Yea, I remember those days... Jake, still in high school, nervously laughing and adding his own spontaneous comments as he read the script. (And people giving him crap for it in the comments. 😕) ... We had one where I used to live. I'd always ride my bike there after school. Then I noticed that they got rid of most of the electronics section, where I'd usually go for video games, and then later, I noticed how the shelves were emptier than usual. A few weeks later after I moved, I found out it closed down. Not surprised, we had a Wal-Mart just down the same road. Now it's in the middle of being converted into a health care facility.
It makes my heart sink at 1:05 when you're looking out at the road and the lights and everyone's lives continuing as normal and it's as if the abandoned lot is in a different reality that you can look out but nobody can see in idk

This video was well put together... Love the lightning storm at the beginning... I have lots of find memories of the old Kmarts... As a kid, seeing those "blue light specials" were always exiting... We have an old abandoned Kmart here in Reno Nevada where I live... Been that way for about 5, maybe 10 years now... I went to that old Kmart at the time of closing and the feeling there was sad, even kinda eerie, to say the least... As for the "grocery store" there... I have reason to believe it was a "Circle K"... Yes, Circle K is a conveniance store/petrol station, there are some Circle K stores that are more like a grocery type of store... And though Circle K was never a part of Kmart, they leased that part of the Kmart store for location purposes, then when Kmart closed its doors, the Circle K store closed as well so as to relocate perhaps... Look at it like this, "Little Caesars" has *NOTHING* to do with Kmart, and is still alive and well today, but yet, there seems to have been a Little Caesars in every Kmart... Well, the Circle K could have been the same sorta thing... Again, nice video, and well put together...
Wow! Kmart in Australia has completely turned around and is one of our leading stores! Funny how a name can be doing down hill somewhere and bloom in another Country! Be interesting to see what Walmart does here when launched
Your videos are a cut above the rest on TH-cam, the start with the lightning, fireworks and train horn gave me shivers.....such a great intro. Love your films
Honestly, Kmart always had a depressing vibe to it. Yet always has a nostalgic feel to them. Like you get hit with a "blast from the past" vibe. When you walk into it, even now a days! Hard to really explain. But, that is how it feels to me. 🤷♀️
Jake, really cool video dude. I like the eerie vibes you got going here. Music selection is spot on. If I remember correctly, the "Circle K" was the name of food stores connected to K-Mart when K-Mart was first appearing around the U.S. so that store must have been one of the originals. Nice work as always.
cousinzbandmack Big KMart was a larger format that added a grocery section and enlarged some departments, especially children’s clothing. It didn’t have a full grocery store, though, that would come with the Super KMart format. Some stores kept the “Big” on the front of the store for years after the separate format was dropped.
Holy crap... I shopped at that Kmart when I was growing up. The store itself closed around 1998-2000ish and was replaced by a newer Kmart which is still open two towns over. The area was always not too great, but its really gone downhill the past ten years or so. I've always wondered what happened to that store since it has closed.
I remember going to the K-Mart in White Lake, Michigan with my mother back in the 90's. I used to hate when she bought something for me and would put it in layaway. Now as an adult, I understand why she did it. K-Mart was a part of my childhood, so seeing a video of one completely abandoned is pretty eerie.
We have an empty Kmart in Hillsboro Ohio. Every time I pass it I look at it and it reminds me of the shopping mall from George a Romero's Dawn of the Dead.
@@RagingMoon1987 yeah I was about to say the only thing that keeps me from shitting myself watching this is that they dont run into some homeless or psycho

