      Thanks for the feedback. The London Poplar isn't that common around me, I don't see it much. Some folks will see it everywhere though.

I did your free starter course and am now on your beginner's course and really enjoying learning to recognise new trees...your videos and course are very well done, very enjoyable and easy to follow...many thanks.

    The way im going to remember the difference between Hazel and Alder is by thinking of the Adder snake. I think of the Adder biting the Alder leaf and the snake has sort of triangles on its back and the young branches are triangular and both tree and Adder are not hairy . The snake can hide easier at the base of tree too.

      I've never heard that one before, interesting. I think with a subject like this, people should use whatever image helps them remember the identifying features of the tree. So if the adders works for you, that's great.
