first in a Western superhero movie. But like Simu says, again it was the sidekick, not the lead.
As a Canadian so proud of Simu Liu! :)
