This quote is just so much more insane after we find out that Eren is actually questioning his future self. (he saw himself doing the rumbling and destroying the world after kissing historia's hand in season 3)
He was crying because he was the only one that knew what was coming. Not only that but he knew in the future, he'd be responsible for killing 80% of the world's population to save Eldians
you're right. I never thought of it this way. But he was crying because he knew what he will do and he knows it is not the ending he wanted, it's not the freedom he envisioned.

And now we know he went absolutely insane after kissing her hand. The knowledge of there being no other way but to submit to the Founding Titan's power and share it with Ymir to cause so much devastation was so much of a burden for him that the only way he kept any semblance of sanity was to keep pushing forward despite the consequences. He knew if he did, the Titans would somehow disappear from the world. As he said, he was "a garden variety idiot who got his hands on power." Power he was not equipped to handle in the first place or even wanted, and it drove him mad against his will.

Fun fact, the VA of eren had a massive throat ache that he couldn’t voice act for a week or so after recording that scream
Take a long hard look at him in the thumbnail or anime in general. Long messy hair, the marks under his eyes, and the a constant expression of anger and hopelessness. Compare that to the previous seasons where he smiled, kept a nice cut, and treated his comrades like friends instead of subjects he needs to protect. Even if being an asshole was just a ploy, Eren is broken beyond repair. I feel so bad for him. No matter what he could have done, there was no "right" path he could follow. No obvious answer to solve all his problems and leave him with a guilt free conscience altogether. All he could hope to do was make a choice. Rest in peace to what might be one of the most well developed characters in fiction.

@@Destroyer120296 he doesn’t, he deserves hell for what he did, but one thing is for sure: his entire life was miserable and unfair, and even if the rumbling was the wrong choice, that didn’t change the fact that there was no future where people didn’t die that were close to him. He was not a good person in the end, but he never really had a chance.

Reiner tried his best to convince and stop Eren but damn Eren's willpower is insane and the moment he screamed and fought back I got chills. Seriously Eren and Reiner are one of the best rivalry ever in anime. Also, this soundtrack is a masterpiece it captures so many feelings...sorrow, anger, hope, resoluteness and so many more.
Amen to that. I need to re-watch the entire last season. I think I didn't appreciate it at is right value and hearing the whole ost help me to understand better the emotions translated into each scenes. See ya amigo!
It's really crazy just how much more interesting both Eren and Reiner got with the final arc. I initially just thought both of them were meh, but after the final arc they just rose to the top of my favourite characters list. Both are just doing what they deem the best thing for those they care about, and both understand where they are each coming from, yet due to the nature of humanity, both find themself on opposite sides, never able to walk the same path. It's really a tragic rivalry.

This soundtrack pushed me forward in one of the toughest phases of my life. I had only 3 weeks for my bachelors thesis and listening to this soundtrack made me persevere and be the first in the library and the last to leave. I almost got a perfect score. Thanks to Isayama and whoever composed this. A masterpiece.

this ost seems to me like a commulation of all the AoT seasons emotions and hopes... dunno how to describe it but it has a definitive feeling to it. Like it has an upper layer of thought.
In some ways I can relate with Eren, I’m in the US Army barracks hardly able to have my phone as I post this. I sometimes have this hopelessness because my life is going nowhere but just being a government statistic. I’ve lost friends and that made me rage at my brothers in my platoon who didn’t even deserve it. I got cheated on while I was out here working my ass off and waking up at early times and I couldn’t take it anymore so I just gave up. I feel tired with no way to go forward and just be a soldier. I understand Erens pain, I was always confined within the walls of private school never able to fully understand the real world. Now that I’m finally outside those “walls” in my life I face a new challenge. Face the world, have people look down on me, suffer, and just fight until it kills you.
Never once have I understood the word “Tatakae…” so well.

I listen to this almost everyday. It gives me all the same emotions (and chills) that the comments are talking about in my own life. My sadness, my happiness, my pain, my jaded side, the loss, the gain, the strength I've found within myself to conquered my own struggles. It helps me invision the greater future I want for myself. But it also makes me feel the side that wants to entirely give up. (I wont, but the emotions through this song are something else) I cant live without attack on titan music. I disagree with everyone who dislikes ashes on the fire being “overplayed”. It’s the theme for this season. AOT season 4 having a theme that rivals Hollywood franchises is amazing. The version that plays here or in erens house during the paths scene make it almost ironic or bittersweet. Showcasing beautiful emotional moments with ominous undertones

SPOILER ALERT: Read at your own risk ⚠️
Most people like to downplay the ending and say that Isayama butchered Eren’s character in 139 but I disagree. Now while I do believe the ending was rushed and his breakdown in regards to his feelings towards Mikasa was a bit much I don’t think it butchered his character at all especially in regards to to how the Rumbling ended. Truthfully I feel like he fulfilled his goal already and here’s why I say that: it’s been established that although he saw the future when he touched Historia he only saw flashes and bits and pieces not really everything the main thing he saw was that 80% of humanity was extinguished and that Mikasa’s decision would free Ymir and extinguish the Power of the Titans from the world. However I don’t think he saw that far beyond the 80% fr fr that’s why he told Armin “if you hadn’t stopped me I would have continued the Rumbling in its entirety” or something along those lines. Eren’s whole thing has been his unwavering desire to keep moving forward so in my opinion he knew he would wipe out 80% for sure but it was still up for grabs whether he could finish the job or not was anyones guess so he continued until he could see what the final verdict was. I believe he gave it his all but in the end he was happy with what he achieved in giving Paradis (his friends in particular) the time they needed to negotiate peace for at least a century and give his friends the time they needed to live out their lives but regardless of how it played out the primary constant would always be Mikasa’s decision. So to anyone who believes Eren just gave up at the end please rethink it I just think he took the hand destiny dealt him but I don’t think 139 butchered his character by any means
I agree with you, I think the execution of the ending might be better in the anime than the manga once they fix the pacing and dialouges. I highly reccommend sage's rain's video essay on why Eren hasn't changed! It clears up a lot about Eren and why his character was never retconned towards the end.

I find the name of the song to be...odd. Like, there's never a point during any of the scenes this plays in, or any related to it, or any that WILL relate to it, that occur at night or even when it's dark.
there is an episode with the same title, but this ost doesn’t sound in that episode, which makes me think that the director maybe decided to use it better in other moments and not in that one (because the one called "2000 year..." sounds in the episode of the same name, or the one called "traitor" too)

fuck isayama for saving the "important marleyans" honestly so agianst the grain for AoT. You're telling me I had to watch countless characters I love get massacred but the villains of the entire show win and get to live happily ever after FUCK OFF. You're telling me in an this tragedy anime where so many people we actually cared about, die...and isayama wont even kill off all the marleyans for Reiner and Annie progression. Marley shouldve been leveled and everyone along with it isayama your ending was crap. The LEAST you could've done was give us a perfect fence sitter ending but you didnt.
