Honestly I agree with this 100% I always thought the layout was very interesting. I grew up in Ohio, my technical home park was Geauga Lake, but I also frequented Cedar Point. As a kid I said the SLC was my Raptor away from CP 😂💀I didn’t hate it as a kid
The ghost ship is 100% something to come back and do, there’s 20 live scare actors in there and some really god theming and jump scares. It’s also open all season long but I highly recommend doing it in peak season because if u go during fall or spring they won’t have all the scare actors in there yet. But regardless it’s a great attraction!
Buzzed Bars was there three weeks ago for Coasting By the Ocean…that’s is a highly underrated event that more enthusiasts should know about! Morey’s does a great job taking care of enthusiasts for that event.
*When a boardwalk pier can fix a coaster type that's been hated on by 99 percent of the population who have experienced but a corporation who has over 10 parks that they own and thousands of dollars more cant do it.*
Morey's Piers may seem like a small operation, but they have some heavy hitters on that team and especially did in the 1990s when this was opened. I agree with your statement though.
Look, the moment Sarah says, "This is the episode where Sarah gets what she wants," I was confused... Sarah ALWAYS gets what she wants! Keep the queen, happy! Those lines looked crazy. I'm glad you guys enjoyed this park.
Your Great Nor'Easter off ride video and review was the first videos of yours I watched back in 2014. It's been so great to see you and your production grow and improve over time whilst myself growing up watching your videos. I hope you carry on your success and joy for travelling and riding coasters- I'm really looking forward to watching your documentary coming out. Alex
Everyone laughed when either of us said the SLC's problems were the transitions and the trains and that the base layout was actually good. Well, who's laughing now? :P
Taylor, if you come back to the UK, you must get to fantasy island to ride the Odyssey and also to Flamingo Land to ride Kumali because they are fantastic SLCs with custom layouts and super smooth and intense too!
Ghost ship is a 100% must, I would recommend going back mid next summer when all the workers are there and going at night. it’s a great experience and really fun.
fun fact: the last operating flitzer in the us is barracuda at jolly roger, it was relocated from jenkinsons boardwalk in 2018, the only other is in south africa
Agree, I've actually ridden that thing after they rebuilt the track and it was awesome. It was like B&M good. The pacing, smoothness, inversions, TONS of force, no head banging. REALLY good ride. Top of the lift just like Great White has AMAZING views to.
Just was at Morey's Piers recently and got the front seat on the last train for Great White. It was amazing, the thing was hauling through the course and the view was awesome
Another really fun, totally smooth SLC is Kumali at flamingo land in the uk, it's a custom layout with a forceful first drop. It just proves that only roughness makes an SLC bad
Glad you liked the park, its always been a special one to me. I never even knew about all the SLCs and boomerangs all over until recently, but enjoyed them here as a kid
Morey’s definitely sets a precedent over all SLCs. Of all the things it makes me wish all SLCs could be like this. Of course the new SLCs/STCs are probably even better.
I clicked just as fast too! As someone who has been riding Nor Easter for the last decade, it is amazing to see a respected coaster enthusiast show it the love it deserves. For years now the re-tracking has kept this ride running like butter. The restraints are beyond comfortable and like mentioned in the video, your comfort lets you finally appreciate the layout and forceful elements of the SLC. One thing that wasn't mentioned but is my personal favorite aspect of this ride is how compact the coaster sits within Morey's Piers. This is the only SLC to be built on top of other attractions/elements and the abundance of near misses makes the ride feel that much faster and thrilling. The Nor Easter is the KING of SLC's!
I love Morey's Piers!!! Such a great atmosphere (especially at night), and they have great rides for a seaside park! You kind of have to be "flexible" though, as they may close earlier or later than the posted time depending usually on crowd levels.
There are 4 good Vekoma SLC's. Condor - Walibi Holland Great Nor'easter - Morey's Piers The Riddler Revenge - Six Flags New England Roller Coaster Mayan - Energylandia
Condor at Walibi Holland has now gotten the vest restraints too, It's much better now. I'm glad they modified it instead of removing it as it was very groundbreaking being the very first SLC.
I had nightmares because of Dante’s Inferno when I was a kid. I’m a little old… but I remember wildwood was littered with dark rides. Dracula’s castle was awesome… don’t even think the pier is there anymore. I do hear ghost-ship is a great replacement. They had they best flat rides… and I remember when GNE was violent lol. I can’t wait to ride it again! Also, you guys are adorable and thank you for the continued quality content.
