I had that 2XL, by why of a hand me down from cousin. It played 4-Track tapes that it came with, as well as music 4-track tapes. So much fun! Toys definitely were starting to get a lot more cooler around this time.
These aired either Saturday, 12/1/79 at 5 PM or Saturday, 12/8/79 at 5 PM. WPIX aired "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" two Saturdays in a row, which was the style at the time...
Lots of early childhood memories for me this volume. The Dolly Pops Poptown doll things were a favorite toy of mine! The 2-XL robot was SO much fun! I really liked trying to answer the questions though it was not my personal toy I played with it whenever I got the chance and it had working batteries!
0:09--I loved the Lakeside Perfection games back then! I received "Superfection" as a Christmas gift the year before this (and yes, I still have it). My first grade classroom had the original Perfection. I don't recall ever playing Computer Perfection, though. 1:09--I distinctly remember that "Lollipop" song being used as a jingle for Life Savers Lollipops, but I don't remember the Dolly Pops Poptown commercial--kind of strange, because this is the period (as opposed to the late 1980's and 90's) when I can really identify with the "kiddie" commercials. 3:19--I had Energized Spiderman also. (I think I got it for Christmas the same year as Superfection.) Spiderman was my favorite superhero back then because I was a huge fan of "The Electric Company" on PBS, which featured "Spidey Super Stories". 5:58--I had a Tyco electric racing set, but I don't think it was the Super Duper Double Looper.
Lakeside Marx Knickerbocker Mego Aurora Remco It's the reunion of defunct 70s toy companies! Also I'd be safe to say that the WPIX bumpers do date to at least the mid 70s, maybe earlier. This was a variant on the well loved and remembered Sunday Afternoon Movie bumper at th-cam.com/video/WPc-JIrdvU0/w-d-xo.html

I had the King Pin II pinball machine and my brother had that Spider-Man doll. I remember all of these commercials.😁
I had just the payday game board, left over from my brothers and sister, I loved looking at the artwork on it.
The good old days when families played together and truly bonded!!!
Never actually happened. Only in the commercials.

Thank you for taking me back to Christmas 1979. Great memories. Almost brought a tear to my eye.
Dang. I was 12 years old and only can remember the Payday, Big Wheel Rally Cycle, and Flex-Track commercials.
@foon03 Yeah, I likely saw it but my memory has faded, lol. We're getting up there in age!

Thanks to my childhood, I am immediately sceptical of anything that INCLUDES batteries. I'm also sceptical of gypsies...
Great video!
Fiddlesticks looks like the precursor to K'nex
Here's the "Holiday Movie Special" commercial bumper song:

that's not Lego.
Been looking for this commercial bumper and that theme for two years. Thanks a million for posting! 🎶👍
So many different toy manufacturers, all competing with each other. Before Mattel and Hasbro started devouring them all.
