My house is over 100+ years old and it was haunted when I first moved in. It was only there for about 6 months though. I guess it decided I was going to love the house and take care of it and I never saw it again. Well, I didn't actually SEE it, but my house is very quiet and I don't play music much. I was reading in bed and it was totally quiet and several times I would hear my front door open (It has a distinctive squeaking sound) and then I heard heavy boots come to my bedroom door. That was it, but it happened several times. It was not scary at all, although I imagine it should have been.
The last time it came down the hallway, I just said, "I love your house, but I bought it and it belongs to me now. I will take very good care of it and love it like you did. You are welcome to come visit if you like, but if you need to go to the light, you are free to go. Your house will be taken care of. I promise." And that is the last I heard of him.