On gatekeeper at Cedar Point we hit a seagull that was just standing on the track and it got stuck in my friends seat and was biting him until it flew away when we got to the break run.
They use to have those water tanks at Six Flags over Georgia in the early 90s. It was a up charge to drive them and a lesser charge to use the turrets along the edges.
I rode my first SLC this year. It was Limit @ Heide Park in Germany. I was worried because everybody hates on them so fiercely, so I put it off until the end of my visit. After riding it twice in a row, I thought LImit was a really fun ride. Definitely not the best at Heide Park, but far from the worst. Maybe it depends on how well they are taken care of? I officially don't have an opinion, as I have only been on one.
I remember I went to wildwood beach a number of years ago and I do remember going on the Ghost Ship ride at one of the piers, and when I was on it with the rest of my family the ride actually broke down and we were stuck hanging from the track. Our vehicle stopped moving and there was one behind us and it didn't stop moving and it bumped into ours. Eventually after sitting there for a little bit, there was a maintenance crew person who was standing on TOP of one of the boats heading over to fix ours and he was standing trying to fix the motor on the ride vehicle. He did fix it and we made back to the station. One experience I will never forget.
I agree. I rode Nor'Easter in 2019 and was surprised how great it was. No head banging. I think it is a top ride for me. Later that day I did Mind Eraser at SFA and they could not be any more different ride experiences.
My family went on vacation to Wildwood 10 years ago, and unfortunately as I was a frightened child I did not ride too many of the coasters. I only got on Doo Wopper, Sea Serpent (my first ever boomerang), and the now defunct Flitzer
The Great Nor’Easter was the first SLC/Invert I rode and I rode it for the first time in 2019. I was blown away by how awesome it was and it was definitely better than that headbanger Batman clone at Great Adventure! The Great White’s still my favorite coaster at Morey’s Piers, but Nor’Easter is pretty damn fun!
I hope they continue making improvements (like they did on the SLC and the vest restraints for sea serpent), they have been talking of having gravity group work on Great White. I'd love to see some stylish timberliner trains. It would be cool if that plan spanning over a decade actually came to fruition to get a new wooden GCI coaster over piers as well (maybe wait for titan track for inversions-revise the plans a little). They also need to actually have not-overpriced or only pay attractions (as in not in a wristband or season pass) by great white as well. But the whole place has clearly improved since when I was there.
The ghost ship is definitely amazing. I would do anything for more parks to have attractions like this!! And it's usually opened all summer, so not just Halloween. I think it's probably closed due to staffing since it has a bunch of actors in it. I can't wait till the 29th! We will be in Wildwood for 7 nights 💜
I came here in early August and had never ridden an SLC before but knew their reputation. I thought I was crazy when I loved it so I searched to see if you had talked about this before and just saw your review from a few years ago. Thanks for validating me with this haha
Ghost Ship usually isn’t just open for Halloween… I’ve only done it once and coming from someone who’s done dozens of haunts across the East Coast, it’s decently scary and pretty good… especially for a boardwalk attraction.
the mind eraser at sfa runs like this sometimes i guess when it has brand new wheels and it's a hot day? i've been on it in the same seat on the same train and had both my mind erased and my mind blown depending on how it's running. same with the boomerang at hershey
It used to kill you. When it first opened in 1995 I was 10. My family used to go to wildwood every year. I remember riding it as a kid it knocked my silly. They really did a great job making it a great coaster
I always thought that SLCs have so much potential. If you try to look past the roughness and headbanging, they are usually really intense and have insane near-miss elements. I have never been on one with these trains but I wish they all were enjoyable.

That was the best flat at the park and arguably the best ride overall at the park. Last time I ever rode it, I was the first one to ride it for the day and got a zen ride.
I gotta say, the layout of SLC’s are really cool. Wave turn, double heart line roll, too bad most of them kill you.

Morey's Piers takes GREAT care of their coasters.
The best SLC, the retrack the work they did was amazing, they retracked great white
Went a few days ago but didn’t get on great white I thought nor’easter was best in the park(s)
In the UK we have an awful SLC, infusion, but we have 2 fantastic SLCs with custom layouts, kumali and Odysey
They did? Did they retrack the Great White recently?

Yes, please. they are such good rides but the roughness just ruins the whole experience.
Did they take this concept on N.A.C.?
