I actually used to be deathly scared of the Moon. I watched Chuggaaconroy's Majora Mask LP during the whole Mayan Apocalypse fiasco and it convinced me the Moon crashing into Earth was how the world was gonna end. It wasn't until 8th grade or so that I truly overcame my fear because I remember hearing a reading of Italo Calvino's "The Distance of the Moon" and being really mesmerized by it. (It's a beautiful short story. Very creative!) Since then, the Moon is one of my favorite things in the sky, along with the constellations.
The thumbnail threw me off a bit. I thought Mark was going to talk about how the Majora's Mask moon caused him trauma like it's done to so many other people. 😆
It's from a video game calledThe Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It's a moon that the main bad guy summons to literally crash into the town that the hero, Link, is stuck in. The moon has a SUPER creepy face on it. It's a decent game, though I could never beat it because having a time limit of three days, even with the option of time traveling back eventually, caused too much anxiety in my younger self. 😅

It used the same assets as one of the more beloved 3-D Zelda games, Ocarina of Time. Fun fact; If you've heard of or seen the creepypasta videos of "Ben Drowned", Majora's Mask is where the creepypasta came from. I think the remakes are on the Switch, though don't quote me on that. They're both worth a play if only to see how far both the graphics and the gameplay have come in 3-D games.

It's all about algorithm!! Because you looked at the moon posts, whether you are a member of that sub reddit or not, you will constantly keep getting similar posts. That happened to me with the door dash subreddit. I don't use dd nor do I work for dd, and I looked at ONE post, and now it's daily that reddit notifies me of dd sub posts 🤦🏼♀️ it's all I see on my reddit now..

I actually used to be deathly scared of the Moon. I watched Chuggaaconroy's Majora Mask LP during the whole Mayan Apocalypse fiasco and it convinced me the Moon crashing into Earth was how the world was gonna end. It wasn't until 8th grade or so that I truly overcame my fear because I remember hearing a reading of Italo Calvino's "The Distance of the Moon" and being really mesmerized by it. (It's a beautiful short story. Very creative!) Since then, the Moon is one of my favorite things in the sky, along with the constellations.

What’s the Majora’s Mask moon?
It's from a video game calledThe Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It's a moon that the main bad guy summons to literally crash into the town that the hero, Link, is stuck in. The moon has a SUPER creepy face on it. It's a decent game, though I could never beat it because having a time limit of three days, even with the option of time traveling back eventually, caused too much anxiety in my younger self. 😅
@@sunnywhite196 That legit sounds pretty freaky and kinda weird that it’s in a game made towards kids. A creepy moon cult that summons a demon moon with a unnerving face to crash into a village with only three days to stop it. Sounds like Link took a wrong turn down .EXE road ngl lol.
@@thebfbs8746 There wasn't a cult involved, just one person. The game's visuals and storyline are pretty creepy for a game that originally came out on the Nintendo 64. It used the same assets as one of the more beloved 3-D Zelda games, Ocarina of Time. Fun fact; If you've heard of or seen the creepypasta videos of "Ben Drowned", Majora's Mask is where the creepypasta came from. I think the remakes are on the Switch, though don't quote me on that. They're both worth a play if only to see how far both the graphics and the gameplay have come in 3-D games.
