Yup, I have seen a similar situation like this in I feel for her and the parents. It's a lot of sick evil twisted guys out here that would really try to be something that their not only for their own desire, they will lie on you, and make others to believe false accusations , they will drain the hell out of you for some type of control . That's why you would see a lot of people going through this same exact thing and will act like nothing is going on when something deep like this is affecting their mental and they may end up harming themself because a lot of people judge so it's like they have to suffer in silence and your thoughts may eat you up .These types of guy are narcissist and they do come to KILL, STEAL AND DESTROY. Please stay prayed up no matter what.

I'm so sorry for his loss.
His daughter's story parallels mine, down to the Herpes infection, seizing passport, forcing me sign checks. The only difference was that I told my parents and they kept forcing me to stay because divorce would bring shame to the family. When I tried to take my life, my doctor who had treated me for previous beatings talked to me long and hard.
Eventually, I planned for a year and took my kids and ran away. I've been so isolated but thankful that I was able to get the courage from God to run away.

This woman was so very beautiful, and I empathize with the pain of falling madly in love with a demon. Narcissism should be taught in elementary schools because there are just some evil people in this world. Evil is real and exists and MANY people have given themselves over to the evil. Narcissists only goal is to USE and DESTROY beautiful souls. My cousin killed himself over a narcissist last year and I am a survivor of narcissist abuse.

I couldn’t agree more. Narcissism is real y’all . Narcissist = Devil in human form no better way to explain this. They exist and the red flags are very clear. I’ve been through narcissistic abuse as well I was only 17 at the time knew nothing about narcissism. Are you beautiful, successful, cool, classy, chic, intelligent, name it, something or someone anyone would want to have around them like as a friend or partner, hot cake or on demand type of thing, bright future and all, something like that?
Are they very charming and cute and promise and patronise you in a way that’s difficult to resist even though it’s uncalled for and so early they barely know you for instance and you barely know them as well but they blind you, they literally trying to buy you with all these promises overtly or covertly. Now it’s nice to be cute and charming. I mean you want someone you call a friend to be cute and charming and nice to you right but the key word is balance watch out for the balance in their actions is it over the top over complementing even though nothing has prompted it.
Do they treat you with no single regard for your time, values, emotions, feelings, boundaries, name it, you as a person like somehow they just expect you to have none like you’re supposed to be an object or sth.
Lastly, and most importantly, your instinct or your loved ones or both like this girls dad for instance never liked him or your instincts will just tell you something doesn’t feel right about them you can’t quite place your hands on it, it just doesn’t feel right my God what does your instincts say about you notice you never liked them like you just have your hair strands stand up straight around them you don’t feel chill and relaxed around them something feels off and strange about them.
That’s it that’s them run and never look back. Discard them before they discard you and I mean it DISCARD them because they are worthless pieces of shit that’s exactly what they are. Because that’s when abuse hooks your brain and you start becoming mentally messed up. Just nicely walk away mentally yes everything happens mentally they attack your subconscious so you discard them there right in your subconscious and physically too remove yourself completely if you can. in fact you can. You definitely can disconnect from them completely. Anything that has to do with them, make sure you’re not part of them. Severe the relationship with them asap and permanently because it doesn’t get better so find yourself peace of mind and don’t bother dealing with them.

Your reply is truly powerful… all the things you said are so true
Especially about the fact that children should be thought of narcissists and to be aware to not trust people very fast because evil does exist…
That is the reason Jesus’s word says… abide in Him and He will abide in you… put all your plans including the people who surround you at His feet.., trust all aspects of your life unto God..and He will direct your path
That is why Jesus said I came not to bring peace but the sword… because we are in warfare in this life… evil exists
      In Ephesians it says
Put on the full armour of God, so that in the evil
Day you will be able to stand

Im a survivor of narcissistic abuse and they pushed me to suicide many times cause I have a plethora of mental illnesses and 2 inoperable brain tumors, so I basically spend my life in the hospital and at medical appointments, I thought I was the luckiest to find my ex and her accept my illness, oh boy was I wrong, she made me absolutely miserable. I got close to her bestie of 15yrs and even she encouraged me to leave her cause she recognized I deserved better, she even said that my ex will never find someone like me again..her bestie gave me the courage to leave..she also treated her bestie like shyt, she survived 15yrs of her abuse, I barely made it through 2yrs, I dumped her and she's been trying to contact me but iv been ignoring her and cause of it she refuses to give me back my things in hopes I will contact her for them...she's gunna be waiting a mighty long time for that to happen, she even told her bestie that she's willing to change and I highly doubt that, the only thing I'm happy about is the fact I met her bestie and she's become like a sibling to me and I'm happy she's found the one and they're engaged to be married.

