I really enjoyed both. I think I preferred the 54s until you got to middle+bridge & bridge. But really, they both sounded amazing (you’re playing is top notice). How is it you don’t have way more subs? Your tone is killer & video is great. Your place has a great vibe 👌 it sounds like an inspiring room!

After my wife and I recovered from COVID last year we had lingering symptoms that took time to go away! I feel your pain man. Wife and I both hit the hospital and both made it. Great to see you back! I think the 50s set sound ‘stratier’ and the full monty almost like you’ve got a boost or a TS on (or more generally like ‘Texas’ strat pickups). Both sound great. I’d probably go for the 50s set because I think strats to be… strats! But if you have that in another guitar then the full monty give a cool difference.
@@SashaIvantic I have a baseplate on the bridge only and it works well with Texas special pickups; the extra mids help make the bridge less brittle. Not sure I’d want it on the others. Also, I’ve wired the second tone pot as a blend control for the neck so have have neck and bridge together make it cool (almost) tele middle sound. Further down the rabbit hole we go…!
Sounds great! Had Covid over the same time you did, was real rough but not like anything you dealt with. Had my fair share of medical issues. Takes a long time to come around after something like a PE. Welcome back to life haha

She’s a Beauty! Great Bones! New pickups sound great 👍 Definitely, not as Glassy, but way more midrange PUNCH 🥊 in a Good Way. Still has “Strat-i-ness”. I had a similar outcome when I switched out Lindy Fralin Real ‘54s for his Vintage Hots in my Partscaster. Both sets were awesome, but I just needed a little more output, and midrange to drive my pedals, and amp.
It always makes me think. They go to such great lengths to choose the wood for the body, neck and fingerboard. A nice heavy block for the vibrato.The windings for the pickups, how many winds, the ohmage, the output. Then they go screwing the pickups into a piece of flimsy plastic.... 😂😁🤔
The 54's sounds more bluesy to me wich I love...but you have bluesy sounding guitars. The full monthy is more present, more Twang...different but love it !!

I think they both sound good, different, but good. My opinion is that the '54 set sounds better. They sound more like a strat should. More articulate and clear. The new set is obviously a hotter wound set. If that is what you are going for then they will be best for you, but I think the first set gives it a proper vintage tone. You can always add an overdrive or run your amp a little hotter to get the sound of the Second set and individual notes will be clearer. You can't really go backwards with the second set. Unless rolling off the guitar volume cleans it up a bit. Hard to get a real good assessment from the video. Going on the available tones in the video I think you should put the other pickups back in. However, it is not my guitar so my opinion doesn't really matter...
Gotta say I agree, the 54s let more of the guitar's inherent tone through. The increased output pickups sound more like a mic pre turned past clear into lightly distorted. I hear less nuance with the full monty set since the guitar has such a strong voice inherently.

Yep, it's starting to sound more and more like a built in Tubescreamer. The baseplates push forward the mids so I think I'll remove them.

Wow both sets are sound great, the 54 is so smooth while the other one is a bit more glassy. Maybe you need 2 strat foreach pickup set 🤣
The Full Monty’s + baseplates + wiring loom sounded “like Hendrix but maple” to me. I prefer the 54 set on neck and middle.
