2014 High Moisture Corn Harvest and Processing

Shots of harvesting high moisture grain corn at Taylor Harvesting by Lethbridge Alberta, Kolk Farms Ltd and Kolk Farms Conrich Ltd by Picture Butte Alberta. The high moisture corn was processed at Kolk Farms Ltd feedlot and packed into the silage pit. Aerial footage was taken with a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ and there was some ground shots done with a GoPro.

How many percent moisture is high moisture in this case? We are glad if we combine corn at around 25%.

This was for high moisture grain corn so our target was 26-32%. But we were running 22-28% this year. Some of it got away from us.

what kind of yields do you normally aim for? how many heat unit is the variety you are growing?

We like to get around 140-160 bushel/acre. Have had better. Our grain hybrids are around the 2100-2250 heat units

Thanks Jordan. I used Cyberlink PowerDirector 12 software. I found it easy to use but still picking up new tips each time I edit.

80 to a 100 bushel an acre? dosen,t look like a yield buster

The first part of the video, that combine was doing more like 120-125 BPA. But the second set of combines was only doing 90-100 BPA. Both not great. Poorer year due to slow spring start and early frost
