Sometime you read the words without understanding the meanings. Martha frustrated Jesus sometimes for her nature and sometimes her priority. Mary was the one who did the correct things when she approached Jesus. However, Martha was the greatest believer of the two sisters. It comes down to belief, and Martha had it and Mary did not. When Jesus returned four days after Lazarus died it was Martha who went to him and called him who he was "The son of God". She also said that even though her brother Lazarus died, Jesus may yet save him. Mary was what I call a believer who accepts without understanding. She had to be told to go to Jesus, and she was so upset that Jesus did not come when he was called. Mary said you could have saved him but you did not come. Her belief in who Jesus was was lacking to say the least. Were they both good Christains? The answer is yes. However, only one understood the power of the son of God. The next time you teach this part of the bible, please help your people to understand that Martha was the first person to truly understand that Jesus was who he was.
... but God trusted this lady to stand and preach and i believe God don't make mistakes. He must had good good reason that she is standing there someone else. I have no doubt that God wouldn't do different if He wanted to... But thank you i leared from both🙏
Please remain in the context of the story. When we begin with our opinions we take the story out of context and begin examining people’s hearts without being there or having those details. Let’s stay with what Jesus is saying. When we abide and remain in him we will go on serving with the fruits of spirit instead of fretting, complaining and grudging serving. Jesus is saying serve with my strength and my love. Otherwise our service will be on the flesh and we may hurt other peoples feelings and not really show God’s peace, love and wisdom.
14 And it came to pass that Martha chose Jesus to be her husband according to that which she had been taught by him. 15 Now, this thing was hard for Martha to do because of the traditions and the customs of the Jews, which were taught unto her all the days of her life. But she had also been converted by the Lord and given the Holy Ghost that convinced her that Jesus was the Savior of the world, and the Son of the Eternal Father who had been sent to save the world from its sins by teaching the people the will of the Father. 16 And because she had received this witness of him, she knew that she could not have a child by him, according to his words. And Martha reasoned in herself for some time. And she knew that the opportunity to be at the side of Jesus for as long as he was among the people in the flesh would be a blessing enough for her. And she wanted that Jesus be her husband, and went unto him and requested of him this thing. 17 And because of the Jews and their customs and traditions, Jesus suffered that Martha marry him according to this manner. And it was this wedding of which is briefly spoken of in the record of the Bible which ye already have before you. 18 For it was customary that the family of the groom provide the wine and the food for those who were in attendance at the wedding. And Mary, the mother of Jesus, did not think that Jesus would submit himself to the traditions and customs of the Jews, therefore, she did not prepare the wedding on her part according to these customs. 19 And when the hour of the wedding arrived, Jesus was made aware that there had been no wine brought by his mother according to the tradition. And he smiled upon his mother and said unto her: Behold, for my wife I do these things and have submitted to these things for her enjoyment and the enjoyment of those of her family. 20 And where are those of my own family? Did they not think that I would do this thing because of that which I have been given to do by my Father? Behold, my hour is not yet for that which I must do for my Father. Therefore, what wilt thou have me to do for thee? That will I do; for mine hour is not yet come.
@@Happy78704gal , this little fairy tale is not in the Bible. It is one of those fairy tale lies from one of those fantasy writings by those lying superstitious gnostics of the second century. The early church fathers and scholars of the second century said that these "hidden gospels" were nothing more than lies and fairy tales. The people who believe these fairy tales are people with lazy, little, ignorant minds who have no idea of how we actually got the scriptures today we call the Bible. And yes, that means that I am calling Erwin Aquaman or whatever the hell he is called, a small minded, pithy, low iq individual who chooses to believe in lies instead of believing the truth.

If Martha didn’t cook who else would have done it perhaps the household would have complained if their was no food cooked
Thank you so much for this study. This has blessed me.

I think that because they were also "friends", Martha just was going about being a good hostess, while Mary was more in awe.

It is Martha in John 10 who runs to Jesus not Mary. This demonstrated Martha's transformation and renewed devotion and faith to Jesus.
