As a trombonist Rita is improving all the time. And thank you all for the music!
I used to say that, then I went back to her first trombone outings and was blown away by her mastery and confidence. (2014, Moanin') This may be simpler, but what she attempts is delivered perfectly. Perfect, fat razzing tone, effortless fall into a trailing syncopation that gets Joan Chamorro going "wooo". From the earliest days when its sticking to the plan, the execution is perfect. But RP has said in interview that she never plays the same thing twice. She's the tight team player when required, otherwise an adventurer. I think of her as the Ignasi Terraza of the trombone. Sometimes it doesn't quite come off, but its worth the risk, because its always interesting.

@@fliprim Without subway they are three great! Enrique and Jaume are very winged. Rita is shorter in height, as we know, but together with these companions, she reaches the sky.
@@Andreu_Rovira Enrique and Jaume are high fliers, for sure. But with her upcoming Madrid concert, opening for Laufey, I think Rita will truly take off as the real "saviour of jazz" (as Laufey is described). Rita does authentic jazz (Laufey does 1950s pop music) but, also, she is starting to musically innovate with her latest album. Her string and vocal arrangements are very good. In a year I expect her to do work with Jacob Collier...

Really nice tune! I really enjoyed it.
I've never seen such expressive toes! Great fun. From the family footage on El Marabino we always suspected Rita was probably quite a naughty child. Here she is running off the beaten track in bare feet... I love the way she nudges the boundaries of what our expectations are. Love this trio and this toe-tapping track. Can't wait for more.

This is her fourth time at the piece and she sang on all earlier versions. Maybe, the forthcoming album needed a little music only balance? I can't wait to see the rest of it...

@@homzymusic Her singing elsewhere on the album is a particular reason for tucking in to it. "I Cover the Waterfront" is a rich main course, but a balanced menu allows you to eat more.