@@Cookie-ys6xd they are diffuser vents for rooftop air units. The shape of the vent is meant to evenly distribute the heated/cooled air into the space.
The storm shot was kinda sad to me and yet chilling because that parking lot used to be full of cars and people now it’s run down and abandoned.... inside of the building was super creepy and the part where the ceiling collapsed also was super creepy. R.I.P K-Mart thank you for sharing your video with us, you were definitely brave to go into a place like that. I would want to explore places like that but hell I wouldn’t even get within a few feet of it.
Bright sun, that's the Circle K grocery store there to the right of Kmart! The "K" is supposed to be on the square that's faded! We still have a couple of Circle K supermarkets here in Flint! It used to be a Hamady's supermarket! My mom used to work at the Beecher Kmart when she was pregnant with me! Lol! Shoplifters and teen thugs running wild are what ended that Kmart's life and many of the stores in Beecher! Enjoying your vlogs! Great work! :)
The K-Mart in my town of Sunland, CA has also been closed since 1999 or 2000. That's not it though, ours was also built on what used to be a drive in theater. I wonder if there are any other closed K-Marts with these similarities?
Stephie Aileen I have passed by that Kmart thousands of times. It was going to be a Home Depot, then a target. That never happened. It still sits as a vacant Kmart
Clean up on aisle 7! 😂 I remember going to a "Going out of business" sale once, they sell EVERYTHING. Signs, shelves, the carpet.....even the cash registers. (and it later ends up on American Pickers..lol) which explains why these abandon stores have nothing in them.
Walmart's lack of customer service skills will take them out. I don't go into Walmart anymore because more often than not, the people working there are dickheads.
though i never been to this specific kmart it gave me very specific nostalgia. the opening to this with a coming storm in the backround reminded me of older days in my home state, where occasionally we would go down town during the evening, but on our way back we had to stop at the k mart we passed along the way to get some home essentials, paper cups, plates, vacuum bags ect. but before we went in there was usually an approaching storm, and the parking lot lights havent quite caught on yet to activate because it was getting dark real fast. 15 miles from home we grabbed what we needed and checked out as fast as kmartly possible at the time, then rushing back to our neighboring rural city to get home and bring in the stuff with the rain at our heels. urgency but was a thrill in a way. by this time the kmart in new symrna beach florida is closed for 4 years now but this brought back some awesome memories
Last K mart i went into was in Portland Oregon. And wasnt cause i needed something. Late 80s and 90s seemed to be a depressing time for these stores. Post falls Idaho has a rather large strip mall with maybe 5 active businesses in it. Has a 90s feel. Im sure back then it was the place to be

I fucking love these late-night exploring videos. It's just got this vibe that I can't really explain...
He needs to more old malls and old stores love them so old and awesome and nice i love them
That F word was very forced, if you get what I meant
@@IMEEntertainment Bruh, how does that matter? This is a TH-cam comment.
Mr. Meloetta you probably liked Silent Hill too then.
You're in a place thats no longer in service, at a time where service wouldn't have been provided anyway. Personally, I think its similar to why we watch Crime/Murder TV shows - its interesting to see what the bustling world is like when its out of commission.
Call me sheltered, but I haven't been to too many places where a building was no longer being used for something.

For real Jake when is your feature film coming out? I think you would be a great film maker, thanks for the video I love the creepy Kmart store for Halloween season.
Kmart and Sears as a whole are in bankruptcy now, so sad.
Matthew Wolfgram they should not have merged
Why is it sad?
Matthew Wolfgram they still have their website.
And toys r us
New Jersey has k mart still open
"Hey there demons, it's me your boi"
Pfft, what would a demon do here? Ok, maybe eat the guy who was sleeping and getting drunk on the pallet, but otherwise?

This is one of my favorite channels of all time. Your work is incredible
Thank you Josh!
Only discovered this channel a few days ago. Tonight I got to this video. Odd timing, as I just found out yesterday that the abandoned (roughly 6 years) KMart in my town was just razed sometime in the last week.
400 apartments will be going up in its place. I mean, we really need the housing space here... but it's just... weird... to see the building gone.
The most crowded Kmart in America...

