I absolutely despise people that blame the death of their spouse on the birth of a child. If you truly loved your spouse, you would love and cherish the child they sacrificed their live for and showing that the spouse’s death was not in vain. Absolutely screw OP’s sp3rm donor

I mean, who got the mother pregnant in the first place.....? The logic doesn't work.

It always pisses me off when someone tells a lie and blames the fallout on person who didn’t know it was lie and unintentionally told the truth. That person isn’t a freaking mind reader and it’s your fault for lying in the first place

So, when he asks for help, tell him nope. You are too good for my home.

Good for you. Therapy is a good step.

After you leave the house, WHY even keep in contact? Leave him behind.

I think the only silver lining of the story is the fact that Dede wasn’t actually an evil stepmother and that she genuinely apologized to OP upon finding out not only was her husband and outright liar, but also an abusive father. Here’s hoping that Dede divorced OP’s sp3rm donor

100% no contact for ever. No salvaging that situation. Dad was a lost cause from minute one, and it wouldn't surprise me if he was a terrible husband to his mother. The reveal that he's a gambling addict, clears up a lot. Addicts blame everything and everyone for anything wrong in their life.

They certainly do. I’ve watched this play out with MiL. She has never taken responsibility for anything she’s done ever. It’s always someone else’s fault.

Oh yeah it’s always about what’s was done to them or what they thought was done to them. Never anything about what they’ve done.

Sadly I have a grandmother like that who is a gambling addict and always blame something wrong in her life on her least favorite children (my mother and her younger brother) and then she turned it on me and my sisters (2 of them) when we lived with her cuz her house was closer and my mom needed help being a single mom and all.
Well, I moved out, got married, suffered depression and other such things, got help, and Very LC with her.

Why did you ask him to move in when you knew he hates you.

OP clearly hadn't had enough therapy.

If he was going to live in your HOUSE, then I would make sure he knew he was JUST A GUEST and he has to follow my rules. No going out. Save money to move out?!! Give him the same treatment. Wife too. Then make sure she knows this is how my first 18 years of my life.

And remind him EVERY day how the dead of his wife and your terrible childhood was a result of him not being able to control his sexdrive!
Tell him 50x a day ,,wake him up in the middel of the night to remind him!
And only talk to him while shouting!

Sounds like the father has been a liar all his life, an abusive, bitter and selfish individual. It's sad that he could not love his only child (but I don't think he ever loved his wife either) and completely behaving like a victim. Someone passing away is hard for those that remain, but it is also a time to remember what they gave us and cherish this. OP is best to close that painful chapter of his life with his father and look at his birthday as a celebration of his life and his mother's and his future.

I think the dad and his wife were probably plotting to get OP to lie about the dad paying for OPs home, so they could record it, and try to take his home out from underneath him. With the dad's gambling debts he probably could prove he had large sums of money leaving his account. The dad could easily sue him and lie about it, with a recorded confession.

Op only needs to ask one question.
What would his dead wife think about him to know how he treated her child?

So where are the rest of the family, friends, and relatives in the story, like grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. Doesn't the author know that these people do exist. There is absolutely no mention of a single character apart from these 4 people. Another creative writing content, with very poorly thought foundation of characters in the story.
