  • Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea at Tokyo DisneySea is incredible. Located within the park's iconic ‘Mysterious Island’, and despite sharing a name with other Disney rides around the world, this version is so much more than what came before it…

Definitely don’t skip this ride. Especially when this is usually a 10 min wait compared to the 200 min wait for everything else. Immerse yourself and make it fun!

I don’t see many videos capturing this, but if you ride it by the side window instead of the front, you see the shadows of merpeople pushing your submarine up projected on the wall. Combined with the movement of the vehicle simulating the sudden push from behind, it’s totally amazing!

I visited DisneySea a couple of weeks ago and this was one of my favorite rides. From the moment it “submerges” in the water to the bubbles in the windows and the incredible details and effects it’s definitely one of the best rides Disney has ever made.

I never understood why this ride is so underrated. It was a walk-on on the rather busy summer day we spent at Disneysea. A shame that other people were skipping it but it was good for us haha. I rode it three times, once for each window, which i recommend so you don't miss anything.

I am a huge fan of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, both the film and the Jules Verne novel. I loved the ride when I visited Disney World in Orlando as an 8-year old in 1973, and twice more on later trips to Florida. I visited again just a few years ago and was dismayed to find that the ride was gone. Sad. I also got to experience the non-20,000 Leagues-themed submarine ride at California's Disney Land in the late 1970s when I visited my uncle and his family with my grandfather.

It's a cute ride that never has a line. My ONE complaint is that it is not designed for tall people 😅 I am 6'3" and I swear the little window is at crotch level once I sit.
Also if you are claustrophobic, you might hate the little pods.

Looks incredible! Also gets points for being easy to maintain, so that it's easier to keep nice, and being easy to evacuate in case of emergency. You have to wonder what the plan is if something happens in the Finding Nemo lagoon...

So this is a pointless factoid but I know you expect that from the TH-cam comments section, but 20,000 leagues is a reference to the horizontal distance travelled not the depth dived to. The deepest part of the ocean is only just over 3 leagues deep.
I still can’t wait to experience this attraction some day, even if it isn’t very deep or very long. Great video!

Great vid. Worth mentioning Richard Nixon was not the president at the time of the opening of the Disneyland subs. Also, 20,000 Leagues at WDW did make a few more connections to the film--you would hear Captain Nemo's organ music, and there's a giant squid encounter I believe, whereas at DL you have to escape undersea volcanoes

This one is definitely my fav ride ride it few times and check side and front view, they all offer different views and experience, the ride usually have no waiting time (or less than few mins). I remember I took the left and front one (never the right one) and the left one contains small jump scare that front view can't see (and you need to have your search light finding it. It is an eel in a jar that moves towards you, scared the heck out of me)

Trivia note: "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" refers to traveling 20,000 leagues while submersed (so "under the sea" meaning "not on the surface") , not traveling 20,000 leagues below sea level.

Tokyo DisneySea is by far my favourite Disney Park with truly unique rides and The Twenty Thousand Leagues ride was a highlight of my visit, that and the Voyages of Sinbad. The ride is really clever and despite being seated on the right hand side porthole of the submarine I didn't feel cheated. Not great if you are claustophobic, it's quite snug in there but it's a 'must do' attraction. If you are limited for time and have visited Magic Kingdom or Disneyland Anaheim I'd prioritise Disney Sea as there is nowhere quite like is whereas with Tokyo Disneyland while great, it felt very 'familiar' though different if that makes sense.

    • @thesargonas
      @thesargonas ปีที่แล้ว

Disney Sea is hands down the best Disney park world wide, even within the halls of corporate Disney Parks they admit it's the pinnacle experience. The funny thing is, Disney doesn't own/control it. Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea are wholly owned and operated by an independent, Japanese company. Disney owns no stake in it and has no control of it, they simply license the rights to do things from Disney, so long as they meet certain baseline standards, however amusingly, their own internal standards for all things are far beyond anything Disney requires of them. They are the only Disney park in the world with this arrangement.

Anyways, I've been living in Japan and making my yearly visit to Disney Sea for over 20 years. Yes, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a fun ride. Oh BTW skip the gyoza dog.

20,000 Leagues under the sea does not refer to depth. It refers to the distance that the principal characters Professor Aronnax, Conseil, Ned Land, Captain Nemo and his crew travelled in the Nautilus through the various seas of the world while submerged, which is about 72,000 nautical miles or twice the circumference of the Earth. The diameter of the earth is 7926 miles. So, even if you convert miles to nautical miles (1 nautical mile = 1.1508 land miles), there is no way you could travel 20,000 nautical miles in depth.

if there was one thing I could criticize on this ride is that they space the cars too close to each other so you can see the back end of the car in front of you, and with the propeller that is static it breaks immersion a bit. Now if they had that propeller moving in some way then I think it would be a whole different game. That said, this is what the submarines at Disneyland need to change into, that huge lagoon while a nice view is really prime real estate for any new ride (that an Autopia)

    • @idk-zt8rx
