I'm on the other side of the pond . My W8 with the Continental 0-200 for power is based at Ionia County Airport in Michigan. Though mine has the smaller engine it was built to accommodate the 150 horsepower Lycoming so my landing gear is beefier as well as the motor mount and firewall forward area. I really enjoy this airplane. I do have the different wing on it with the tapered tips and the semi-symmetrical airfoil. It will top out in 150 mph range and cruise at 130 on just under 4 gallons per hour. 24 gallon fuel tank. Climb rate with two on board, full fuel and a 85° day, our airport elevation is 810 ft above sea level, is right around 800 ft per minute. Solo it jumps up to about 1400 ft per minute.

@@North700 So we're neighbors! Currently is November 17th or 18th here and it is much warmer than normal. I am based at Ionia Airport which if you look on the state of Michigan map is about 30 miles due east of Grand Rapids. If you get over this way I'll buy lunch. The airport identifier is... KY70
Nice W8, as I understand it the O-290D2 was used in the Piper Pa-22 pre mid 56... rated at 135hp. On the way to building a W10, I picked up a W8 in need of major refurbishment. It used to have an O-290G in it, but I’m planning on using an O-235. What’s up with this airplane? Are you looking to sell?
Hi , I am looking to thin down a bit on aircraft lol , in The process of marketing a different one that may have sold I will know shortly, if I keep this Whitman much longer I will put a radio and transponder in it and use it for commuting, tailwinds are in my opinion the most undervalued Aircraft, would be hard-pressed to find better value in an aircraft
