  • Still down in the South West corner of Wales. Still off shore but now visiting South Bishop Lighthouse. Not open to the Public
This Lighthouse is on a very barren lump of rock out to sea. I was stationed here for a few months back in 1974.Boat trips may be had from the following, but as you will appreciate, boat trip will be totally reliant on the weather and if they have enough passengers. So phone before you travel.

Peter, thank you so much! As I have commented in previous videos, I absolutely LOVE your work. ❤ South Bishop is stunning! By documenting the fascinating lighthouse and its incredible Keepers, you preserve the history of this magnificent structure and your profession, keeping it alive for future generations! Only GOD HIMSELF knows how many lives we're saved, thanks to the selfless dedication and commitment of the lighthouse Keepers! GOD bless you and your family, Sir! I am looking forward to the next video! ❤🙏

The left hand dwelling was removed for electrification. Well, part of it remains, as its slightly over half of the upper floor is left, so needed a bit of the left dwelling. The fuel tanks now sit inside the footprint of the old foghorn sration - if it were still there the site would be even more impressive. The old helipad used to flood (so its redundant), and a few other outbuidings removed over the years too. Good aerial shots on the "Coflein" website. I'd love to know what they did with the stone from the building etc. You can see the island from Skomer ❤😊

    Definitely my favourite 🥰🥰🥰
It's a pity the left hand dwelling got removed (must have been quite an undertaking). I guess the manhole covers are for rain water, black water brick tanks etc. Quite the place to live I imagine. That's why it's my favourite.....life on the edge 😂❤ My dream is to spend a few nights there, I'd settle for having a look around the island.

Thank you. Yes, although barren, it was still a very interesting place to be. Cheers and stay safe.

Thank you, and yes I used to stare at the mainland at times wondering if anybody knew we were here. Now it's unmanned and not as loved with TLC as it used to be. Cheers and stay safe.

Great footage, its always nice to hear the interviews and the smoking tea story was hilarious. Pity about the colleague that liked to take credit for other peoples work, thats a big foghorn, sadly it’s replacement is very puny you can barely hear the 3 beeps ( S Morse code ? ) in a video I saw. That’s definitely not the original lens but even the baby ones are works of art.

Thank you very much Jane, much appreciated. I used to like the old fog horns the best too. I also love the other Keepers stories/tales that I managed to gather. Wish I could have done more, but at the very least I can let their voices be heard in my videos. Thanks again and always take care and stay safe.

I thought the weight was not so “long” (can't quite think of the right word). I have enjoyed and watched your channel for a while now. I always just assumed it was clockwork like a carriage clock. Might sound silly but I'm more impressed, and I now start to realise the restraint the other keepers have shown in their language when talking on film about having to wind it up.
Did you have a cut out of the cable or rope? I was thinking of leaving a mark to show 15, 30, 45, 60 mind? Did any of the towers have any wired quirks like started quickly or slowly and ended abruptly, or should have stopped but physics failed?
Thank for you're hard work. What camera do you use on these tours. I don't want to be rude. I k ow nothing about cameras really. The footage looks a bit very high quality 1990s?
Do you have a chance to go back with new tech? Do you want to? Are you lighthouses out?
Last thing.. That story about the evaporated Milk made me laugh. I will remember that the rest of my life and share it at lunch today. My parents are in their 80s so they remember when men were men, and what a rough job guys had.
My dad would never have liked to do it. Not a snobbery thing just, loneliness mixed with fear I think.
I'm the same. Mad respect for all you guys.
Thank you for your continued historical and recent work.
    All the best
    Alex

Thank you very much Alex, much appreciated. As for any more footage of lighthouse trips? I've just returned from Florida where I filmed a few with a better camera but it did come out as a bit frantic in parts as I was in amongst lots of tourists and time restraints. Those videos will be produced in the future. As for the weights driving lenses, apparently they were all different in the time in between wind ups, no Keeper would let it hit the bell before rewinding. My camera was a sony hi 8 camera which was a lot better than my first attempts with a sanyo. Thanks again and stay safe.

@@PeterHalil I will google the camera. I'm happy you are continuing your hobby/ passion.
A lovely surprise to hear from you. If this is too personal you are free to email me or just not answer. The internet is an odd place. I left school in 2001. I'm one of the last free-range kids. Get back before dark kind of thing. We didn't have the internet ect.
So my question is why did you go to Florida and what did you do while you were there? Was it all sea-related? Did you go to the tourist traps? I don't need to know, just wondering. Will you upload the footage to your channel here? I think that's what I am asking.
      Have a great weekend.

@@Erebusdidnothingwrongish Hi, it was an intense holiday visiting one theme park, then travelling the coast taking in a fair few lighthouse visits and filming. Also took in visits to some National Parks for wildlife and scenery. We finished up in the Florida Keys, so quite a journey. The videos will eventually be on my You Tube channel. Cheers.