Narcissistic people can be your very own family too. I went through this for about 2 years straight with my only sibling who is 17 years older than me. Her demands on me once I started working put me in a confused and depressed state but by the grace of God and speaking out I’m alive today and is making progress in healing from that relationship. It’s the mental torture that is most damaging, you feel like you can’t escape it and I believe that’s what drove this beautiful young lady to that point. My heart goes out to her loved ones. I still kinda miss him but I am still angry and hurt that he would hide stuff like that from me. I also remind myself that he is a narcissistic sociopath (not slander this is literally what he said himself) so he probably won’t miss me, so missing him is pointless. I don’t know that for sure but I tell myself that to cope. His inability to understand just how much it hurt me kind of annoyed me. But it was more so that he understood why I was upset but didn’t care as he decided that it wasn’t relevant and just wanted to move on without addressing it.

I mean narcissistic abuse is possibly the worst thing you can experience and live through and truly, it is only God and knowing God ( why her father can explain it to clearly) that will save you from it.

There are lots of videos on TH-cam about Narc abuse, sociopaths and psychopaths. I’m not judging or blaming this young lady but sometimes people let vanity and ambition cloud their good judgement. For those of us who are familiar with the disorder can take one look at that guy, his cars and the way he stares down the camera and say he’s a walking RED FLAG. Also the friend group looks vain. Women like this have only care about the image of things “like look at all my pretty friends” for social media aesthetics but there’s no quality to those relationships.

As a Nigerian man, and a father... I hope that I never have to endure what he's enduring. But some part of me has a different take in this as well. I feel as if... and this is me understanding my culture... I feel as if his daughter didn't have the type of relationship with her parents that could have saved her life. I could be completely off-base here but it stands to reason that as parents, we need to always aspire to have an open and understanding relationship with our babies. I've seen several cases where the pressure to succeed or meet the expectations of our parents drive an unknown wedge between parent and child. It happens, the world over. Particularly in traditionalist/conservative cultures where meritocracy plays a large role in social constructs.
It's natural to want our children to aspire to be the best we believe they can be but along the way... we need to prioritize an emotionally healthy and open relationship with them. It's a balance that we as parents have to endure. It's our duty and obligation for us to be someone our children can turn to when they feel like the world is closing in around them. The pressure of the modern world have made this so much more of an imperative than it ever was. A parent should never have to bury their child and I hope the Alanis' parents someday find peace. It's a terrible situation.

    • @mirandaal4541

Your comment is very insightful. Let me add the following: You can deduce from what the dad says and from what you see that he and the white mother were no longer together - for how long already is unclear.
At best, a broken home isn’t an ideal environment for the development of children; at worst it can be the foundation of tragic events in the children’s futures.
Given that the man wasn’t necessarily responsible - at any rate not solely responsible - for the breakup of the marriage or relationship, it’s not as if it’s his fault that his daughter’s relationship with him wasn’t in the end as close as it needed to be.
Having said that, we can only theorize and speculate without being sure that any of the things we say are true. The priority at this time, really, is to give comfort to the bereaved father. If any lessons need to be learned, he and his family will have learnt these without any of us needing to rub it in.

The way Mr Dapo the father kept mentioning 'the mother' over and over it's quite obvious he and his daughter's mother were estranged or had not been together for a while so he was basically just supporting his daughter financially, but it looks like she didn't grow up under his care.
      I don't know if he and mother were ever married and got divorced later on but I have to make an opinion and observation {which I might catch some flak for it but it's necessary to say and is pretty much common knowledge but not talked about...}
Most marriages between Africans(Nigerian in this case) and westerners (British in this case I assume) don't stand the test of time, esp if the couple lives in the west.
It's different if the westerner wife relocates with her husband to his hone country and decides to make a life in the new country, where the laws and traditions guiding marriage are more concrete and she would have made her mind up to try to acclimate to the new structure...
Not so in the west, eventually things break down to the point of where seperation is inevitable, this also happens to African couples who live in the west, but not to degree of mixed marriages..
The gulf and differemces in beliefs, traditions, cultural norms eventually become too wide..
I have quite a few relatives and acquaintances who had children with British women, some married or some just dating and almost none lasted more than a decade at most if that..
Once the initial romantic feelings and attraction fade away and they have to rely on familial bonds and family relationships to get them through stormy waters, things break down...
God bless the man and keep him strong through this horrible tragedy.

@Claudfoz Please don't judge the father for not "teaching" about suicide. I am sure her could not imagine this would happen. Suicide is a societal problem. There is so much stigma and shame around suicide. What we need is a society that is more kind and friendly. We also need to more freely talk about suicide. In 2022 this was the worst year ever, nearly 50,000 people died by suicide in the US, yet it rarely makes the news. Suicide can happen to anyone. By the way, it is the number two cause of death in the 10-24 age group. Our society does not encourage people to reach out. By the statistics, one in four people have lost someone to suicide. There is a lot of isolation with suicide loss since often there is societal judgment of blame. I feel for this man.
