    Fantastic review. This is so much better than people who review gear that still have the manufacturer's tags attached. You pointing out the hydration bladder takes up a significant amount of the interior space is going to drive me away from this model and probably toward the Osprey Talon range, where the hydration sleeve is between the Airscape back panel and the pack itself. Thank you for your effort.

      Thanks for the kind words and glad the review was useful. Hope you enjoy the Talon range, I've no doubt the bag will be top quality and will last you years.

    Great video Kev.
    I've been using the Stratos for a couple of years now and really like it. I sometimes use a smaller water blader with it and it is fine for summer walks. As a cheaper alternative my wife bought a Mountain Warehouse 20lt bag with the same type of airflow back system. It is lighter and cost around £35. I would say it is similar in comfort and for day walks it works fine.
    Very happy with both bags.

      Cheers Doug. Funnily enough I've been using a fair bit of Mountain Warehouse gear lately, really impressed with it so far. Just started testing a pair of walking shoes for the summer to see how well they last.

    I've also been using this as my bag for day hikes for a few years. Love it! I also have the Atmos AG 65 for multi-day thru hikes.

      They do make very robust bags. This one feels like it'll last forever.

    I got the same pack, but older. My hip belt pocket is on one side. I can’t reach it when fastened. But there’s also a small pocket on one of the shoulder straps

    Good review Kev.. they are deffo more comfortable than many other bags I find. Was curious how you manage the camera gear with the bag?

    • @TheWalkingKev
      @TheWalkingKev  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I put my full frame in with lens attached into a padded camera bag - one shaped for the body and I carry other camera on shoulder bag to use as I walk. I then pack any additional lenses into padded lens bags if I need them.

    What is your length and how does this bag fit a longer person. I currently use a Talon 22 and I misjudged the lack of a frame, it is fatiguing because it doesn’t give any support on the hipbelt, only stabilises the bag. I am searching for a framed pack but the Talon was available in length sizes and I have the longer L, I wonder if this pack is usable for longer person because it has an adjustable harnas.
    I am 1.88cm and a back length of around 55cm, most packs have a (fixed) length of around 48cm.
    You did not mentioned the adjustability in your video, so I thought I ask. Thanks.

      I'm 5ft 11 and this bag is a s/m and seems to fit ok. TBH at the time I just needed a bag that day and it was the only one they had so I bought it without considering the size. I'd say, based on how many long walks I've taken it on, that it fits we OK.

    Awesome video! Can you help me with something? I'm debating between Stratos 24 and Talon 22 or even Tallon 26. Any suggestion please? Something in this range of capacity...

    • @TheWalkingKev
      @TheWalkingKev  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I haven't used any of those bags so I can't really help. If you can get to an outdoor shop and try a few that's all I can recommend really. The main difference in bags is how much structure they have and the weight - the two are linked. I've been using a Montane Trailblazer LT 28 recently. No structure at all, but very light. Back gets hot though.

      I don’t know about the top load 36 and 26 stratos, but if they share the same size frame, then this might be of use…. Because the 34 and 24 panel load stratos have the exact same size frame, but the 24 is very narrow(?) or tight(?) to get things in and out of and I think it then makes what space there is to use, feel like much less than it probably is. The 34 is much more practical and it makes zero difference to how it feels and carries whether it is has very little in it or fully loaded, and I’ve since found no advantage at all in having the 24, when the 34 does it all and then some.
      Oh and the newer models adjustment range should fit you no problems.

    So you say putting a 2 or 3 liters bladder reduces 26 litters to nothing? Really?

    • @TheWalkingKev
      @TheWalkingKev  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not to nothing, but it dramatically reduces the usability of the bag as it bulges out and makes it difficult to get things in. The bag doesn't have much depth to it. I've hiked with someone who has the Stratos 24 and he found the same.
