    Jimmy and Marc are ripping De Niro and then 11 years later in 2019, Marc worked with De Niro in Joker and Jimmy worked with De Niro in The Irishman. Both films came out a month apart. It all comes full circle 😂😂😂

      What’s the point you are trying to make?
      De Niro is a shadow of himself. But he’s a living legend and one of the greatest actors of all time. You combine that with the visibility of a big budget project and a nice fat paycheck and it’s fairly obvious why jimmy and Marc made their decisions. Nobody in their right mind would say no to that.

    Great actors do not mean interesting people. Personally I try to avoid interviews with actors so their political, social, personal views don't affect the way I see their performances. Love both De Niro and Pacino but O&A bashing them is hilarious.

    @nbadraft08 Its probably a necessity for them to appeal to a wider audience that they do this kind of comedy rather than always doing their social and political commentary comedy I first saw them do with Louis C.K. which got me interested in them. I hate to see bullying comedy propagated (unless the targets really deserve it) but at the same time its a good hook to get the kids interested in a show where they have the balls to comedically attack more important issues in other segments. :)

    It's not a coincidence that artists with the greatest capacity to convey drama through their body language are more observers of people rather than bubbly fake talking heads or wise cracking radio DJ's.
    I've lost a bit of respect for Opie and Anthony the last couple videos I've watched of them. I didn't think they were the typical radio shock-jocks. They are alot more obnoxious without Louis C.K. to counterbalance their egos.

    @KurtG85 Are you related to these actors? Why would you take offense to this? It's a fact, they've both sucked for a while. They're just saying that. They aren't devaluing their previous preformances/entire careers. They're just upset that as they've gotten older, Pacino and de Niro have fallen off/not had good roles.
    Why can't they just appreciate their early performances instead of adoring and romanticizing every thing they do?

    @nbadraft08 Comedic styles do have a large impact on culture and its progressive or regressive direction and comedy, like all art forms, should always be subject to adult minded scrutiny. The art of comedy can be robbed of its power by debasing it into meaningless tabloid bullshit like our news, music and other forms of media have been reduced to by corporate/government interests. I was first impressed with O and E because they are unusually unafraid to discuss exactly this kind of politics.

  • @KurtG85
    @KurtG85 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @nbadraft08 I understand that a niche has been established for this kind of junior-high defamation of others based on superficial appearances and behavior on radio and in hollywood. This fact doesn't make those who perpetuate it any less worthy of a lack of respect, any less obnoxious, or any less culturally corrosive IMO. As I said, I used to be under the impression that the O and E show had more class than the typical shock jocks and didn't have to stoop to this level to get laughs.

    @nbadraft08 I stand by the fact that people imitate behavior they see (mass media shapes culture for a reason) and therefore any overly cruel and insensitive behavior should be shunned so that the culture doesn't devolve into pure egoism (which is arguably taking place in our culture). That said, I will admit I still don't have much context for the personalities of these guys and how insensitive or good natured they may be so I am probably a bit quick in my generalization of their behavior.

    @KurtG85 Don't bring that anti-American bullshit into this. Is Ricky Gervais just playing into American sentiments when does his "good-natured ribbing" in his awards show monologues? No. He tones it down in America, with it in England being even more "immature and mean" as you would probably say. In addition to it being funny, O and A acknowledge that they rip on people excessively. The show fosters an environment of extreme self-awareness, where everyone, including the hosts, get bashed.

    I don't mind Al Pacino but Deniro is a hack. I don't mind Pacino because he doesn't get all into politics and all that other bullshit, he just sticks to acting. Sure he's not nearly as good as he used to be, but at least he sticks with what he was good at. Deniro is very political yet can't complete a sentence(as he couldn't even do here.) BTW, just because you are a "great actor" doesn't mean you are going to be entertaining. They aren't clowns, they are actors, well....Deniro is a clown/actor.

    @nbadraft08 This does not resemble any sort of objective commentary on the drop off in quality of their acting roles at all. It's just defamation of others to boost ones ego and get attention. Where you want to draw the line between 'good natured ribbing' and being obnoxious egotistical dickheads is a subjective matter. The fact is that this kind of behavior perpetuates a cultural acceptance of this kind of behavior and reinforces the stereotypical view of americans as insensitive egoists.