New Jersey’s is still alive
The first 15 seconds is just perfect.
The liquor bottles next to the pallet, along with the bunched up clothes on the pallet makes me think you may have just taken a tour of someone’s home. Bunched up clothes for a pillow, and pallet to keep them elevated off the floor like a bed.
how desperate would someone have to be to pick a building like that to sleep off the street?
Probably someone whose homeless and desperate for a roof
Bobby Lawson Looked fairly recent, and could be kids partying - don’t think a lot of homeless people buy Tito’s Vodka - it’s not super expensive, but definitely higher priced than a lot of other brands.
I hear Michigan winters are tough. A homeless person would definitely seek shelter in there. That's what he stumbled across.
2016: "they say they will use it for a warehouse
2020: oh shoot hes right
Hey ryder sherm-head asshole
It’s still abandoned. There were at least 3 abandoned Kmarts in Flint. This one in the video remains abandoned
Location: 38V3+65 Mt Morris Township, Michigan
@@Isaac9pd Holy crap! this is still sitting abandoned!
This is the reason I'm still alive to this day. These kind of videos and just doing this in real life gets me going. I don't find anything as fun as this anymore.
This is what you get is you cross an ASMR video with creepypasta.
Beautiful shots at the beginning.

Our K-Mart in Russellville , Arkansas was the last one in the state when it closed right around last Christmas. Now we have five Dollar General stores to keep Wal-Mart honest.
Yes, I miss it. One of my favorite places too. It's sad
closed one here in Jonesboro too,
My Kmart in my town closed for like 5 years & now it’s a military training camp
Preparing for World War III
What is the address of the closed Kmart that you say is now a military training camp?

A shame that Dank Memes killed the term now.

Morgan Limes I’m assuming it’s Brennan using the uncharted travel account so most likely he just linked him to it and was like “yo check it out”
As if it's not creepy enough, let's explore during a thunderstorm!
I know right I would at least bring ten friends
The train and lighting storm comes perfect for the abandoned kmart
Yuri I agree
Great video Jake!
Wow! Kmart in Australia has completely turned around and is one of our leading stores! Funny how a name can be doing down hill somewhere and bloom in another Country! Be interesting to see what Walmart does here when launched
The lightning, train horn, and fireworks was such a perfect opening.
Your videos are a cut above the rest on TH-cam, the start with the lightning, fireworks and train horn gave me shivers.....such a great intro. Love your films
I can remember the days when Kmart started to lose hope 😔
“Thanks for Not Smoking” alittle ironic
Honestly, Kmart always had a depressing vibe to it. Yet always has a nostalgic feel to them. Like you get hit with a "blast from the past" vibe. When you walk into it, even now a days! Hard to really explain. But, that is how it feels to me. 🤷♀️
EmileeJean24 Imao K-Marr wasn’t really depressing. It was actually pretty nice to shop at the last years
Jake, really cool video dude. I like the eerie vibes you got going here. Music selection is spot on. If I remember correctly, the "Circle K" was the name of food stores connected to K-Mart when K-Mart was first appearing around the U.S. so that store must have been one of the originals. Nice work as always.
I dont think Circle K was ever part of K Mart? At least, according to their website.
TableWrens yeah ours never was. Our KMart used to be called Big Mart though for some reason.
cousinzbandmack Big KMart was a larger format that added a grocery section and enlarged some departments, especially children’s clothing. It didn’t have a full grocery store, though, that would come with the Super KMart format. Some stores kept the “Big” on the front of the store for years after the separate format was dropped.
Circle K was never connected with Kmart. Circle K is a gas station/ Convenience store chain that is associated with Plaid Pantry.
One of the creepiest yet amazing intros - the abandoned store backlit with lightning! Brilliant
Well the fitting rooms still standing lol i miss Kmart was on of my favorite shopping spots.
Me too!
That opening scene was fantastic.
The breathing sounds add suspense.
Sounds and looks like an apocalyptic aftermath lol
I
Woah, that first shot with the lightning, the train horns, and crickets is eerily beautiful.
That mask breathing though ;)
John Dang I thought it was his nose. 😂
The “circle” store would’ve been Kmart foods but they all just became random grocery stores at some point
Can we all appreciate how stunning that opening shot is?
The music at the beginning into that eerie shot ... wow 👌👌👌👌
We have an empty Kmart in Hillsboro Ohio. Every time I pass it I look at it and it reminds me of the shopping mall from George a Romero's Dawn of the Dead.
Damn the beginning ad looked like it was straight from Fallout
GunslingerPlays its as if fallout took inspiration from that time period
Did it though ? Fallout is set in the 2280's my dude.
Yeah but it takes some inspiration from the 50's and 60s
Fallon's.
Have you ever come across a squatter?
Is this the creepiest abandoned building you ever explored?
I was wondering too if he'd ever run into a squatter.
@@RagingMoon1987 yeah I was about to say the only thing that keeps me from shitting myself watching this is that they dont run into some homeless or psycho
They did onxe
I think the most horrifying abandoned building he has explored is the abandoned sears in an abandoned mall
Always remember those round ventilators they are classic
I know this might be a stupid question but what are those?
Juanito Aguilera They were the type of ac units in the ceiling that old K-marts used years ago , nothing special really just unique to that era I guess
@@Cookie-ys6xd they are diffuser vents for rooftop air units. The shape of the vent is meant to evenly distribute the heated/cooled air into the space.
I've seen other stores and our mall has that style of defusers. Apparently those were popular up to the 1960's, maybe 70's.
I love this video, it’s what got me into watching people film abandoned places
The storm shot was kinda sad to me and yet chilling because that parking lot used to be full of cars and people now it’s run down and abandoned.... inside of the building was super creepy and the part where the ceiling collapsed also was super creepy. R.I.P K-Mart thank you for sharing your video with us, you were definitely brave to go into a place like that. I would want to explore places like that but hell I wouldn’t even get within a few feet of it.
But aye nice editing bro 10/10

