Manning was a real gent off stage and a great comedian on it. I was fortunate to meet him on both fronts so can testify to the type of bloke that he was. One of the best and made me proud to be a Mancunian. He got me pissed once when I was working and it cost me nowt..cheers Bernard..see you in the future..

Recall Manning's appearances on Parkinson when host and audience were pissing themselves irrespective the non-PC jokes. I defy anyone to have sat at a live Manning performance and not laughed like a fuckin' drain - a superb and sadly castigated talent.
