It’s been a while since I first heard the album and I still have not changed my opinion on it. I’m stuck on this album and I only listen to it at night or very early in the morning when it’s still dark outside. I don’t know but it just hits me right in the emotions. Who knew static and moaning could almost bring a man to tears because? It feels like a good representation of life in the modern age. Merzbow represents the bustle and chaos of everyday life like the constant humming of electronics, cars zooming by, or people mindlessly droning out their work. Boris represents the beautiful nothings life has to offer. To look at the blue sky, to feel a smile creep across your face when you remember that funny joke with your friends years ago, to get lost in a daydream, to having butterflies in your stomach when you think of that one person, to enjoying silence. The contrast of two dynamic sounds melded together so gracefully is what makes this such an overwhelming and emotional listen. Absolutely stunning to hear
The contrast between Boris’ absolutely dream-like waves and Merzbow’s noise is just beautiful to me. It feels like a deftones album slowed, reverbed, and filled with staticky feedback. Like Koi No Yokan or Saturday Night Wrist if it was heard while you were deep in REM sleep and could barely recall the sound after you woke up. Incredible!
@@toimartinto yes I would too! I think Deftones’ most standout tracks were songs like Sextape, Hole In the Earth, Cherry Waves, Ghosts, Teenager, and Change. When I think of deftones it’s that dreamy sound that comes to mind. Ohms was a good release, but it lacked the dream pop sound that made them so different
my aoty, and my favorite boris album tbh. simply amazing, stunning, beautiful... i didn't expected an album with re-recorded boris songs remixed by akita to be THAT good
@@kylek4202 Hard pass. Don't care what other people think about music that I like or don't. Maybe you'd be a little happier in life with the same philosophy... then again, some people love having stuff to complain about.
Maybe I'm just jaded but sometimes I think only silence can really illustrate the bleakness of everything rather than some EQ filtered distortion and moaning

'beautiful nothings' is a great expression. Gonna steal that

Loving the comparison! Would also love seeing Deftones exploring those dreamlike soundscapes more often these days

This album was torture. It will live on in my memory bank.
Try listening to Merzbow - Venereology
Maybe I'm just jaded but sometimes I think only silence can really illustrate the bleakness of everything rather than some EQ filtered distortion and moaning
it does the job
It's euphoric not bleak
Did you even listen to the album?
@@Bernholesurfer maybe it was buffering
I feel you, cousin. Some of us have private minds that are soothed by noise.
