We’ve decided to home school year round so we can take time off when we need to during holidays or if family is in town or if someone gets sick etc.

The study sounds great. How you find time to research all this is beyond me. Hope you have a very relaxing summer!

Thanks! 😂 This is what me and my husband do in our free time… talk and research.

I would be extremely interested in an Israel unit study! I have thought more than once that I wish I could find some resources to learn more about modern-day Israel for both myself and my kids. I really hope you share what you put together.

Oh, one resource I thought that you might want to look into is Jews in Fighter Jets by David Cloud.

We are closing out our 3rd year homeschooling. My second grader has autism, and although he is brilliant, things take longer for some subjects. My kinder daughter is still very much in the world of play which I love, so school is filled in through the day. We take lots of breaks and we will finish math and LA sometime in the summer. I will fill in this summer with literature studies and math and LA board games and lots of outdoor exploration. We definitely keep some kind of structure to keep things more consistent for my oldest.

We just finished school (its July) so I'm here looking for ideas! We farm/homestead so we're getting really busy but the kids asked to do some school this summer. We typically start back up fulltime at the end of September.

Thank you for sharing the How to Write a Story book! My son needs to do that at some point.

Great video! I love the flexibility of homeschooling My sister teachs her kids year round but takes a week off each month were in our house we also celebrate the high holidays but we do fallow the school calendar as far as summer goes we take two full weeks off then he gets a reading list and we focus on his life skills and we'll do a summer read a loud together. We'll also continue our Bible study.

Love that unit study idea! Would definitely be interested in that information.

As a former homeschooler, I’d still be interested in seeing what information you are gathering and teaching. Not only for myself but I also teach a ladies Bible study.
We did basically year round, as we had times during the year that we were not so much in the curriculum, but In education/ministry learning mode. Taking time to put on large Pesach celebrations, and so the kids learned more about organizing/admin, budgeting/purchasing, learned more Hebrew, etc. that was one of the advantages of Homeschooling, didn’t have to slow the kids down, but could add other things in that were important to us and them.

Yes, please share everything about Israel! I have realized this year I really don’t know anything about modern Israel. I’ve tried to find some things, but don’t have a good way to “filter” and know which resources would honor God and Messiah. One thing I REALLY want to find is Israeli praise music. Even if I don’t know/understand the language, I love the thought of that playing in my home - if you or anyone reading this has any recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated!
Question about the IEW Story writing curriculum: is it possible to benefit from it if we have never done any other of their units?

      @LivingWithEve  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think so. The IEW seems to more a Manuel that you work through.

I had a Isreal trip scheduled, I currently live in Germany, due to the current conflict with the violence, I canceled it😭💔It would've been my first time, instead we are going to Scotland for the summer but I would be interested in any study you do for this. Anything to teach my daughter the importance of the Jewish people is most certainly appreciated.

I’m glad you made this video. I was wondering if I didn’t finish what was I going to do. With our special needs little one’s learning and therapy doesn’t stop during the summer.

We had a few bumps in the road this winter and we move almost 5,000 miles in August. So we will work into summer and then break from August to the start of October. But we hope to join coops so those would be the only things we'd start early. We will be house hunting and living in temporary housing. I only have one kid almost done with math. We are actually moving to Florida! If you are in a certain area I'd love to chat about homes in Florida.

Personally I cannot wait to finish this school year. In the past we have done those grade bridge books, but this year we are taking a whole month off, nothing related to school, maybe daily review of multiplication, but that’s all. We are so tired!

My eldest is only 7 so we still do reading and math fact games all summer. They love history so we continue reading those and they also enjoy science mini units so we do those as well. Mine are so little right now that it's easier to keep them on a daily schedule regardless of the time of year. We don't do a curriculum during the summer tho.
