What's in my Tool Trailer for 2019 Building Season

  • I always get questions about tools....what brand is the best, what drill is the best, and a million other questions. I figured a video about what's in my tool trailer for the 2019 building season was a good way to address it. However I didn't want to make it about the brands themselves. My Goal is to help people make informed decisions. I am extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to try so many different brands and models without any real requirement to use them. Even when a free circular saw is sent to me, I don't have to use it, but I am able to, and from there decide if it's worth keeping in the trailer.
In the END, my post frame business is where my priorities lie, and being the best, most efficient builder is always my goal. So hopefully you continue to watch Toolsday as I am sure in 2019 there will be some awesome additions to the Tool Trailer.
If curious, or looking, I will link my current favorite tools for starting a business in 2019 below. Please leave me a comment if this helped you and share with a friend that might enjoy the video.

It is very refreshing to see someone actually, " PAY IT FORWARD". I AM NOT A CONTRACTOR AND ONLY A HOBBY CARPENTER. But I am an amateur musician. I play the Native American flute, and fully 1/4 of, my flutes were gifted to me by someone who thought I needed a new flute. One such flute was gifted to me when I was about halfway through treatment for stage 4a throat cancer in 2015. I am happy to say that at this time I am nearly 4 years clear of cancer. have been playing flutes now for nearly 19 years, and now I am starting to, pay it forward by gifting flutes to those special people that I feel will benefit from them.

It appears that you have multiples of essential tools for your trade. You could either; add a backup trailer as insurance against disaster, add another crew, or expand your brand to another location. Lot's of possibilities since RR-Buildings has such a worldwide following and a deserved reputation of quality service.

Your story of all your tools in your car reminds me of my brother. Hard working guy and just working hard to make a go of it. I don't always have the means but when I get a new tool I always pass my old one off to him. I think it is cool that you not only give back to the community with the valuable knowledge you share but also are looking to give material goods as well. This video (like most the others I have watched of yours) is great. Thanks for the work you put into your content.

Kyle I love your content, I’ve watched all of your build series, they are awesome. I appreciate the knowledge soo much. I’m 26, I’m in my 3rd year as a general contractor in the trades, we started out doing kitchens and baths for the first year, but have found our way and our nitch doing sweet custom deck builds. Sound Services & Construction LLC out of Bothell, WA, a suburb north of Seattle. Just wanted to let you know I’m watching, and your helping me grow. Started out with a 4Runner, packing tools into the trunk, now I’ve got a old beater ford van and a 6x12 single axel tool trailer that I tug around and drop at my job sites. I had to say something after you mentioned your VW, the struggle is real and hard work pays off. Your builds are freaking cool man!

Wow . That's enough tools for a company of army engineers . Pick what you think you need but also have spares on hand if something breaks . Don't want to be out on a job if a tool breaks down and you have no back-up . This is what happens when you have a history of being a great builder . You get tons of free tools for your youtube channel .Well done .

Tithing is paramount Kyle. I am like you. I bought tools, lots of which may sit on a shelf for a year before I may need it. I also never bought junk. I would always wait until I could buy the better ones instead of cheaper. Albeit I notice you don't have a generator. I purchased a Honda 2200w. It has been a time saver for all corded tools that just last way longer than their battery powered counter parts. It has payed for itself because of the batteries I haven't had to purchase. Batteries are the largest cost of cordless tools.

Would be interested to see how you organize all those tools in your trailer. I'd say make the video

I hope that trailer has a good security system! You have a lot of money invested in your tools

I was thinking the same , but it wouldn’t really be wise for him to actually talk too much about it.

Yes, a trailer organization video would be great! Also, can you briefly explain how you handle the tool trailer system? To explain, how do you make sure the tool trailer is ready to be at the worksite everyday? Batteries, speciality tools, dang that broke yesterday replacements, hey we're doing 'blank' tomorrow, I'll need the load 'blank' for it.