Uhaul bought this and has revamped the building and parking lot into a self storage facility and truck rental. Thank god looks great now!!!
U haul bought this one too? I see that they bought the one on Miller Rd.
Did they tear down the old building??
Haley Lloyd ......uhaul also bought the old Kmart in Alton, Illinois.
They bought an old Kmart in Erie pa as well .. Uhaul is taking over just like Walmart
Uhaul bought the one in waterford michigan also
Imagine going into an abandoned Kmart and hearing "attention Kmart shoppers" over the intercom... lol
Thst beginning shotnwith the thunderstorm in the back is just perfection dude.
Sad to see Kmarts are no more. Growing up that was the store I remember. My aunt worked for one as a manager for many years.
Very cool with the lightning, my local K-Mart abandoned as of December 1, 2019....I wonder how long it will sit there? A long time I hope.
K-mart was one of my favorite stores when I was little. So, sad to see what has happened to it in recent years! 😧
your kidding me i’ve been watching you for months and just now seeing this is my childhood kmart it was truly horrible
This activated my fight or flight response, but I kept watching because it was so interesting-😭✋🏻
This videos are worth the wait
Come back kmart. Montgomery ward and woolworths
Montgomery ward is back since 2004 as Montgomery ward. Com
Zayre, Ames, Goldblatt's, Service Merchandise too
Clean up on aisle 7! 😂 I remember going to a "Going out of business" sale once, they sell EVERYTHING. Signs, shelves, the carpet.....even the cash registers. (and it later ends up on American Pickers..lol) which explains why these abandon stores have nothing in them.
Why even bother trying to save it with a new roof? It looks likes it all needs to be demolished.
Happy New Year and thank you for sharing✌💛☺
K-Mart looking more like a Walmart in 2019 lol 😂
Lmao
Walmart's lack of customer service skills will take them out. I don't go into Walmart anymore because more often than not, the people working there are dickheads.
congrats on 520k when u hit a million im gonna be soooooooo happy great job so far
I had an abandoned kmart behind my house and dollar general, and a kroger was connected to it, creepy as shit when I explored it
Dude what a good opening shot with the fireworks looking like ominous thunder, props to you.
Flint Michigan is my home town and yes i use to go at Kmart in 90s before they shut it down
Watching this at 1:40 am just waiting for a jump scare!!!
It's crazy because I always thought abandoned Kmarts had an Erie vibe. They've been in my dreams
though i never been to this specific kmart it gave me very specific nostalgia. the opening to this with a coming storm in the backround reminded me of older days in my home state, where occasionally we would go down town during the evening, but on our way back we had to stop at the k mart we passed along the way to get some home essentials, paper cups, plates, vacuum bags ect. but before we went in there was usually an approaching storm, and the parking lot lights havent quite caught on yet to activate because it was getting dark real fast.
