Hola Mariana desde España! Me encantan tus vídeos y tu forma de expresarte. No soy anglófona pero se entiende perfectamente. Muchas gracias por compartir tus ideas y sabiduría sobre moda.❤
I think the biggest problem today is our mindset around clothing and life in general. Everything is used once or twice then tossed aside. I'm so glad that I did not have that type of upbringing and luxuries as it taught me how to take care of my clothes so that I can (have to) wear them for years. I am referring to buying from shops such as H&M and Zara. In South Africa we have Woolworths and Queenspark which also sell nice (bit better quality) clothing than let's say MrPrice or Pep Stores which are both inexpensive and associated with lesser quality items. With that being said, if you shop smartly and take care of your things, a MrPrice jacket or Pep dress can last for years... I understand the moral aspects behind why people chose not to buy from fast fashion stores however I feel they are based on a spectrum, some better than others. People also cannot assume that everyone has physical and financial access to buy from higher end stores.
I just adored this video SO MUCH! Because sometimes we are so “bombarded” with images that we can be guilty of overspending on something that is completely unnecessary. I bought the Celine belt that is all over and now I don’t love it 😢 At least I bought the thinner version and I am happy to wear it in summer over dresses and at least not wearing same way as everyone else. We feel the desire to have things and once we do, we feel it doesn’t make the world of a difference.
This was a great video! I agree with you on all these items! Plus if you spend a ton of money on the latest designer jewelry, sunglasses, etc., another style will come along and be the new “in” style!
I totally agree about the bags. I'm sorry, these designer bags look nice, but the extent to which you need to baby them makes them not worth it. I can't deal with a bag that I can't put on the floor, or overfill because it will stretch out the shape 😅. My bags are workhorses, ultimately, not something to take out of my wardrobe and admire from time to time.
You are such an interesting, loving and funny person with a wonderful voice and language! Yes, never, ever, ever buy anything that looks like a very expensive original. It looks so, so, so cheap! Thank you for all your wonderfull inspirations ... 🙏❤☘😇
For your newsletter, I’d love to know how you would dress if you worked in hospitality like I do. Blazers aren’t an option (too hot for running around in and out of kitchens), or heels…..but I’d still like to feel put together xx
I agree with everything you just said. If I might suggest a subject to tackle it would be trying to buy the best quality while cutting back on quantity intentionally. I don’t mean minimalism at all. But understanding the point where having more is pointless. In order for this to be meaningful. And workable it would have to be a video devoted to each category. I have way too much of everything (though none of it inexpensive or low quality). But I fondly remember the times when I felt better dressed with fewer items that I actually wore than these days. Even when all pieces are of high quality too much is not a good thing. It is confusing and messy. I don’t know if I am clear in saying what I mean but I think your sensible approach might be ideal to tackle the subject of the diminishing returns of having too much.
Hi Irene! I do understand your point… I’ve mentioned it before, but right now I have very limited closet space, and have to be intentional with what I choose to keep in it. Thank you for the great idea! 😉
Love your videos. You are such a lovely lady and will be a amazing mama. One comment about shirts. Due to scoliosis, I don't like to wear a button-down shirt because they twist when I walk, so even though it's a must have item, button-down shirts are not and will not be part of my wardrobe. I guess there are exceptions to every rule (lol).
Very good video, as usual. In the USA Midwest coats are an absolute essential. Trenchcoats, camel hair polo coats, Navy Peacoats and Navy toggle coats are very worthwhile. They never seem to wear out. Add a leather bomber jacket, a motorcycle jacket and a puffer jacket! Harrington jackets are useful in spring and summer. The collection grows year to year. Didn't I mention that they never wear out! Sweaters too; merino, lambswool, Shetland, cashmere! All good. We get all seasons here. Thank you for another great video.
You almost hurt me with the first two! Bags became a little obsession of mine. But I have a small collection, I use my bags frequently and for a long time so it feels right to me. Jewelry is a different story, I'm crazy about gold (allergic to almost everything) but the designer route is not for me. I do appreciate some Cartier pieces but I don't think it's worth it.
Great video, Mariana! Your advice about not spending on high end brands is excellent, and I also appreciate your tips on good quality brands that are affordable. Any ideas on looking current or « relevant « while staying classic and elegant are appreciated.
I absolutely agree. I would rather have a unique, well made item which makes people think, gee, I wonder where she got that, instead of paying thousands of dollars to be a walking billboard for an overpriced designer item.
Hi Mariana! That's great about your newsletter! You come up with the best topics so I don't really have anything to add though I love seeing videos with interesting color combinations in outfits! I will happily read it!!
The newsletter sounds good, but I’m really only interested in wardrobe items and styling them, not so much in hair, makeup, nails, lifestyle or vlogging. Thanks for considering my input.
I just subscribed to your newsletter - looking forward to receiving it. I'm especially interested in fashion content for the newsletter, but I'm open to reading other content too. I think another good tip for jewellery is to buy real gold plated jewellery as a more affordable option. This way you can avoid the 'fake gold' look that a lot of fashion jewellery can have. In saying that, not all gold fashion jewellery looks fake, but it's quite easy to spot when it does look fake. I would love to see a video regarding capsule wardrobes: how to create your capsule wardrobe and how you have curated yours. No pressure 😉🌼
You’re a natural and are the best at what you do. Thank you. You are inspiring and a great role model. I just subscribed to your TH-cam channel and to your newsletter. The very best to you and yours. 🙂 How did you get to this point?
Great info! I do think bespoke, made to fit can be detrimental if you gain weight, as most women do as we age. Also the right satin (polyester) button downs can be stunning & comfortable if you are waiting to afford the silk counterpart.
Hi Tennille! Yes, bespoke can be a bit limiting in that sense, but if you find a tailor that charges a fair price, it's basically the same amount as getting something new in retail. I guess that as long as it fits properly and looks good, where it comes from doesn't really matter 😊
I really believe in buying high-quality, but there’s no need to buy overpriced designer handbags, etc. I see lots of teenagers on YT, IG, Tik-Tok, etc. doing this, but they live with their parents and have no obligatory expenses, like mortgages, insurance, health care, etc. In reality, the vast majority of us can’t afford designers bags, but social media has been making it seem like these are “must-haves” for everyone. They’re not, don’t waste money on them just to impress your friends or viewers! I’m far more impressed when someone shows high-quality, classic items, like leather handbags, etc., at affordable prices.
Hi, there! It’s Bobbi Brown’s Crushed Lipstick in Angel (rstyle.me/+AbhWGZOkT8xAGea3WtyJmg) topped with Pat McGrath’s lip gloss in Sunset Rose (rstyle.me/+tDCFobc-TAbTRXsLIl1Ntw)
Just a moment of appreciation for this stylish, elegant, and wise woman! Great video!
You’re too sweet 😌
Totally! 💞🙌🏽🙌🏽

Most designer bags have very big logos, either carved into the leather or printed or sticked, that big logo thing alone is a huge no no for me
I so agree with you Milla! Sometimes a bag is perfectly beautiful, but gets absolutely ruined by the addition of a gaudy logo.
