I think if you are an adopted kid this movie really hits hard in a good way. I may not be your father but I will always be your Dad.
Shen will always be my favorite villain in the Kung Fu Panda series. You can literally see him trying to rationalize what he is doing to himself. The fact he also let the Soothsayer (Goat) free means he isn't 100% heartless as well. He could have thrown her in prison or worse after he had no use for her.

It is such a blessing to see you give 5 stars to a movie, but this time there was no hesitation, you didn't even have to think about it, which means it was that good and your reaction this such masterpieces are in a class all by themselves. Don't let hate mail have any place at your table, you won't find a channel that is 100% approved, so don't stress and just let them waste their time and energy without you having to sacrifice any tension that wouldn't satisfy them, even if. Every compelling protagonist has trauma in their backstory that they have overcome. We had a _hint_ of it in Volume I, but _this_ is the volume where it was brought into vivid focus and pulled at our heart strings.
But they had to have had this worked out _before_ they wrote the _first_ one.
"Why does an animated movie have so many emotions?..."
We tried to get every movie to have that.
The Kung Fu Panda Trilogy was made as a piece, the story can only be understood by seeing it all.
We learn a lot more about the Furious Five in Secrets of the Furious Five, and Secrets of the Scroll.
For Tigress in particular, she grew up in an orphanage full of prey animals, all of whom were terrified of her.
She spent her formative years angry, isolated, and scared, before Shifu arrived to help her.
It’s always so funny to me seeing these people say “I need a lighthearted movie with some laughs” right before they start this movie, not realizing they might actually cry towards the end.
You probably didn't catch who was the voice actor for Shen. Mr. Chameleon himself.
It was awwesome to watch thi movie again along with you.

I do pity Lord Shen though, he was born with a hunger that cannot be fulfilled no matter what he did. In Chinese culture, there is something called a hungry ghost, which tries to eat but can never be full and is forever hungry. In Lord Shen’s case, it is power. The last part when the cannon fell on him, he looked like he realized he would never be happy and chose to commit suicide instead to end his obsessive suffering
Interesting Fact, when Shen's cannon falls in the lake, an alternative ending Shen is sinking in the lake and Po saves him, but they changed it to teach a lesson that not all people seek redemption

I’m not one to cry at movies or at shows, Bisscute, but there have certainly been others that cried at this movie. Magic Magy, her associate Foxy Laura, Trixy Blue of Bulgaria, Natalie Gold of Canada, Liala Naema of Britain, Sessis of Sweden, and several more. Perhaps maybe even Clariss of Columbia. I gotta hand it to you though. You stayed strong till the very end. It DID blow what happened to Po, his mother, and the entire village. You may have hated Tai Lung but he was a broken type of villain whereas Shen was just pure evil and if Shen ever really WAS broken, it was only AFTER he became pure evil. The next villain though is more influenced than pure evil but all I can tell you bout him at this moment was he used to be a friend of Oogway’s. Speaking of Oogway, you remember one thing he stated? One often meets his or her destiny on the road he or she takes to avoid it. Shen met his destiny cuz he attempted to avoid it by killing some of the pandas. Plus, there are also less than 1,600 giant pandas left in the wild. They are, however, no longer on the endangered list no more though.
Now it's on to KFP3. KFP4 comes out this year

My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away are timeless animated movies. Spirited Away won an Oscar, and both movies have a girl as the hero. They are my favorite.

Gary oldman really outdone himself playing as shen (the peacock) i bet his crazy facial expressions gave animators quite a challenge
