Glad Joey is OK. What's interesting is even with all the warnings he said once the tornado siren went on (and then out) he knew something wasn't going to be right. Some people will respond to their own personal experience before they take action, some people will sit by the TV and listen to the weather person, some will watch radar and some will respond to the siren. No doubt that it's a collective effort from all our warning systems and not ONE that will save lives. Thanks for posting.
I wasn't impacted by April 27, 2011; and I was not born yet in 1974; but I still want my home to come with a tornado shelter. When it comes to violent tornadoes, plumbing has no guarantees.

Keep insurance folders and all important documents in pockets near the front door.
For tornado warnings in your area, place pets in portable cages. Lock ornamental birds in smaller cages and cats in a transport box, put a collar on dogs and fasten the leash to it.
Clarify in advance with the family who will be carrying what to the tornado shelter when the storm siren sounds the alarm.
