Wow. Looks like they got rid of the whole creepy theme. The problem I had with the 1st one was that the Ghosts were too cartoony even for a mario game, the important ghost looked a tad more creepy. But it seems they've made the ghosts even more cartoony and the game overall just seems to lack a dark factor like the 1st one somehow grasped. Oh well, this is just the demo and it does look fun.
Today I gathered a couple Target gift cards, some cash, and coins totaling the estimated price of the game (assuming the game will be the same price as all other 3DS main titles, and including my regional sales tax) at Target to the nearest penny, and I also have the $1 reservation card. The money is folded between the 2 gift cards, so I will only need to remove the rubber bands to pay.
If you watch Nintendo World Report's videos from this year, you will see that the game's story is now focused on an artifact called the Dark Moon, which shattered and caused some ghost thing to happen. I don't know the exact story yet, because we haven't gotten any story explanation from Nintendo. We just have what we see in the demos for now. And a short answer for your question: because they can.

It was one of the portraits in the scene of Luigi entering the mansion with four ghosts in the room, and I had expected Easter eggs or references of some sort when I first observed that there were many pictures on the mansion walls in the demo. I will post a video about this horrific Easter egg as soon as possible.
Yay! my birthday and Christmas are within those months! I hope Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon gets released around the Halloween season! (Which, in the Disney parks, starts in mid-September) Halloween would be a great release date for a spooky game, just like Resident Evil Revelations was released on a Friday the 13th.
I wish Luigi had laughed when that ghost hit its head on the sink. It's nice to find something to laugh about when you're afraid or upset, so I hope Luigi will be amused by some things in the mansions. And I hope the ghost puppy seen in the trailer will be his friend. It's so adorable!

What does the preorder get you anyway...if it came with new characters, mansions, it upgrades to the poltergust than it would be more worth the time of preordering :/
I miss the intro of the original Luigi's Mansion. I know Luigi's an expert ghost hunter and all, but in this segment they didn't make the Ghosts look intimidating at all, they're just playful. In the original intro segment the ghosts are mysterious and soon, creepy, even scary when they come after you to kill you. Even when E.Gadd comes to save the day you get a feeling of intimidation when even the guy who saved you can't handle the ghosts. They took the fear factor away... :
Yes I thought it was creepy, not scary, two different meanings. I was 5 when LM was released, the only part that scared me a tad was the graveyard area. They didn't try to pretend like it was scary, they were aiming for a creepy theme which they got a good hold on. But the creepy theme in this sneak peek feels weak. But then again this is just the demo.

This may seem a silly question, but how is the controls supposed to work? The original had two analog sticks to work with, and obviously the 3DS does not. I'm not gonna have to buy the Circle Pad Pro, am I?

I hope you realize that's not a glitch. The older car has two hood openings, and only one closed. The other door on the other side of the hood is still up.

the grunt luigi makes in the beginning sounds like the hurt sound file that was only used in the japanese version of the first luigi's mansion.
