    This is a great guide for beginners. There is so much inaccurate information out there on lipo-charging so it's nice to see a guide by someone who actually knows what he's talking about.

    You know what?!
    Good review, built in repetition.
    Clearly spoken.
    Informative.
    Clear.
    Concise.
    Good starting point for beginners.
    Looking forward to other videos from this channel.
    Thumbs up from a teacher :-)

    My son gave me a 4 button charger with a plane for Christmas. Don't know if they come with a manual, but this video stepped me through the process. Nice job producing this video and the information on Storage, Balance and Fast charges.

    I found this video amazingly helpful. Maybe the most helpful video I've ever seen on TH-cam. I just got a plane which uses one of these LiPo batteries (a PZ T-28) and I got one of these chargers. My charger came with instructions but they were impossible to understand. They need a better English translator! Anyway, I came to TH-cam for help and found your video and now I have a complete understanding of how to use my charger. Thank you VERY much for taking the time to create this video!

      Hmm. I remember the happy days when information came in magazine form and you didn't need to have somebody scanning through video timelines for you to highlight salient points... Just think - you could flip through pages yourself and find stuff! Some magazines even had an index so you didn't even need to turn pages.
      There's a whole generation of frantic, short-attention-span people now who see a 12 minute video thumbnail and refuse to watch it all the way through because the guy who made it didn't provide a list of the times when the juicy bits occurred. How sad. All that work for nothing...
      In a way it's quite an insult. People can't be bothered even to watch what you've spent hours putting together. No wonder so many TH-cam Channels are abandoned by their makers: the feedback they receive is basically, 'Just give me the facts, immediately, then shut the hell up and get out of my life'.
      Enjoying a hobby and learning something new is so much more civilised with a magazine, a hot drink, and a packet of biscuits...

    I watch this video every 3 months or so when I get the urge to fly R/C. Having forgotten everything (old-timer's disease) I need help. Thanks for this!
    My only whine is the narrator's accent is so thick, and he speaks so fast, I only understand a small part of the audio. I'm glad for the video portion - at least I can get the sequence of button-pushing in order. P.S. I'm unilingual (American English) and very poor at understanding UK accents. My bad.

    Very informative. What is the best charging current to use for a 2S battery with 1000mAh capacity. Your video recommends 1.0A for this battery. From what I gather this is a 1C charge rate. My battery has a maximum charge rate of 5C as defined by the manufacturer. If I charge at the 5C rate, will the battery life (# of charge cycles) be reduced? If I charge at .5A or .5C will the battery life be greater? I know the charge times will different, but I'm looking for the maximum battery life.

  • @cambridgekiwi
    @cambridgekiwi 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Bruce... my charger is slightly different, it automatically starts charging as soon as it detects a battery in the circuit - with the last settings made on the charger. Hence if you were to recommend a standard practice for charging, that would be to make sure the settings are made in the charger for the correct battery type BEFORE connecting the lipo for charging. I have an Orbit Pocket ladder, and it auto detects the number of cells for charging which you have to accept to start charging

    Good video, but I always use the "charge" mode. I was thinking it balances there as well when I have balance plug connected. Try to toggle 1 click on + button Bruce, when doing a "charge" (with balance plug conn.). On my 4-button Turnigy Accucell 8150 it seems to balance the cells. But a little confusing what the "balance" mode would be good for then. Hmm

  • @asker857
    @asker857 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi. I bought one of these online and its arriving tomorrow but just now I saw a couple of videos showing that these "newer" models have firmware which does not let the user calibrate voltage settings. One example is that when the voltage was supposed to be zero, the unit read 0.19 V. In turn, this would fully charge a lipo excessively by that amount which can damage it. What can you say? Thanks for any and all...

  • @justinspirational
    @justinspirational 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    also if the lipo storage takes the cells down to about only 3.7V per cell, isn't that discharging about 89% (leaving only about 11% charge in)? I thought it's not good to discharge lipos more than 80%..? thank you for your opinion on this

  • @AustinPetDetective

    You need a 12-15 vdc output power supply of at least 5A to charge with the Accucell 6. I think the computer charging he mentioned was an old computer power supply where you can pick off the right voltage from the outlet wiring.

  • @shoopdj
    @shoopdj 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the power supply have to put out exactly 12 VDC? Mine, used for my Hobbico Accu-charger, puts our 14 VDC and doesn't work with the Turnigy Accucell 6.

    I note the caution on ideal storage voltage, fine for RC applications.
    BUT what about LiPo batteries for flashlights? In this case you want to reach for your flashlight only when you need (maybe occasionally) it & know that there is plenty of capacity. One of my flashlights does not perform well at below 3.7V

    Thank You, for taking your time to get back to me. I balance charge every time and try to keep them around 3.8 per cell.

    Thank you for the video. Much more comfortable than a manual with micro letters...
    I am a bit confused with the 'C' numbers mine is a 7,4 1300Ma with 25C value. Am i correct to set the loader to a amp of 1,3?

    Bizarre question: If I were to solder 3 3.7v iPod batteries together to get 11.1v, each at 1200 MAh, could I use a charger like this to charge the whole thing? Could I just set it to 1.2 A and 11.1v? I wouldn't have the balancer connection though

    Thanks Bruce, very informative video. Can you show us how to calibrate the chargers balance port next? Mine is slightly out, 0.1 to 0.3 volts on some cells. SO I would like to recalibrate it asap.

    I have just ordered this exact charger to use with some 6.6v LiFe 2S and 4.8v NiMh Rx batteries, the charger only seems to cater for 7.4v or 3.7v... will this be a problem?? Any help much appreciated

    just got my new charger and ive got a 100-240v-50/60hz-180mA wall charger from Dick Smith that you can charge 5v to 23v yet when I plug it in to my Turnigy Accucell 6 to charge my Lipos it says "input vol err"
    Is the wall charger too grunty or not grunty enough or no good ??? not sure whats happening with it. Any suggestions ???
