  • How to restrain brick and masonry facades or reconnect wall junctions with Twistfix helical strap ties.
DRILL a slender pilot hole in a wall to a depth 15 to 20mm longer than the tie, using progressively longer drill bits to prevent breakage. For soft or medium-strength masonry, use an 8-millimetre-diameter drill bit; where the hardness of the wall is more challenging, use a 10-millimetre bit.
DRIVE the stainless steel strap-tie into the wall, using the impact-action of the setting tool in an SDS hammer drill, recessing it beneath the brick or stone surface.
PATCH the hole with matching material to disguise the heavy-duty helical tie installation.
That's it; a simple 3-step process for deep masonry pinning or wall junction connection.
The unique setting-tool, does not turn the tie; it merely holds and hammers it throughout the installation and countersinking operation. The impacts of the hammer-drill force the large helix to screw into the pilot hole, its twin threads cutting into the brick, block, or masonry as it advances into the wall.
A series of these high-tensile, 12-millimetre helical ties lock together each part of the wall or corner junction, increase masonry's strength and evenly distribute loads over the reinforced area.
As the installation requires no chemical adhesives, these Twistfix strapping ties are beneficial for use at sub-zero temperatures and where material compatibility is an issue. Perfect for tying walls of historic structures or newer buildings. www.twistfix.c...

Tying an outer wall to intercepting walls can form part of a system the restrains bulging walls
