    I didn’t think of using board games in our homeschool group!!! We love discussing books in our homeschool group!!! I love listening in as the kids do it themselves!!! We have a dad who teaches the middle schoolers and high schoolers how to talk professionally!!!

    I just came across your video while searching for ideas for next year. today was our last day for this semester and I taught this exact Detective science book. So many of the kids told me it was their favorite class. Our ages were 8-11 year olds.

    We also set up "Clubs" every year. Over the 10 years we have been homeschooling we have met biweekly or monthly for: Pokemon Club (card game), Book Club, Artist Study, STEM Club, Nature Club, Hiking Club, Chess Club, Yearbook, Board Game Club, Teen Club, and when they were little Play and Learn (PALs) club which was Preschool-about 2nd grade. We also have a lot of field trips. Obviously we dont do all of these at once. We pick one or two but they have changed over the years.

    Our all time favorite co-op was Story of the World. We would read on our own and then come together for the activities. We had 3 families and we met every other week and one mom did everything, so I only made one epic day every 6 weeks. We would have something food related along with discussion and 1-2 activities. It was the best!

    Thanks for sharing these! I'm not part of a co-op currently. These were great ideas for unit studies though! I haven't heard about a few of these so I'm excited to find out more and watch the videos you mentioned. Thanks for doing all these videos!

    This was such a helpful video! There aren't a ton of video on YT about co-op ideas. And I was curious how you have used Apologia in your co-op, but you kind of answered it here! So glad I ran across this one. Do you have any other tips for using Apologia Science in a Co-op setting?? Thanks! :)

      Glad it was helpful. I think the best tip is to have people read the material at home and use the class time to review concepts and work on experiments

    Please give us an update of Bal-a-vis-X! Especially how you adapted it to a coop. Our coop blocks are about 50-55 minutes, would it make sense to do Bal-a-vis-X for that long? Would you combine it with something else? If so, what would you combine it with?

    I'm attempting SOTW volume 2 at co-op this year, where the kids read during the week, and then we will come together to discuss, do the mapwork, and activities. We'll see what happens!! 😊

    This video is packed full of great options, I will be looking into all of them. I'm very interested in a flip through or a review video on bal-a-visk curriculum. I've heard of this one and was interested but thought extensive training was needed and geared for professionals

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  ปีที่แล้ว

      Our physical therapist recommended for us to use it and we have been able to follow along pretty well with just the book. I do know they offer professional training too though so I will let you know after we have been using it more.

    Just curious - how long do your co-op units typically run for? I am part of a homeschool support group in Canada and they only do an elementary school co-op for 6 weeks.

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It just depends on the co-op. I’m apart of several different ones. Some we do 8-9 classes a semester, others are every two weeks, some have been once a month,etc
